'Normal' Monopoly now on iPhone

We had previously criticized the Xbox 360 take on the classic board game for costing $30, especially when the non-virtual version is under $20 at most retailers, so $5 doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

So, the Xbox version of Monopoly ain't a Monopoly no more ?
That Guy @ Nov 21st 2009 6:08AM
You are truly a terrifying individual.
Phix @ Nov 21st 2009 5:35AM
That's the worst iteration of Monopoly Guy ever.
jonbo298 @ Nov 21st 2009 9:05AM
Would you prefer Wilford Brimley to be Mr. Monopoly? Just picture him smiling from one 'stache to the other jumping out on the cover.
Markusdragon @ Nov 21st 2009 11:25AM
I preferred when he was called "Rich Uncle Pennybags" rather than just "Mr. Monopoly". Hasbro have a lot to answer for.
Ridgecity @ Nov 21st 2009 10:19PM
why would they add eyes? the coolest thing about the Monopoly guy was his soulless stare with big black eyes, buying whole blocks of property and setting high rent land values to suck the lives of the tenants.
Ashitaka @ Nov 21st 2009 8:58AM
This is like the saddest Monopoly ever. I'll probably get burned for this, but this is one of the many board games that should -never- have been turned into a video game. Play the real deal! For instance, how the hell will you steal money from your friends? Or pay them less than what you own them? :P

Or cheat idiotic players out of valuable properties for a pittance?
It depends on whether they have the "House Rules" variation that MB added a few years back to legalize the was everyone played Monopoly.
LegendaryRedass @ Nov 21st 2009 12:08PM
I agree. Monopoly is a great game, and should be enjoyed in reality, and house rules make it even better.
Schiller311 @ Nov 21st 2009 1:48PM
I bought this today when I saw this announcement; my wife and I can play it over wi-fi on both of our iPhones. It does have House Rules in which you can choose how much Free Parking is, etc. It's a pretty decent iteration and should definitely be checked out for fans of Monopoly. After all, it's only $5 and it's a lot of fun so far.

Heh. When I saw the title, I thought this article was about AT&T.
Cory Birdsong @ Nov 21st 2009 11:25AM
Too bad Monopoly is not a good board game. For a good board game on the iPhone, download Catan.
pj @ Nov 21st 2009 4:41PM

Why didn't they just make every square Mayfair so that the owners of these devices could feel at home paying over the odds once again?
Jason @ Dec 16th 2009 6:01PM
Is there a way this can be played with iphone/ipod users but using a computer running linux, bsd, mac, windows or any other operating system? I would love to play with my friends who have proprietary devices, but with my laptop.
