As revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu, Capcom is bringing its three Phoenix Wright "courtroom battle" games to Nintendo's WiiWare service. Today the publisher confirmed that the releases will be making their way to the US beginning in January. Capcom intends to release the games every other month (January, March and May) for 1,000 Wii Points ($10) apiece, with "Rise from the Ashes," the extra case added to the DS Ace Attorney, arriving as DLC in May for 100 Wii Points ($1).
The first game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, is a port of the original Game Boy Advance title -- and, like the two subsequent WiiWare editions, Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations, remains unchanged from its original release (read: same graphics, sound, dialog) save for the ability to swing the Wii Remote out (as in the image above, which is one-off, non-sprite art) to object and present evidence to the court. They'll all be presented in widescreen, but the actual gameplay only takes up a 4:3 area on top of an animated background. Nevertheless, the games are still superb, and at $10 with the ability to play them on the big screen you won't hear any objections from us.
Check out a whole lot of screens and two pieces of art from Ace Attorney in the gallery below.

This sounds great. I never bought PW before because the whole collection runs you over $120 dollars unless you buy it used (and who buys DS carts used)
10 dollars apiece sounds like a much better deal, I will probably get this.

So, the first one is 100 Points more than the Japanese release, but then the next two, and Rise from the Ashes, are 200 Points cheaper than the Japanese release. I'd say that evens out! Good on ya, Capcom. Now I don't have to throw the book at you.... Hell, I'll do it anyways!

Come on Capcom, you can do better than that... unless you're doing this to test the waters for the real Wiiware Phoenix Wright game.

I think he means that he's been doing homebrew, and didn't want to update to 4.2 lest he brick his Wii.
Or he never turns it on. That too.

I'm gonna have to pass on getting these. I already played the DS versions, and if there's no enhancements for the WiiWare versions, there's little point in me getting them again.
Should be great for anyone who hasn't played the DS versions, though, especially considering that DS copies of all three games are not easy to come by nowadays.

... What a cash-in. I thought when I saw the story they'd at least be redrawing everyone for TV definition, but no.

What were you really expecting for a $10 digital-only rerelease of a game?

Quite possibly. Unless my bro has been playing it. He's been talking to me about getting more remotes and Wii Sports Resort.
If not, I'll find out when I try to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

The motion controls were wonky, but the game still plays great with the Wiimote buttons. People new to the series would do themselves a favor to get them this way.

Even though I'm happy for Ace Attorney getting a wider audience, I'm sure something really really special could have come out of this, but a port? A port from a GBA game?? Come on guys, I'm sure CAPCOM could have done at least a little graphical upgrade for the Wii, keep it small for digital distribution and STILL get profits from those 10$ each game. Otherwise it feels like cheating.
Think on something along the lines of Trauma Center Wii vs Trauma Center DS (I'm talking cutscenes mostly) It's not like you have to do a HUGE overhaul of the game to make it look better than on the GBA.

You do have a point there, now that I think about it. A GBA game isn't really anything more than an SNES game, which I always felt was overpriced at 8 dollars as it is.
IDK if they do enhance it further it would be worth a buy, but the more I think about it the more I feel a GBA port isn't worth 10 dollars, especially if they don't even try to pretty it up for the big screen

Okay, I think it's gonna look gross when the GBA sprites are blown up for the big screen, AND I'm disappointed in the lack of any other incentive for buying.
Couldn't they at least have hand drawn a few things? Or added a few more animation sprites? Or some kind of side content like behind the scenes... I guess...? (I don't really know how much of that you could do on a $10 WiiWare game). I mean, I feel like this is the fastest and dirtiest port ever, without even any thought to the sprites themselves.... Good for the franchise in terms of getting new fans, but that's pretty much it.

For $10 a game, thats not bad! The good part is, more people will be able to appreciate this gem of a title!
Not for me though, I already got the whole collection for my DS.
But for those who haven't yet played it.....
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??
---------------------------------------------
Maybe Capcom MIGHT consider releasing the next Ace Attorney game on Wiiware, judging from the response of these titles.

Despite its original proposal a priori, it is certain that Phoenix Wright is not a new face in Capcom's creations, as it has previously visited Game Boy Advance on three occasions, in addition to having had PC ports of the three deliveries. However, it was not until the arrival of this release for the Nintendo DS that the saga has left Japan, and users are fortunate that finally did it. See a nice video here - http://www.techarena.in/video/21484-phoenix-wright-first-video-trailer.htm
