Seriously, guys? Everyone on the planet runs out and buys Modern Warfare 2 and you're still playing Call of Duty 4 and World at War? We can understand you folks who chose to play Halo 3 -- the whole Modern Warfare 2 experience may not be your idea of a good time -- but Major Nelson's Xbox Live activity chart for the week of November 9 simply vexes us.
In less puzzling news, the XBLA activity is along the lines of something we're used to seeing. Trials HD remains atop the list, followed by Castle Crashers and South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play. Konami's Zombie Apocalypse also managed to survive the gauntlet and make its way onto the list and, combined with the recent release of Left 4 Dead 2, we feel mankind is finally starting to reach acceptable levels of preparation for the inevitable future of a world plagued by the undead.

Trials is at the top because we are all trying for the marathon achievement. 7 less faults... oy.

MW2's multiplayer is epic. I can't see it being knocked off the top spot anytime soon. Congrats to Infinity Ward for being responsible for 3 of the top 4 games on live.

I'm surprised that COD4 also beat Halo 3. Next weeks numbers will probably be MW2, and then Halo 3.
I also find it funny that the buggy mess that is Gears of War 2 has dropped so low.

@Dreaded Fear, MW2 beat out Halo 3 because, unlike Halo 3, MW2 is actually a good game. Also Halo 3 is much more buggy than GoW2, although that's just splitting hairs since both are a mess.

Maybe you just sucked online. Dogs didnt ruin much for me. Cant say much about the single player story since i dont give a shit about it i mostly play online with my games.

Larger maps and second chance (seriously, why didn't IW borrow this or at least give us a better medic-like perk) were the only improvements it needed. Dogs aren't a problem if you play Search & Destroy, and at least they can be quelled more easily than a chopper. How can someone complain about dogs with MW2's absolutely ridiculous, guaranteed to get at least one kill, killstreaks is beyond me.

In my opinion, W@W's campaign was much better than cod4's, less linear, more freedom from waiting every two feet for someone to open a door for you, and I feel it was a much more diverse and interesting set of levels and objectives. I feel like Cod4 did a great job of holding your hand like a baby the entire play through, I never once felt like I controlled what to do or how to do it; that seems to be a step in the wrong direction for campaigns.
Just my opinion though.

sucked?? I wouldnt say that.....but I was nowhere near as good in that as say KZ2, Gears2, Uncharted2, or CoD4.....but I didn't suck....
hell I called the dogs in plenty of times...
and sadly you are one of MILLIONS that pay $60 for a game just for online....thereby allow Treyarch and other devs to get away with bullshit stories....
you will be one of the people THANKFUL when Activision releases a Online only CoD game for $60 and then charges a monthly fee for updates....you can have that.....a game is more than just online components to me
Granger the chopper isnt that bad if you know where to go to avoid it...certain walls can be shot thru but not all....the damn dogs pretty much went EVERYWHERE....and didn't show up on the map which the helicopter does

I'm still rocking the Gears 2, Despite what everyone says, it IS a good game, and now that everyone is on MW2, there are no whiny kids, no dicks and no 'kill stealing'.
Also, being in the UK, I always get good connections this way because apparently the French don't play MW.

I think these numbers will probably shift a little bit next week. Not everyone had MW2 last week. I pre-ordered (from Amazon) and didn't get release day shipping, so I didn't have the game til Saturday. In the meantime, I played COD4 in anticipation.

So I wonder how Call of Duty Classic will do once its released to the public. Seemed pretty hard to get a match two nights after release. I guess why play with an old dog when you have three cuter puppies already available. But with the sales MW2 had and the online charts, I guess one might suggest that pretty much most xbox owners have at least one cod game in their collection

The numbers aren't vexing at all. They make perfect sense. People played CoD4 and World at War on Sunday and Monday as a way to prepare/warm-up for the upcoming release of MW2. If the activity list was based on time spent playing rather than UUs I am sure the list would have looked far different.
