I'm keeping my excitement tempered on this one. It looks great, but as far as I know, you can't get off the train whenever you want. Exploration is part of what makes Zelda so great, and to fetter that may lose some of the appeal. Having said that, I'll keep an open mind and hope for the best.

I want a survival horror Zelda game in the vein of resident evil 4. ...now that would be badass. Run around a village tucked away in the kokori forest, slaying skull kids and redeads, all the while conserving arrows and magic power and trying to save Zelda. Oh man.

What is with all the Phantom Hourglass hate?! It was one of the best ds games I ever played, who cares about repeating a single dungeon numerous times.

Personally I loved Phantom hourglass and didn't mind repeating the dungeon what so ever. Its not like you re entered it every other 3min and it wasn't like it was hard, I had a blast to be honest..... If anything the ship was infinity more repetitive and boring and people seem to have no problem with it so go figure.

I agree that it was an amazing game. However did nintendo really have to make you play the parts of the temple you already beat over and over and over and over. Yeah you catch my drift.

That whirlwind mechanic sounds gimmicky as hell. I figured that this far into the DS's cycle Nintendo would be done trying to throw in gimmicks with the hardware, but I guess not.

Microphone based input really annoys me. It almost always malfunctions in environments with high background noise like riding in a car or on the bus, or almost any public location, or just sitting outside when there is a little bit of a breeze.

I agree. Unless there's another input method for that skill, this has moved to "don't bother" for me.

If there is anything that resembles, looks like, or plays like the temple of the ocean king there will be blood!

With both this and New SMB Wii, I have the following reaction:

1: I'm excited.
2: I'm scared.

Excited because these games seem to tap into some extremely enjoyable well of basically-perfect game design principles.

Scared because it seems like Nintendo is running up against the boundaries of its self-imposed creative limitations.

These can be exciting times, though. Sometimes, when you seem to be stifled by the boundaries of your old designs, it means you're close to breaking into new territory. I hope this is true in the case of Nintendo.

There's still no other company that understands the fundamentals of video game excellence as well as they do.

Nintendo's going Van Halen with video games:
Were great in the early years, (NES, SNES)
sucked when they replaced the frontman, (N64, not saying it sucked, just saying Nintendo sucked at the time)
kind of broke up for a while, (Gamecube, just didn't seem like nintendo)
Got back together years later (Wii)

I've been not so interested in the Zelda series for most of my life, and I must say, this game might change that. The controls look amazing, and the gameplay blew my mind. I hope to hear more about multiplayer, PH's was kind of lacking in the variety department.

I dunno, Nintendo had they're wild side cartoony game with Windwaker - which was awesome. These recent string of cartoony games on hand helds has yet to impress me, like someone said earlier I'm just not on with the hype. Twilight Princess was good, pretty much any zelda game pre wii was consistently good if not awesome, but I think they should be working harder on their main stream epic rpgs instead of these little tide me over till the next BIG zelda game comes out

Pity, the game uses the cel-da style well, but it really suffers from the DS's low res screen.

Problem with this game is you constantly have to blow on your DS, and its hard to play in public without getting embarrassed. =|
