I think I'll wait until tomorrow for either firmware - I don't like getting them immediately. In any case, it's a good day for Playstation owners :)

Yes, everyone wants to see big pictures and tiny letters on a tiny screen. Can't see the art? Zoom out. Can't read the text? Zoom in!

These are Motion Comics. No text to read; It's all performed by a narrator or voice actors.

Google check revealed that PSP-x000 is the Japanese model, while PSP-x0005 is the Korean model. This TV feature is for something that is in the Japanese and Korean markets, it seems, similar to how VidZone only appears in Europe.

I suspect the Japanese manga reader service will be what pushes the PlayStation division back into financial prosperity.

Really looking forward to the comics. I hope they're going to be something like the ones on the Iphone.

I was reading some 'The Darkness' comics on a friend's Iphone and holy crap it was cool. The app actually zooms into relevant parts of panels and enlarges or minimizes depending on the content.

I expected it to be kind of awkward and a bit of a pain, especially since I really like my dead tree versions of anything. Nothing beats a real page you can turn.

I actually found the iphone comics easier and more convenient than a normal comic book.

Really, really hope the PSP ones are similar.

I hear this could be the one that 'enables' the Go to be a good PSP, if you know what I mean ;)

I know Canadians are starting to sound like broken records, but seriously. The comic service doesn't list Canada.

For most movies (and comics) the companies that own the Canadian distribution rights for these properties are usually the Canadian branches of the same companies!

When I want comics I go buy physical copies of them .... because they are either really new or they are really really old.... this is what last years comic lineup ?

Wake me up when the update includes something interesting ..... wait that might be a dangerous statement ..... I don't want to go all Rip Van Winkle

Ironically, I discovered the existence of this firmware update for the digital comics service right after getting the last unlockable in Unbound Saga. So it was a bit of "Digital comics on the PSP? Wasn't I doing that just now?"

I wonder if American manga publishers (who mostly release in graphic novel format) will come onboard at some point.

I just updated my firmware and went to download the reader, even though I know I can't see comics until December... and I found that the reader is a whopping 1GB download!

I have to ask them... ARE THEY EFFIN' NUTZ?!?!

When you have to pay $30+ for a 4GB memory stick, and are not willing to shell out the ridiculous price for the PSPGo without ANY reasonable compensation for your previous UMD purchases...

This... is just stupid.

lol 1gb ..... yeah not bothering with that EVER .......... not that was going to before that but DAMN !!!!

let me guess that's 3megs for the reader and 997megs for layers upon layers of DRM

or are their coders just that bad ?

Ok where are you guys even finding the reader? I've made my update, but I'm not finding the comic reader anywhere in my XMB. Where are the extras?

Eh no clue, to be honest I'm just sitting this "update" out all together unless some game forces me to update before a decent update rolls around.

It's not a 1GB download. It is a 1MB download. (The text that appears on screen is incorrect.) You can find Extras between Settings and Photo on the XMB.

"You can find Extras between Settings and Photo on the XMB."

Ok, I'm looking at my PSP right now, there is no option between 'settings' and 'photo'. I've gone all the way through the XMB and can't find any extras menu anywhere. I know I have the latest firmware, because I just connected to and downloaded a demo from the playstation store.

I've got a really sinking suspicion this has to do with some region locking bullshit...

I've got a PSP I bought in Taiwan. I freakin' hope this thing is not locked to machines or I will friggin shit myself.

I want to find the guy who came up with region locking and stab him in the face with a spoon. Repeatedly. Until he apologizes. Hopefully through blood and tears.

Did they ever fix on how to use a Micro M2 that has 4GB of memory to properly use on PSP-3000? I can't seem to use it to update or download games other than use it for movie files. I always have to find my older memory stick pro 1GB that was originally included with the PSP-3000 to do updates or get games...

does the extras category show up on a PSP 1000? I would hate to think sony would stoop so low as to deprive non-3000 owners this feature
