Toys R Us announces pre-Black Friday game deals

In a refreshing move, Toys R Us revealed some November video game deals for Sunday, November 22 through Thursday, November 26, available both in-store and online. Therefore, they won't require you to stand outside in the middle of the night or battle other deal-seekers for possession of a "doorbuster" (which Toys R Us is also reportedly doing). Even better, Toys R Us is the only retailer we know of handing out Cold Stone gift cards with purchases.

Starting on Sunday:

all DS and PSP games will be buy one, get one half off.
Wii and Xbox 360 Arcade hardware purchases will be bundled with (seriously) a $15 gift card for Wendy's, Subway, or Cold Stone Creamery -- deal available in-store only
"Select video games" will be bundled with a $25 iTunes gift card -- deal available in-store only
The Beatles: Rock Band standalone software will be $49.99.
The Beatles: Rock Band "Special Value Edition" will be $134.99.
"Select video game storage units" will be $34.99.

From Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, both TRU stores and Toysrus.com will offer a "Ready to Play DS Lite Pack" for $157.95, containing a DS Lite, a case, various accessories, and two DS games from an "edited assortment." TRU says that, when purchased as part of this set, the DS comes out to $64.99.

After accounting for the needless accessories and overvalued "edited assortment" games, your DS comes down to a low price of between $90 to $110. Fantastic.

Then again, if comeone got a Wii they probably got Wii fit and is probably hungry for a $15 food card. If someone got a 360 arcade with all the necessary accessories, they're probably gonna need that $15 food card too.

Wow, a wendys gift card.

Yeah, compare that to the $100 wal-mart gift card a week or so ago on the arcade this one seems a little... undervalued.

what's with the random gift cards? did they find a way to hack the cards at the till without being charged?

That's a weird cross promotion. I've never had Cold Stone before, there is a badass local ice cream place like 2 blocks from the only Cold Stone Creamery in town, and I'd much rather eat the local ice cream.

Coldstone is far from the be all and end all of ice cream, but if you think Dairy Queen is better than Coldstone you must be on crack.

Ice cream is one of my great weaknesses in life. I've tried local joints all over the country, and Sylas and Maddy's is some of the best I've ever found.. If you ever find yourself in Lawrence, KS or Kansas City, find one.

DQ is not > Cold Stone.

Nevertheless, I go to DQ more than Cold Stone. And even then, it's been months ago.

Cold Stone is overpriced. I don't want to pay four dollars for a single scoop of ice cream (that's what Baskin Robbins is for!). Blizzards are better.

Cold Stone's not overpriced; it's just more of a 'luxury model' of the ice cream scoop. I, too, prefer to just grab a cheaper Blizzard, but I still recognize that it's a differnt caliber of ice cream.

Stone Cold Creamery? Does the soda jerk get you your milkshake, flip you the bird, then stunner you?

I think I'll pass.

Ooo, I've been wanting to get Bowser's Inside Story. What other DS game should I get?

Bowser's Inside Story is an amazing game, definitely the best of the Mario & Luigi series so far.

As for other DS games (I assume you mean recent ones) I recommend Professor Layton & The Diabolical Box, and also if you're into the Kingdom Hearts series you should definitely check out Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Some of those gift cards are amusingly arbitrary. Nothing says "gamer" like Wendy's!

Cold Stone Creamery? Are they still in business? All the stores I know of around here (Berkeley, CA) have been gone for a while.

There's one in Emmeryville. I think that's the closest to Berkeley.

But Berkeley still has it's Foster Freeze, doesn't it? Nothing else really matters when you have a Foster Freeze.

There's several Cold Stones out here in Arizona... But, they ARE based out of Scottsdale, so I guess it makes sense... They aren't cheap because it is a "premium" ice cream; they make the ice cream in-store and stuff. It's really good... but really pricey. So, yeah, I only go there if I got a coupon, ha.

Oh please have 120GB 360 HDDs for sale. I need one so bad.

Hmm, a DS game sale. Been thinking of getting Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV now that the Square Tax has expired some time ago on those two.

I bet it'd suck to get home with that Ready to Play pack and have to charge the fucking DS. Almost a good name.
