Rumor: Wal-Mart's Black Friday deals [update]

GamerDeals.net has posted what it claims are Wal-Mart's Black Friday deals and, if accurate, there are some serious savings to be had. Probably the most prominent deal would be the doorbuster on Rock Band 2 Special Edition for PS3 or 360, which will net you the full band kit and the game for a paltry $50. Another impressive deal, shoppers can pick up a PS3, Infamous, "Batman" (Arkham Asylum, we're assuming) and a copy of The Dark Knight for $299. In comparison, the Xbox 360 gets the lukest of lukewarm bundles ever, an Xbox 360 Arcade unit complete with the Madagascar 2 game and both Madagascar movies on DVD.

Other deals include select console titles for between $7 and $25, select PC games for $25 and a $98 doorbuster on DS Lites (time to clear that stock, amirite?). Head over to GamerDeals for the full rundown. We were unable to confirm the deals with Wal-Mart, though we were told that the official Black Friday announcement will arrive on Monday, November 23.

Update: Scans of Wal-Mart's ad are online, confirming the deals on the list -- except for the Rock Band 2 deal, which is actually the first Rock Band Special Edition for $50.

I'm sure a lot of the titles are crap but I too would like to see a complete list of the cheaper stuff. I'll definitely get Lock's Quest for 7 bucks.

What the hell? COD4 - $25 GTAIV- $10....From what I remember GTAIV came out after COD4 and sold a hell of a lot more. WTF?

Anyway, also Boondock Saints for 10 bucks on Blu-ray. Might have to make a trip over to Wal-mart next Friday.

$50 for Rock Band 2 is fantastic, but there is no way in hell that I'm going over there on Black Friday.

Who doesn't know that all the great console deals pop up around Black Friday? That's pretty much common sense.

Since Walmart will be pricematching on BF, I am assuming that it will be done @ each register by each cashier, because it would be beyond hellish to wait in line @ the customer service desk.

It seems that this is just 360 & PS3 versions of Rockband. No Wii? If not, then I may still pick it up for the PS3 since it's quite a steal @ that price.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to import your own songs (mp3's) into Rock Band? I know it's possible on the homebrew channel for the Wii.

They do have the Rock Band Network, which will let you use a Windows-based PC to "sell" songs in Rock Band. You might try looking for more information on that to see if a song you want is already available. Otherwise, as far as I understand Rock Band can't analyze a song and automatically create note charts for it, so that would be no to importing MP3 files.

Good god, man, does your mother not let you out later than 9PM, or have you just never had to wake up earlier than noon? If I had money, I could very easily just take a bus to one of these stores around midnight and just wait there at the front of the line playing my PSP or DS. It would be incredibly fun...in fact, I might do it ANYWAY just to see a horde of people flip out, running like zombies to get Left 4 Dead 2 at discount prices.

If you think it's fun to wait in line 5 hours in 30 degree weather to get the CHANCE of getting a PS3 at $299 with 2 free games, and a movie then go right ahead. No one's stopping you.

Personally, I think if you have a job you're better off just buying the shit rather than becoming one of the Black Friday people -- Or worse, one of the people KILLED by the Black Friday people.

Is there anyway to tell what the bulk lists of games in any of the console categories actually are without going to Walmart next Friday morning?
I bought my PS3 at Walmart on Black Friday two years ago (got the Motorstorm PS3 bundle with 10 free bluray movies, $500)..

Wow. I sent them an ACTUAL scan of the wal-mart black friday ad, DAYS AGO. And instead, they sit on it and then promote some dumb website and call it a "rumor". Real good reporting! That "send us a tip" tab is worthless. Only use it if you plan on including cash and agree to advertise on this site.

I'm not going to lie, but I agree with this guy. I'm not sure how these guys can take their job that seriously when they post a RUMOR that not only is false, but whose answer has been known FOR DAYS. Hell, google any major Black Friday website and you can clearly see the Wal-Mart (and many other stores) adscans.

Seriously though Joystiq, pick up the f***ing slack!

Yup, if you look at the actual ad scans (which have been out for a few days), it shows Rock Band Special Edition for $50.

The key here is that there's no "2" in there. It's the original Rock Band kit. :(

No Wii rock band 2, No buy.
