Mystery VGA teaser revealed as Spec Ops

It appears as though yesterday's mystery teaser for the upcoming Spike TV Video Game Awards, featuring a CGI scene of a war in Dubai, is actually not the newest teaser in the world. Revealed back in August, the clip is said to be from upcoming 2K Games franchise reboot Spec Ops.

Originally, the title was claimed by EGM rumor mill "Quartermann" to be in development in the shuttered magazine's July 2008 issue. 1UP claims the title to be confirmed by the 90-second teaser trailer that we've dropped after the break. We'd suggest checking it out simply for the fact that it contains more footage than the teaser from yesterday, but the fact that Björk is involved makes us all the more inclined to recommend a viewing. For those of you thirsting for more, your next chance to see the game will be at 2009's world exclusive-filled VGAs. We've contacted 2K Games for comment and will update this post if we hear more.

okay, I just watched it the second time, and this time the entire video stopped shorter than before (the first time I watched it there was like 10 extra seconds and it ended with a shot of a human skull)

Spec Ops? I can hardly contain my excitement, and I look forward to the other high quality AAA reveals at the vga's /sarcasm

I dunno what I'm supposed to think of a CGi teaser and a name, I kinda wish they would just announce the game with details, not 'tease' us, I don't feel teased :/

that video made no progress what-so-ever. all i know that Dubai is trashed, and the sound is messed up. It looks cool but just kinda weird

Spec Ops is among the worst series I've ever played. It's always been nothing but bargain bin trash, a poor man's Rainbow Six. Reboot or not, they'd be better off starting with a new IP instead of trying to market this garbage. Even if the game turns out well, the name will always be a stigma.

Speaking of Rainbow 6, when are we getting a new one of those?

Excuse the noobness, but what exactly does IP stand for?
Ive searched online but have yet to find anything relevant.

You get to write it off once, unless you are as big as the Wall Street Journal.

IP = Intellectual Property. It also means Internet Protocol, but common sense deems that the casual mention of IP on a gaming discussion means the former unless followed by "address."

Can somebody please explain to me what's so bad ass about this? Like I don't get it. I feel like it's a totally bad ass trailer, and I'm enjoying watching it like a totally bad ass trailer, and I'm now interested in the game like a totally bad ass trailer is supposed to do, but I don't get why.

Listen to the song backwards. It's mind control I tell you, MIND CONTROL!

Na seriously though, if the trailer is any indication of the direction of the game, then this could be a pretty good game.

I remember the Spec Ops games on PS1. They fuckin blew.

I remember the first Spec Ops being awesome. Haven't played it in ten years, and never played the sequels, so I have no idea if I should be excited.

If its cheap on the sales floor the game will move. All I remember of the Spec-Op's game is moderate graphic's and being really cheap at the time, like $9.99. If they want to impress me have a option to go from 1st person to 3rd person and a multi-tiered branching storyline to increase playablity. Oh and obviously great online.

So this is a standalone release of MW2's Spec Ops mode?
