Try PSP Digital Comics with these free codes
If you've downloaded firmware 6.20 for your PSP, you'll be able to access the Digital Comics service, featured under the new "Extras" section of the XMB. While the PlayStation Store won't offer comics until next month, Sony is offering fans an early sneak peek at the service by offering free codes through the official PlayStation Comics website. Americans will be able to get the first issue of Transformers: All Hail Megatron, while Europeans can download the first issue of Aleister Arcane.
Each issue will take about 40MB of space on your Memory Stick / PSP Go. To get your trial codes, visit the PlayStation Comics website.

Extinction @ Nov 21st 2009 4:46PM
Of course canada gets screwed over as usual
hesit8 @ Nov 22nd 2009 12:06PM
The only problem is you have to have space for this stuff. The comic reader app is 1024MB; yes, that is 1GB.
Andrew Yoon @ Nov 22nd 2009 1:34PM
The program is 1MB, not 1GB.
hesit8 @ Nov 22nd 2009 5:53PM
huh, you're right. Before it was telling me 1000-some "MB," and I definitely read "MB." That's why I didn't download it the first time. Weird...
Shoyz @ Nov 21st 2009 3:30AM
Looks like all of them say Megatron, which doesn't interest me.
killdash9 @ Nov 21st 2009 3:32AM
There are a total of 4 codes being given out to American PSN users:
EC2N-9HBR-HJD6 - Transformers: All Hail Megatron #1
724K-A4BG-JLD7 - Star Trek Year Four: The Enterprise Experiment #1 (by DC Fontana!)
63N8-R2BF-9E4D - Aleister Arcane #1
FF3N-H7B6-M2JF - Astro Boy: Movie Adaptation #1 (not by Osamu Tezuka, but I still liked the movie!)
My problem is that I am unfortunately getting a "download failed (8010A12E)" error every time one of the downloads completes. A PSN user at the PS Blog noted that you can work around this by deactivating and reactivating your PSP for Videos/Comics, but I think I'll just wait until Sony fixes this for real. Not a fan of unsanctioned user-side workarounds. Note that the codes are only usable one time, but a failed download will remain in your Transaction Management -> Download List for later retries. Also, the codes will only work on your PSP, not via Media Go or a PS3, according to the PS Blog.
nutman @ Nov 21st 2009 12:06PM
Cool! Thanks for the codes. Astro Boy and Star Trek both downloaded, but I think I messed up the transformers code. on the download screen i hit 'Ok' instead of 'Download' and it kicked me out of the screen, and now the code wont work. It doesn't appear in my previous downloads either.
Big D. @ Nov 21st 2009 12:17PM
I tried downloading the Transformers one, the only one I'd be interested in, before reading this and it failed so I did the fix you mentioned but it doesn't show it in my download list and I can't re-use the code. Any suggestions? I can confirm that the fix worked though, I was able to download Astro Boy.
killdash9 @ Nov 21st 2009 2:07PM
If it doesn't appear in the Download List, then I don't really know what you should do. Contact Sony, I guess. The PS Blog entry with the Star Trek code has a bunch of user comments complaining about failures. Sorry I can't help.

