I recall touching on a case to do with lawsuits of similar absurdity; a woman purchased an RV, had it on cruise control and went on to take a shower. She crashed the RV but cited that the RV manufacturer wasn't clear enough on the term 'cruise control' seeing as she left the vehicle to run on its course while taking a shower.

Now clearly, she got the inspiration from K.I.T.T, nes pa? As I recall, Kitt was quite the work of timeless machinery and computing power, and having 'cruise control' and 'pursuit' mode switched on, meant that Michael Knight could be left free to clamber atop the roof of the Trans Am Firebird, readying himself on making the leap of fate to tackle down a helicopter that suspiciously only hovers about 2 meters off the ground.

Ah, the amusement.

Portal screwed my mind. I didn't go in public for months after that traumatizing event. I stayed in the corner of my basement.

"So how does this professional plaintiff idea work?"

1. Be a waste of space.
2. Find a sleazy lawyer
3. File suit in TX
4. Profit

*There is no "?????" step, unfortunately.

I'm willing to bet he also voted for Obama under the assumption he was gonna get free money.

Lawyers only encourage this behavior, and should be stopped. Lawyers in the US have gotten completely out of control. Every 3 seconds, I see another commercial for an ambulance chaser, on my TV.

I won't even get into the JUDGES WHO DON'T DISMISS THESE CLEARLY FRIVILOUS SUITS!

The mere encouragement, as in this case, given to these scum sucking lawyers so graciously, is an understatement. I think it would be fair to say that these particular lawyers scour up and down, roaming the free borderlands of the vastitudes of desert plains for anyone stupid enough to tumble past them with their clause like a tumbleweed without direction or cause, only to be roped in without a bait!

Bait, as in common sense.

Wow.. I am traumatized now. I think I'm suing joystiq for showing me how to sue a gaming company.

Why? because now I want to sue too just for the hell of it.
How am I traumatized? I feel like a fool for not thinking of that before it was posted.
How much do I want? Hmmm.. joystiq can you afford $1,000,000,000,000,000.00.

See you in court Joystiq. :D

So, going by this, if enough PC gamers decided to, they could sue Activision/IW over MW2 lacking actual MP? Or say Ubisoft for forcing the install of a known virus, one that causes hardware failures and is a severe security risk, in order to play their games? Or for that matter, any company that forced any form of DRM virus on the PC gamers who actually bought their product (instead of, you know, pirating it, like the people who didn't have a virus installed on their computer without their knowledge or permission)?

I doubt it'll happen. People would rather boycott the companies by buying the game, despite the viruses/lack of playable MP/whatever they're boycotting it for, than do anything. Or for that matter, sue over being banned for being a pirate (and thus, the reason these damn companies are removing real MP and installing viruses on our computers).
