Weekly Webcomic Wrapup has turkey on the brain

You know what happens in five days? Turkey happens. It's difficult for us to think about things that aren't turkey at the moment -- unless those things are stuffing-based. We only managed to compile the seven comics below by pretending that instead of being about video games, they focused on sweet potato casserole. With brown sugar. And cinnamon crumbs. And little marshmallows. And oh man is it Thursday yet?

ode to missions is the best

If Ode to Minions doesn't come out on top I will personally...be pissed off.

I personally can't see how the others can even compete...it was beautiful...

Anyone who doesn't vote for BitF doesn't have a soul.

I traded mine in for mastery of the dark side of the Force.

But I still voted for Ode to Minions.

As if I needed incentive to join the dark side...

I hear the lightning is pretty sweet, too.

And no, I don't know Lightning spells. That's Black Mage. Being a Blank Mage, I have no black, white, red, blue, or time spells. I specialize in a distinct lack of anything.

The lightning is pretty cool, yes, but you've got to be careful with that stuff. I mean, look at what happened to Palpatine...

And one of my predecessors burned a hole in his palm. Moron.

I didn't even have to read the rest to give it to Brawl in the Family. That is by far the definite winner on this one.

But I did read the rest, and for once all of them were fantastic (except for Penny Arcade, but eh whatever).

I'm not a hater either. Look at mah name! It's from a U2 song, I'm over this whole "lets hate everything popular" thing.

I just think it was kind of weak this time.

Is it weird that I lit a candle for the goomba's?

I enjoyed the effort in BITF. http://ofnoobsandmen.com/2008/04/22/mushroom-kingdom-mortal/ But VirtShack and DU made me laugh the most.

DU definitely made me laugh, the others didn't. While I enjoyed BitF's song, I didn't think it was funny enough to lol. The comic didn't stand out on it's own, and I was just judging the comics, without any audio.

Ofnoobs was funny!

Why does the WWW have to be so few comics every week?

Dipswitch made me laugh, but BitF got my vote.

Ode to Minions definitely but Pokémon Green and Who Does That? are also very good

Ode to Minions is definitely the best webcomic ever.

I voted "Who does that?" because I am one of those inverters. I just don't know HOW anyone can play without it. Although on PC i use normal controls.

I'd also like to say Ode to Minions was pretty epic.

I liked "Who Does That".

What's up with this whole basement thing? I've been visited Joystiq for over 2 years, and make on average 3 comments a day.

I honestly cannot see why this makes me some obsessed person in their basement.

Hey, I play inverted on my shooters. Ever since Star Fox 64, I just have not been able to play regular. And yes, as the post says on EL, it is an old-school flight sim habit, as far from being a "flight sim" that SF64 can be.

Its strange how things work ya know?

See, when I play StarFox (the original), I can't use inverted.

But that's just me.

Same here, inverted just makes more sense to me, not really sure why.

I invert for flight sims, but keep first-person shooter controls normal. Is that weird or is that what most people do?

Flight's inverted, FPS is normal. I noticed that a while ago, when my siblings couldn't get the hang of Starfox 64 themselves... Damn, I can recite the entire games dialogue by heart.

Sign me up on the inverted list, I have always played that way. You are, after all, using a joystick to control the camera. Why wouldn't I use it like I would in an flight sim? A good percentage of the people I know play inverted.

I always play my games inverted. I find that when people don't understand why I try to tell them to visualize the stick as your head. When you pull back you are pulling your head back and thus looking up. I don't know why but I can't play on non-inverted. I end up just looking at the ground the whole game.

On consoles inverted makes more sense to me. It's the explanation above that is the reason. On PC I don't invert though as it's more moving the mouse trigger upwards to look up.

It all comes down to the camera for me. if it's third person I need it inverted, because making the camera go up means my aim will go down(ie. games like starfox), but if it's first person I need it normal.

I guess I just think geometrically like that.

Is it just me, or has Dipswitch been going downhill lately?

Apart from a few good Dragon Age comics...the rest have been kinda lame.
