Microsoft lists more jobs for Project Natal, 343 Industries; hiring Shadow Complex, Gears of War franchises lead

With Shadow Complex setting very specific week-one sales records on XBLA, Epic and Chair would be kind of nuts to not consider a sequel. One job listing out of a recent crop on Microsoft's employment boards seems to out that likely scenario, implying that Shadow Complex is a bona fide franchise for Microsoft Game Studios and Epic. Said listing specifically calls for a Lead Producer to "lead the publishing side of games made by Epic: Gears of War and Shadow Complex."

Additionally, Microsoft appears to be looking for more able bodies to join its growing pool of Project Natal and 343 Industries employees. Existing job listings call for everything from designers to engineers to even a few artists. Sadly, the company isn't looking for MJOLNIR armor models yet, but just in case, Microsoft, you know how to reach us.

Not too surprised that they're doing a Shadow Complex sequel. I know a lot of people liked it.

But, even as a Halo fan...I just don't want someone else touching my Halo. I'm worried what 343 will do to it...no Natal! NO!

Isn't 343 made up of former Bungie people? I know that Frank O'Conner is over there. I could be wrong.

Frankie is over there, yes, but he didn't code the game. He was the PR and story guy.

It's like the Crash and Jak franchises after they left Naughty Dog's hands, or the Sonic franchise after it left Yuji Naka's hand, they all go downhill.

I'm not to high on 343 taking over Halo but I will give them a chance and see what they can do. We can't reject them yet until we find out what they are capable of.

Maybe I'm weird, but I always thought the story was the strongest part of Halo. So I figure as long as Frank's watching over what's going on, there wont be too much raping of the franchise going on.

Also, down voting someone isn't that much different from voting against a bill because you disagree with it. Someone created something you don't agree with, and you are voting against it. Be it written words in a comment field of written words that are soon to be law.

People hating on a game or developer because they happen to associate or have collaborated with someone who's ideals don't match up with yours.

I don't agree with Card either. Funny thing is, I played Shadow Complex from beginning to end before I ever knew Card was even involved, and certainly wouldn't have guessed from the game's story (which, for the most part, wasn't even penned by Card, but whatever).

His anti-homosexual attitude didn't even begin to have an impact or effect on Shadow Complex.

Maybe they're finally thinking about hiring a second network programmer for Gears. Can you believe one guy wrote all the netcode for Gears 1/2 himself? Well, I'm sure after playing it that's not surprising for most people, but still...

I believe it 100%. Gears 1 wasn't too bad - mainly host advantage and glitches - but Gears 2... for some reason I keep giving it another chance... just to find it's still like playing Duke Nuke'Em on my 14.4k modem back in the day. Pathetic.

The sad thing is that Joe Graff (I think his name is) has the cheek to go on the forums and say it can't possibly be his code that's at fault, we all suck and he is better than the rest of us.

The Gears netcode is a mess. He claims to have written the netcode for Unreal Tournament which wasn't half bad, so what went wrong? Obviously he screwed up and can't/won't admit to it.

I don't get how something so complex, intricate and error prone as netcode is left to one man on his own.

Actually, I though gears 1 had really great online. The only major problem was host advantage, but other than that it was pretty solid. I wish in 2 they had kept the server system like in gears 1, at least for unranked matches. Gears 1 had a fantastic server system and you could always play the game you wanted when you wanted to. The only improvement it would really need is a lobby system so joining with your friends would be easier. Gears 2 matchmaking is still just plain horrible, and then once you get into the game it's an unreliable mess as well. The only thing I know for sure is going to happen when I play Gears 2 is that something is going to go wrong, and somethings going to piss me off.

Get ready for another gears of war game. hope they dont screw this one up.

Hopefully they'll cease their involvement with Orson Scott Card before moving on with the franchise. And not just cause of they bigot thing - the book was terrible.

If they do Natal properly, I'm all for it.

However, I'm not going to sit back and watch my Xbox 360 turn into an HD Wii ripoff.

Can I just say HELL YES Shadow Complex Sequel? A new gears would be awesome but I'm going to hold off on buying it until I'm sure it's not completely broken this time.
