God of War Collection players complain of freezing issues

Some folks over on the official PlayStation Forums allege to be having trouble playing God of War Collection. Several users are complaining that the game has been locking up on them, specifically after God of War's first cutscene and during the first mission. Most of the people who claim to be running into this freezing issue are running the game on 60GB launch PS3s, though a few PS3 Slim owners have also jumped into the threads to report the game is locking up on them, too.

Additionally, commenters on PlayStation.Blog have reported the same problem and specifically implicate 60GB PS3s. While we didn't experience such issues playing the final game code on a debug PS3 unit, we've contacted Sony for comment on this report and will update as necessary.

Exact same thing happened to me. I thought it was my ps3 because it's been having some issues lately. As soon as the game play actually starts it freezes, you can still hear sound though. As for the demo, it doesn't come in the box. They give you a code you have to put in then you can DL it. The demo works great for me though.

Apparently 14 weeks of development wasn't enough.

I was literally just about to start the GOW collection for the first time when I read this and I have a 60GB launch PS3, I hope it works out...

I played it all evening with no problems, guess I lucked out

The only reason I regret downvoting you is that I can no longer report you now.

I also had a cople freezes while playing GOW1 with a brand new slim 250 gig, So i believe it is a software error and needs a patch

Hey everyone...i just got the GOW collection a few days back. Of course like all GOW fans i couldnt wait to try it out. Low and behold it doesnt work. First there is GOW 1 which just freezes at the title screen no matter how many times i try. Then there is GOW 2. I actually played this one for a while until the first minigame after u stab the giant in the eye and are flung into water where it just hangs over and over again. Yes the game is brand new meaning no scratches or fingerprints at all. Im running on the 40GB fat PS3 with 2 usb ports....Help would be appreciated

I figured out a work around for the freezing issue. I have a first gen 60gig PS3 and was experiencing the freezing issue.

The way I got around it was logging in to my friend's new PS3 slim, playing past the first save point, then transferring the save file to a flash drive. I then loaded the file on my 60gig, logged in with the same user, and the game plays fine with no freezing. I'm inside Pandora's temple with not a problem so far (knock on wood).

I had the same freezing issue when I tried playing GoW2 where it got stuck right when the next section of the level loads from the beginning. I assume this work around would solve that problem too.

Hope this helps. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