If you got that failed message, you should try deactivating the Videos/Comics on your PSP. You can do this by going to Account Management>System Activation>Videos/Comics . After that, try to download it. If the comic does does not show up on the download list on the PS Store, go to Accoount Management>Transaction Management>Download List, and the comic should be there, then download it. Something that i found out was that, if you're downloading a comic and it takes like, 55 seconds to download, it's probably gonna give you the failed message, while if it takes 4-6 minutes to download, then its right. Hope I was of some help! :) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>Thanks to Ariel
killdash9 @ Nov 23rd 2009 5:17PM
The PSNComics Twitter messages indicate that PSPs which have been previously activated for PSN Video content may be the ones susceptible to the comics download errors. That is, the prior Video activation is preventing the new Video/Comics (they are merged under firmware 6.20) activation from going through properly. Thus, you end up having to deactivate and reactivate. If this theory is correct, then the PSPs which had no trouble downloading the comics demos had not previously had PSN Video content activation. Please note, this is all supposition at this time; Sony has not confirmed that this is the actual issue.
Marcus Carter @ Nov 21st 2009 3:36AM
keep getting download error 8010A12E
TONY @ Nov 21st 2009 3:40AM
deactivate the video/comic in your profile management, then download and reactive it. that should work
Chow @ Nov 21st 2009 4:18AM
I'm thinking this isn't supposed to work for Canadians because of licensing issues.
The Comic Reader app didn't have a Canadian link to download from, though you could just lie and say you're from one of the listed countries. But the codes don't work for me, either because of my Account Info saying I'm from Canada, or because of IP locking.
Ameen @ Nov 21st 2009 5:18AM
CE is your friend :D
If you have CE, try the PSPComic or Bookr (PDF wiv Chinese, Japanese, Korean text support) if ya like Manga ! :D
Ameen @ Nov 21st 2009 5:11AM
I would try this out, but I live outside U.S. ( Yeah, there's still life out here ! ) Also, I was looking to flash it back to 5.50 M33 since my cousin put in the Transformer UMD and updated it to OE :(
P.S: You guys need to use plugins and other homebrew shit ! Its dope !!! :D (Soz, PSP GO Guys)
Kinsey @ Nov 21st 2009 5:12AM
Again not valid in Canada -_- and this so would have made my weekend.
Ameen @ Nov 21st 2009 5:15AM
If you have CE you *SHOULD* try PSPComic !! or Bookr if ya want more format support ! :D
Omega2k3 @ Nov 21st 2009 5:29AM
You know what IS valid in Canada?
Your avatar is. It's possibly the MOST valid in Canada. I'm not even Canadian.
Ameen @ Nov 21st 2009 5:12AM
There's a ton of Homebrew Readers out there, just try them out ! No regional restrictions on them AFAIK :D
Ameen @ Nov 21st 2009 5:14AM
PSPComic or Bookr if ya want more format support ! :D
Raider197 @ Nov 22nd 2009 8:35AM
Shut the fuck up about it dude
Scuffles @ Nov 21st 2009 9:35AM
Thats really nice of them!!!
still not going to get me to upgrade to 6.2 so at some point in the future I can subscribe to their revolutionary pay us and not actually get a physical copy of your comic service.... Oh and whatever security updates 6.2 crams in.
I'll stick to my good oll brick and mortar comic shops for my comic needs, and I'll upgrade my firmware when it either has something interesting and useful above and beyond new DRM or some new game I buy on UMD forces me to.
IanC @ Nov 21st 2009 12:31PM
Erm, once downloaded if i decide i don't want it... how do a delete it?
Seems the only title for us UKers is the transformers one.
Divine @ Nov 21st 2009 12:50PM
For UK users...
Transformers: All Hail Megatron #1
A8D2-KMBF-JKE4
Aleister Arcane #1
ANTL-MGBH-BN2H
Kalee @ Nov 21st 2009 1:25PM
AGAIN Canadians get screwed outta the cool fun stuff ... we get teased with all this amazing new functionality from a new firmware update ... and then its snatched away! When is Sony Canada going to get together with SCEA and get things done??
Gibbeynator @ Nov 21st 2009 1:24PM
Lucky... I'm not allowed to get these because Sony doesn't believe Canada is real.
Plastic Rat @ Nov 23rd 2009 12:14AM
Worse here, I don't even get a comic book option on my PSP. Likely because it was bought in Asia.
ariel @ Nov 21st 2009 1:46PM

Thanks a lot Ariel, that helped me a lot
Optimaximal @ Nov 21st 2009 1:51PM
Don't read AHM if you value TF canon - they basically tore up all the groundwork laid down by the earlier story arcs, leaving a complete clusterfuck in its wake.
Åsom @ Dec 2nd 2009 3:12PM
No comics in Norway either..
We pay twise the price, but get no content.
PS3 Slim: 442,93$
Uncharted 2: 115,16$
Videos: Not available
Comic: Sorry, nope.. can't get it..
Xeones25 @ Nov 21st 2009 9:57PM
Why is the comic book reader a GB? And why are the comics 40 MB?
The reader that I have for my computer is 5 MB and most digital comic books are 10 MB. There is no reason for Sony's comic reader to be 200 times the size of another comic book reader. Unless of course the program creates some crazy time warp that stops time around you so reading the comics doesn't take any time out of your day. Then I could understand it taking a full GB.
jcj2391 @ Nov 21st 2009 11:16PM
because it was a moving comic page................if you click next there is some animation like rumbling or slow move to the next page to see how good it was check the video below

Andrew Yoon @ Nov 22nd 2009 12:22AM
It's not a GB. The program is 1MB.
Space @ Nov 22nd 2009 2:24PM
will these ever be available on the PS3? I'd like to have some digital comics but I'd also like to view them on a nice big screen...also I don't have a psp
