I don't necessarily think iPods are for 'idiot hipsters'. I've owned two, and while they're good devices, they're not for everyone. Personally, I'm switching to a X-Series Walkman or a Zune after my Touch gives up, but that's because I find the iPod's audio quality isn't up to snuff.

For the average person, though, an iPod would be their best choice. They just work.

iPods and anything Mac related is THE SHIT. I'll never buy another PC for home computing purposes and with parallels maybe never one work the next time around. They cost more but they are optimized for the hardware and aren't run on 600 subsets of hardware configurations. We are mostly a Sony & Apple household on everything electronic except our TV's (Sharp & Panasonic) but in terms of a PMP it gets no better than an iPod, iPhone iteration. I don't consider myself a trendy hipster rather I consider myself informed and someone who likes to buy quality products that stand the test of time. For me, thats Apple and Sony products.

In terms of the PSP Go:
I had bought one at launch (it's literally the sexiest device ever) and I'm all for an all digital format but mine had dead pixels. I traded it in for a working one but the tipping point for me was that my Gran Turismo PSP save was locked to the original PSP Go. I think it's because all of your cars transfer to GT5 but still it was bad enough I said screw it. I'll pick another one up when they square the price away and eventually figure out how to get all their games on PSN day and date of the UMD's.

"Because extremely overpriced technology that gives no benefit over its older version(s) flopping is a very good thing."

So THATS why you hated on the Wii for so long. It's an overclocked, online gamecube with internal storage and motion controls, so i guess it was kinda pricey for what it was initially. Didn't stop it being a roaring success and certainly hasn't stopped me playing it nearly every day since launch. NSMB FTW!

I'll put my two cents in.
Digital distribution on Sony's end, is not bad at all.
The only thing I cringe about on the Go is the B wireless.
I have one and i use Media Go if i want to download something.

That's not why I disliked the Wii (it's still way overpriced btw), and the fact that you said "didn't stop tons from buying it" proves exactly what I said about them and Apple. They successfully sold an image to a bunch of idiots who will buy any and everything from them no matter how overpriced it is. Sony wishes they could do the same.

Why else would Wii Fit and all the other shovelware sell so much?

Once again, Sony arrogance shoots itself in the foot - luckily for them, they have been achingly slow ironing out the other issues as time has progressed! Go Sony! Reach for the.... second place... or something... if it honestly mattered to anyone but stockholders and fanboys..

Still though, maybe PSP 4000 will have a nice screen that doesn't screw with games and a good price *Crosses fingers*

Interesting...very interesting.

I thought the PS3 would have slid more than it has.

Maybe the Japanese are just stocking up for FFXIII?

I guess I could imagine a company being obsessed with a football game if they made it. Otherwise, no, I can't imagine it.

Yes! That's how you do it. Finally, after many many years, joystiq has managed to do a post about football that doesn't piss off the entire non-american readership! Way to go guys, I'm proud of you!

(though it probably won't generate as many hits as the usual troll-baiting tone, so i hope your pay doesn't go down too much)

I wonder if I contributed to these numbers as I ordered a Japanese 360 last week. Well I'll have a PS3 and a 360 once it arrives on Wednesday.
