There's some good news for the PC players of Left 4 Dead 2. You no longer have to worry about whether Valve will be bringing the original Left 4 Dead campaigns into the sequel. You see, crafty modders over at l4dmods.com have already implemented the original maps into Left 4 Dead 2. Valve hasn't actually released an SDK for Left 4 Dead 2 yet, so making this mod work will require users to change some files in the original game (and yes, you do have to own both games to make it work). There are some known issues and bugs and, needless to say, it's not the most user-friendly mod out there, but it's probably a small price to pay for the dedicated users.
So, if you want to see a Spitter on the roof of Mercy Hospital (and we know you do), you can. Watch a video of the mod in action after the break.
Modders these days, you wonder if they even try playing the game for a few days before trying to break it down and build it back up... still cool though.
I wonder what the spitter looked like before she was zombified. Was her neck always so long and did her breasts always reach her toes? She may have been beautiful.
i noticed in the menu that they have integrated add on content/mods to be easily accessible. Surprising the amount of work around required... I plan to just get the really quality easy to install mods anyhow of NEW stuff, still cool though. Maybe i'll check it out when they get a proper way with the dead 2 dev kit, i don't want to reinstall the first one.
I image the add on options in the menu is nonexistant on the 360 version..
I dont know what's scarier, being close enough to get that shot, meeting the guy turned on by how big her mouth is, or the fact that that's her "O" face.
That comment made my night. I just got done playing thru the online co-op of the demo. It was pretty awesome once I found a game in progress that wasn't a bunch of damn noobs wanting to shoot you for no reason and then refusing to revive you...or those pricks whom would keep closing the door on purpose when you're trying to open it to enter the room for the next area.
I played the game for co-op mode. NOT douchebag mode.
Queued this article up in the dark on my iPod on my way upstairs to go to sleep. Dammit Joystiq now you've got me checking all over my house for zombies. There need to be a Not Safe For Sleep tag (NSFS?) or something :P
Hi all been looking for a place to release my almost fully automatic installation of L4D1 maps into L4D2.
This should be easy enough for anyone and there is only one executable involved which you can scan and if you still don't trust can get an original copy by googling "GCFScape 1.7.3 Download"
There are multiple batch files, which again if you don't trust please feel free to mull them over in notepad but they are harmless, just trying to spread the l4d1 map install here so we can possibly get some online lobbies going in the future.
L4D1's maps should be free DLC, this is your proof of concept valve! give a good faith present, L4D2 should have been DLC anyway. But for now more L4D2 for me PC all the way!
