I don't quite understand the cheerleading on Uncharted 2. It was a good game, but it is basically a modern day Indiana Jones, with a pretty standard plot line and linear game play. The game play is similar to tomb raider and I found the cover system does not work as well as some others like Gears of War. The graphics are good, but still not resident evil 5 or gears of war level. The multiplayer was decent, but not as good as I expected. I believe the sales of the game indicate that many other people felt the same way, especially given the amount of advertising money Sony spent on the game.

I think you have to give game of the year to Modern Warfare 2. The story is short, but interesting and the gameplay is frantic and intense. Nothing can match the multiplayer on MW2 either. I believe the 7 million people who bought the game can attest to that. No other game has produced so many sales and so many accolades. Hell everyone of my friends on Live is playing this game constantly

Borderlands might not be the best RPG - probably dragon age or demon souls, but it was the best original game of the year. No one has combined a FPS with a RPG before and made it so successful. Plenty of replay value even in single player. Definitely looking forward to the DLCs and Borderlands 2.

Batman was a great game and one that finally gave the Dark Knight its just deserts. Between that and Wolverine (uncaged edition), there is hope for comic book or movie based games. Both excellent titles.

Madden 10 also deserves some praise since you can tell EA actually tried to make it play like real football.

Batman deserves mention simply because it was an excellent title. Can this idea not also be extended to Uncharted 2?

Yeah, I think it was bad form to downvote Christian, so I've upvoted him, even though I disagree with what he says.

Can't really see the logic behind disliking Uncharted 2 because of its generic gameplay, but then praising MW2, which has even more generic gameplay. (Which doesn't stop both games from being awesome, though, by the way.)

Also, can't really see why he'd think Uncharted 2 has weaker graphics than GoWII or RE5 though, as it's clearly superior to both.

Well, the people who bought MW2 didn't buy it for the single player. I generally don't play multiplayer, so MW2 is completely out of it for me. I'm not paying $60 for a 5 hour campaign. This is why I would support Uncharted, but it is a "me" thing. Bioshock delivered a compelling story without sacrificing length. I don't know if IW is unwilling to try and make a 8-10 hour game, or just can't get enough from the story to warrant it.

Yea, Uncharted 2 is so generic. Thank god we got MW2 to provide innovation! You sir are baffling. And Gears of War and RE5 better graphics then Uncharted 2? You are a blind man. A blind baboon I tell you!

Borderlands is a fantastic game, I very much enjoy it, but for me both best RPG and GOTY is Dragon Age Origins, hands down. Its the best RPG I've played to date and I've basically played them all. The graphics could have been better but I am glad Bioware focused more on story, history, character development and the rich element of choice that the game offers. Its incredibly addictive if you enjoy a game that requires you to fully immerse yourself in it.

Actually the wii category is pretty good, Al thought I wonder why they didn't select the conduit since it technically has the best wii graphics and is a much better game than Madworld.

MW2 isn't on the best 360 game category because it's multi-platform.

But Batman's multi too...

you really think Borderlands is that great of a game? I thinks it's shit and only fun with friends. It's so repetitive and buggy. The only thing that makes that game any fun is the loot you collect and the coop which is the life of the game, everything else is boring and dull after the opening. The game had a non existing story which I couldn't understand for the life of me. By any other standards this game would be crap if it was single player only but add some co-op and a bazillion weapons and you have a GOTY contender. Amazing.

Now that you mention it, that is weird. I guess the 360 just had less exclusives this year.

Uncharted 2 isn't even in my top 5, neither is AC2 (yet, I just got the damn thing).

But I got mw2 at #2 and Batman at #4. Borderlands is better and more fun than all of those games.

I agree with MW2 as my choice for GOTY.

KZ2, Uncharted 2, Batman, R&C and Dj Hero are def my runners up and all equally close to my favorite.

I like Borderlands, but I don't consider it GotY material. It gets boring real fast if you don't have multiple people to play with, and even then it can drag at times.

So they throw a big party, Megan Fox dresses all slutty, we all chug some mountain dew. Its all in good fun in the name of games. I dont think anyone takes it to serious.

I'm not saying that Modern Warfare 2 is a bad game - far from it, if it wins, it deserves it. I'm just stating my own personal preference for Uncharted 2, and at the same time adding commentary on the predictability of mainstream-oriented award shows.

Funny, cause in my version of a perfect world MW2 does in fact win game of the year.

And they unveil the first set of exclusive map packs for 360, which hopefully launch in december.

Its newer and it destroyed Uncharted 2's sales. Uncharted 2 may be a better game but with a public vote it doesnt have a chance in hell.

MW2, Uncharted, Batman, Red faction, dragon age, L4D2... there are all these games i want to win but I think MW2 will win. Uncharted would be by second choice but it just doesnt hold my attention as long like MW2 multiplayer.

Uncharted 2 had an amazing single player experience, with a great (to some) multiplayer element. MW2 had a good single player experience with amazing (to some) multiplayer. To me it's not even a tough decision this year.

Well, see it's these funny things we call opinions. I had more fun on single player in MW2 than Uncharted 2, and multiplayer is miles ahead. Uncharted 2 had such a god awful multiplayer it was embarrassing (co op was fun though...all 3 levels of it)

I'm pulling for Uncharted 2 as well. Modern Warfare 2 should win for multiplayer, but the single player campaign is an incoherent mess.
