LittleBigPlanet PSP coming out on PSN tomorrow, patch available now
This past week has been one long LittleBigDisappointment for early PSP Go adopters due to unforeseen technical snafus which prevented SCE Studio Cambridge's adorable platformer from jumping onto the PSN. Fortunately, the latest "Sack it to Me" news update brings word that the game will finally be available to download tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Perhaps even more newsworthy than that is the fact that the studio has already launched a patch for the title which "will improve the performance of some of the physics and tools in the Create mode." To download the game-specific update -- a fairly new feature on the handheld -- make sure you're connected to the internet, select the game's icon on the XMB, press Triangle, and select "Update." Now, sit back, and prepare to witness unthinkable technowizardry in the palm of your hand. Or hands, should you still be using the original double-wide PSP.

Really? Game updates weren't allowed before?
DarkSan00 @ Nov 23rd 2009 6:26PM
COOL! patches on the psp. This means devs won't take more time to polish their stuff, and memory sticks will be filled up far more than usual.

If you have a PSP Go!
Then you're fucked.
CrashSpyro123 @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:17PM
Yeah, they should stay broken forever!
Orion @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:50PM
Why are Go users fucked? We have SD card slots along with internal memory space you know, right?
Not THAT Matt @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:56PM
The PSN Store has lacked a HUGE amount of PSP games since the PSP Go came out - how is this a suprise? :\
Jack Tretton @ Nov 23rd 2009 9:31PM
Yeah, no shit. Patches for handheld games now...fan-fuckin-tastic.
It's gotten so when I pop in a new 360 or PS3 game I clench my teeth in anticipation of the inevitable "Update Found!" message to appear.
Back to cartridges!

If only 5th Cell would crawl out from under their mountain of money and patch Scribblenauts with some decent controls. I don't like developers who rely on patches, but sometimes they are direly needed all the same.
And LittleBigPlanet is a platform that lives on patches, so this is not surprising.

My only complaint is that there isnt any multiplayer =/ that was like a part of the soul of lbp ps3
Marco le Polo @ Nov 23rd 2009 6:35PM
Well I guess I can expect to see people playing this on their Go's in the Gamestop line come Black Friday.
Nobledevil @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:38PM
I've seen Gamestop's ad for Black Friday and its 99% garbage, so I'll be playing it at home while checking up occasionally on Amazon's hot-ass sales.
I like to sit while I save :)
Marco le Polo @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:40PM
I completely agree and I'm actually not going to be purchasing anything. I'm going with a friend and he's going to be purchasing the PS3 bundle w/LBP and GOW 1&2. Shall be sweet as we're having a Mario Kart and Magic tourney w/mexican hot chocolate and pan dulce!
KeenCommander @ Nov 23rd 2009 6:42PM
I'm annoyed that they allow patches - it just encourages sloppy programming and games being released too soon.
Sly @ Nov 23rd 2009 6:55PM
but it also allows messed up games to be fixed easily. i'd rather have a game come out partially unfinished and be patched later than have a game come out partially unfinished and stay that way.
Special Agent Steve @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:04PM
Agree with Sly. I hope it just doesn't turn into- "Let's just use another 1.2 gbs of the persons memory card to guarantee their product works."
brian @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:04PM
if developers waited until they were 100% sure they were absolutely no glitches, then we would be waiting a fuck long time for games, way longer than we wait now.
Sly @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:18PM
there's no way to way to make sure you don't have any glitches at all. you'll ALWAYS miss some. especially with games that have online. if they did that, then we would never get new games.
brian @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:03PM
man, i have to say, since picking my psp back up after not playing it for over a year, i can't believe i stopped playing it.
so many good games out, and it's even better that i had a launch PSP so i could get the cfw, although i did have to make a pandora battery =/.
good shit.
Jinsenken @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:20PM
You coulda just used chickHEN and cfw GEN-D2 instead of going through the trouble of making a pandora battery
brian @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:43PM
when i checked, i was told the only way to downgrade from my version was pandora battery and MMS
jeremiahwehler @ Nov 23rd 2009 11:14PM
FYI: In most cases, developers don't decide when a game is released. The executives at the publishing company do (based on where they need a game to land in their fiscal years).
I'm all for the ability to patch PSP games, as long as they're utilized.
nikescar @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:38PM
I would bet that the "patch" will break the game for all of you CFW users out there. I'd let someone else be the guinea pig if I were you.
NickAVV @ Nov 23rd 2009 7:53PM
But the real question is, when is that sweet looking water pack coming to the PS3 LBP.
nick @ Nov 23rd 2009 11:33PM
Been playing LBP PSP all week now and it's awesome, except it has crashed my PSP on me when connecting to the internet a few times. Screen goes blank and I hear a sackboy crying somewhere.
Also still trying to find a single reason a gamer would buy a PSP GO. No luck yet. All the internal memory in the world can't help you when 3 year old games are still $20 on PSN when they're in the $5 bargain bin at Best Buy.
JeezWhiz87 @ Nov 24th 2009 6:46AM
Dear developers relying on patches, and launch DLC,
Fuck you.
