With our rudimentary knowledge of the expanded Star Trek universe, we have a hard time following Cryptic Studios' series of lore briefings for Star Trek Online (the latest installment of which is posted above). Still, you don't have to have a Ph.D. in Klingon-Starfleet relations to appreciate the gargantuan space battles featured in the video. You just have to have eyes. We suppose an appreciation for lasers helps, too.
In addition to the moving pictures, Atari has released a batch of new stills, as well, which we've tossed into the gallery below. Unless you have some aversion to wrinkle-headed alien species, we think you'll like what you see.

You know, it would be cool if we got to play in the Abrams-verse, as part a possible expansion pack of this.

Could be. I doubt it, though, as they've set this so far ahead.
Though it's Star Trek. Either say 'time travel/paradox' or 'A wizard did it'.

i was more excited when i thought this game was going to be about "boldly going where no man has gone before," with my friends on board. Meeting new alien races and settling puzzling disputes and such.
Didn't realize we'd all be captains, and the universe would be at war. ehhh. I don't really want to pick a star trek race, and then kill a bunch of others. ehh.
what happened? hmmf. (seems like there's "star trek tv shows" which are about mostly about philosophy and there's "star trek movies" which are mostly about violence. this game seems to side with the movie camp? I don't know if i should look into further, or just back slowly away.)
