GameStop earnings up in Q3, Modern Warfare 2 company's biggest launch ever

The top five games during the quarter were Madden NFL 10, Halo 3: ODST, Batman: Arkham Asylum, NBA 2K10 and Wii Sports Resort, with all titles having "exceeded" the company's initial sales expectations. GameStop also revealed thar Modern Warfare 2 -- which released in Q4 on November 10 -- sold 2.5 million copies at the retailer in 72 hours. GameStop CEO Daniel DeMatteo is optimistic and believes MW2 is a bellwether for the rest of the holiday season.

Why? They sold me my game the same way Wal Mart or Best Buy would have and as a buyer that's all I should care about.

I just don't like Gamestops business practices. Trying to sneak in used games and call them new. Buying games for 2 dollars and selling them for $39.99. Pushing bullshit market baskets on the point of harassment (No means NO). I know none of their practices are illegal, but to me they are still immoral in my eyes. So vote me down like a troll for speaking my mind, I don't fucking care.

I am right behind you on this. Here is a tip though that I use when purchasing from gamestop. If they try to hassle me into a used copy over a new copy, or into game informer subscriptions, I say no. If they push it simply tell them "No and if you ask again I am not buying anything period". It shuts them up very quickly.

Gamestop is the only place here on Maui that charges more than MSRP for games. Walmart, Kmart, Sears, are all normal price, Costco, obviously a bit cheaper.

The line at the MW2 launch was ridiculous. That's one bad thing about buying the 360 version, the line I had to wait in was about 4 times as large as the PS3 line. Everyone in the ps3 line got their game before my line had even thinned out half the crowd :(

bullshit. Even if the average, almost retarded, consumer understood why gamestop is bad, or cared about it or DLC, there's no way the baisc infrastructure to make DD viable would be in place, and even if it is, internet providers are only gonna tighten their grip on all those megabits. No way it's five, probably not even 10.

you may think I mean digital Distribution.....but I don't....Speacialty stores aren't going to be around forever with places like Wal-mart beefing up stock of their items for cheaper....lets look at Toy's R Us and Kay-Bee Toys....thanks to Wal-mart DRASTICALLY undercutting them on Toy prices the past 5 years, 1 has gone out of business and the other has closed HUNDREDS of stores...
Wal-mart has been slowly but steadily increasing their game space....and the ONLY thing Gamestop has over them is taking trade ins....and they RAPE YOU in doing so...
If Wal-mart were to get into selling and buying used games then Gamestop would be DONE....

Ahahaa, I just noticed all the extra miscolored blue. Not only is it a totally different shade from the rest of the blue on the side of the bulding, you also failed to color inside the lines, what with the giant blue blob seeping over into the white on the front of the building.
This is astoundingly bad.
