Just Cause 2 grapples onto March 23 release date

Oh, well. It's difficult for us to get in a huff about the game's distant launch date. See, as soon as we feel the huff approaching, we simply watch a bit of Just Cause 2's grapple-and-parachute-centric gameplay, and then we feel inexplicably soothed to our very core.

I honesty think this game might get lost in the march storm, GOW3, FFXII, GT5(i think), BF:BC2

I honestly think it would be lost whenever it was released. Just Cause wasn't a huge hit, and as much as I was clamoring for a revamped sequel, I doubt that many people have even been paying attention to it let alone know the first game existed.

It doesn't matter that the first one wasn't that big. The sequel looks fantastic!
I can think of many games that weren't that popular at all in their first version, but became more popular in their sequels.

I'd still like to hear their explanations for the infinite parachutery, but this game looks like a blast. I'm just gonna jack choppers and do freefalls for the first 10 hours or so.

With the first game they said that it's set a little bit in the future and so the technology is available, not really an explanation but that's what they said.

just cause 1 was a great game for $ 10 in the bargain bin, but i would have been a bit mad if i spent more than $ 20 on the first game...
some games are just better when played from the bargain bin IMO.
this reminds me of holiday/october 2008 game releases.. too many at 1 time. i guess nobody learns.

You won't buy it because its being released in a different month? If anything it will allow time for more hype. I don't think many people outside of the hardcore crowd have heard of this game. Hell, I barely heard of this game... and I should be made aware of all games with grappling hooks!

It's releasing in the same window as Battlefield Bad Company 2, Final Fantasy 13, Lost Planet 2, Crysis 2, The Last Guardian, God Of War 3, Bioshock 2, Dantes Inferno, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles & Gran Turismo 5. It's simply not going to be high on my priority list come FEB/MAR/APR of '10. I'm interested in the game but not more so than the other games I mentioned.

Well march is god of war 3 month, but that's it really so maybe I'll have enough money to get this too. Feels more like a gamefly type of game though.

God of War month, I like the sound of that. Looking forward to it.
GoW collection was easily the best $40 dollars I spent all year, and the God of War 3 demo to boot was icing.

That was a pretty sweet demo. I hope they sort out the hit detection and some of the samera issues before the game launches though. I was having trouble with some of those static camera angles and targeting specific enemies in a big group was tricky as well. Still, pretty amazing especially considering it was from an old build.

This is probably blasphemous for me to say being a PS3 guy and all but I'm more excited for Battlefield Bad Company 2 than I am Gof Of War 3. However, my anticipation of both compared to Just Cause 2 is infinite. Damn shame.

The God of War III demo was awesome, but I was disappointed when the native resolution was 720P running with an almost locked 30fps (noticed some hitches) instead of the much touted native 1080P and 60fps - or was it a locked 30fps? Aside from those minor disappointments, I will still buy the game when it comes out and I can't wait how Sony Santa Monica will explain why there will be no more greek gods

every video I've seen of this game has made me cringe. It looks terrible. Specifically this 'grappling' that you all seem so in awe of. The animation, physics, coding, whatever... are just off in relation to that feature. It looks stupid and has no flair. It appears you can grapple onto a vehicle, speed towards it then 'just land on it' without any finesse.. it literally looks like they thought 'lets forget about how he's gonna land on these things and just skip frames and stick him on it'.
The first game was shit, this won't be much better. I'm never wrong. I said the same about MW2 and was correct. I'm saying the same about Bioshock 2 also (and will be correct).

I'd say your 1/1 though when it comes to MW2, I also think Bioshock 2 will have no soul but I tend to think Just Cause 2 will be good in the same way that Red Faction Guerilla was good. It's not going to be GOTY but will likely be good, solid and fun.

The first one wasn't great. At this time I'll be playing GoW3 and I'll still be playing Conviction probably. Red Dead is also coming out sometime around then too and that looks way hotter than this.
