MMO teaches kids all about road safety ... by keeping them safely indoors
Edutainment title Code of Everand is the UK Department of Transport's effort to teach children road safety. The free MMO is targeted at 9-13 year olds and attempts to "encourage and reward" repetition of good behaviors for the real world. The premise is actually surprisingly clever, with players taking the role of the Pathfinders and endeavoring to safely cross "the Spirit Channels," which are glowing streams, laid out like roads filled with monsters.
On that note, if children from almost any other country play the game, remember to first look left before crossing the Spirit Channels and not right -- that's a free protip. Check out the Everand trailer after the break.

This looks pretty good.

Does the side we drive on affect which way we look first? I'm trying to think which way i look first, and i can't remember.
Anyway, more countries drive on the left than on the right. ;-)

I will be impressed if this works.

I think MMO is doing a commendable job of teaching road safety norms to kids which make them aware about traffic rules. I found related website children.co.in which make kids more interactive and sharpen their skills

Awesome to see the goverment taking a positie outlook on videogames, i hope this works well for them, if it saves one life then it's worth the development cost.

This actually looks decent so I may look into it a little more.
I have a feeling, however, that the 'Code of Everand' which they have to seek out would just happen to be the 'Green Cross Code'.

Child crosses road!
It's ineffective...
Dammit, that sounded cooler in my head.
This actually looks pretty high quality, but it sounds like whatever making it is an evil wizard and that the code is really a powerbox to switch it all off.
We shall see...

One of those monsters in the spirit stream looked like it had a Toyota logo on its nose.

Isn't it left right left in America already? Don't you mean right left right if you're switching it?

Its a UK game, you're misreading the article.

Road safety first. This should be the priority of all the drivers to avoid accidents. I have found best gadgets to keep you safe in terms of road safety. First is No Nap . If you are feeling drowsy but needed to keep yourself on the road and just want to make it to your destination as soon as possible without causing a major accident. And you have tried all the un-effective strategies to keep you awake just like drinking 10 cups of coffee, blasting some punk music, or drinking some old stuff like energy drink this is the best gadget for you. The No Nap is a small, easy to use, device that will keep you and others safe during a long, drowsy drive. All you need to do is turn the device on, adjust the wake up angle switch, and place it behind your ear. Then when your head slumps forward as you begin to doze off behind the wheel, the No Nap produces a loud, powerful beeping noise that will snap you out of your snooze. It runs on low battery consumption, and its ergonomic design fits comfortably behind your ear. This gadget has been popular with truckers who spend long hours on the road and it could be useful for keeping many others safe on the highway as well. So why take a risk in driving you might not just save your life but start caring for others too
