We wish it didn't have to be like this.
But it is. Gorged, bloated and possessed by the lure of
unbeatable savings, you will scratch and claw your way through masses of equally frenzied shoppers. There, in the dim light of dawn, you will forsake all that was sacred of the Thanksgiving, and
take what's yours -- for an awfully good price. So then, let us be your guide.
We've scoured the Black Friday circulars of nationwide retailers and singled out the video game deals in the guides below. Just click on a retailer to view:
Head past the break for additional tips!
JoyTips
1. Plan accordingly: Some deals are limited (Doorbusters!); others run the entire weekend or longer (while supplies last)
2. Looking for a hardware bundle? Here are our picks:
- PS3 Slim (120GB) [$299.99] (details)
- Walmart adds Infamous, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and The Dark Knight (Blu-ray movie)
- GameStop adds LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition and God of War Collection
- Best Buy adds LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
- Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle [$299.99] (details)
- Kmart adds Halo 3: ODST
- Sears adds an Xbox Live 12-month Gold Card
- Target adds a $50 gift card
- DSi Bundle (White Brain Age / Metallic Blue Mario) [$169.99] (details)
- Target adds a $20 gift card
- Toy"R"Us drops $10 off the price and adds the EVA Sleeve Kit & DSi Car Adapter
3. Best deal on Batman: Arkham Asylum? This late summer release is discounted at multiple retailers, but cheapest at
Target ($37).
4. Staying home? Many retailers are extending their deals to their online stores. And don't forget about
Amazon's game deals! Tags: amazon, best-buy, black-friday, black-friday-2009, deals, gamestop, guide, holidaze, holidaze-2009, kmart, sale, sears, target, toys-r-us, video-games, walmart

Walmart seems to be the place to go, but I would rather not be trampled, so Amazon it is.
Rhamsey @ Nov 25th 2009 3:05PM
Oh, and screw best buy for still trying to force Sonic the Hedgehog (06) on us. No one liked that game!!!
Ed @ Nov 25th 2009 3:21PM
Walmart is doing price matching, so if there is a game on sale somewhere else be sure to bring in the ad and chances are it will be there (as long as it isn't on sale there too).
pdott @ Nov 25th 2009 4:29PM

Yeah Amazon for sure. For most of these Black Friday deals the savings don't entice me enough to want to wade through a sea of people and wait in line for hours starting at 5 in the morning hehe.
Ian @ Nov 25th 2009 3:06PM
Amazon blew away everyone else last year.
Alex @ Nov 25th 2009 6:22PM
haha I'm not that sneaky I guess. It looks like GameStop and Kmart will have it on sale all weekend.
Jocaju @ Nov 25th 2009 6:48PM
I'm going to Kmart Friday to buy the PSP bundle of Assassins Creed Bloodlines with AC2 for PS3 for free. That's for sure.
Alex @ Nov 25th 2009 3:11PM
what are the chances Amazon will have a Left 4 Dead 2 special? I really don't want to deal with the hordes at Walmart or Target
kentuckyfried @ Nov 25th 2009 3:55PM

But seriously, I would check steam. They will have some good deals going in December or so. I mean c'mon, they sold TF2 for about $5 one day for 2 hours only. So like I said, check steam every now and then.
David Black @ Nov 25th 2009 5:57PM
Steam has Batman on sale for $25 today only.
DrunkMiffy @ Nov 26th 2009 1:31PM
Lmao Falcon.. great answer.
Bubbameister33 (Confused by Fanboyism) @ Nov 25th 2009 3:45PM
Anyone know where I can get a cheap Xbox? I think the old girl is about to crap out on me.
ChuckBartowski (ATDF Technical Consultant) @ Nov 25th 2009 3:51PM
Thats wierd. Are you sure that its an Xbox your talking about. Those never fail.
Bubbameister33 (Confused by Fanboyism) @ Nov 25th 2009 3:54PM
That doesn't answer my question but thanks for the reply. It froze on me twice last night when I was playing MW2 and when it was on the dash board.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 25th 2009 4:03PM
A cheap ps3 slim is a better long-term investment.
Bubbameister33 (Confused by Fanboyism) @ Nov 25th 2009 4:05PM
I have a PS3 Phat.

My question was simple but the console bashing wasn't really necessary. I understand people have had problems with their 360's but until my problems with it are as bad as theirs I will buy another one and give the other to my cousin. I don't really have a console bias, I just like playing video games in my spare time. If someone could help me with my situation I would really appreciate it.

Bubbameister33 (Confused by Fanboyism) @ Nov 25th 2009 5:48PM
Thanks eNrique, I just confirmation of the RROD and my cousin just offered me her 360 since she doesn't play it.
NintendoJunkie @ Nov 25th 2009 4:28PM
It's Bioshock PC for $5 for me. I'm considering Assasin's Creed for $5 also, but I hear mixed reviews.
PoonDaddy @ Nov 25th 2009 4:42PM
At $5... does it REALLY matter!?
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Nov 25th 2009 7:28PM
Yea what the hell man. It's even cheaper than renting it, even if you got to keep it for a year.
Also, it's totally worth it.
Complex @ Nov 25th 2009 5:30PM
Hey can someone help me out.
I'm thinking of buying a new TV and a new PS3 the best deal I have seen has been at Sonystyle PS3&46" bravia fro 999.99 should I wait to see for a better deal on cyber Monday or buy it now.
ravenfury @ Nov 25th 2009 6:02PM

Omega2k3 @ Nov 25th 2009 7:04PM
I'm fine with the posting of good deals, but this was overboard. Reported.
GameFinder @ Nov 25th 2009 7:16PM
My bad...I am new member and thought it would take me to a link that I had to confirm my email address...did not mean for it to all post. Is there a way to delete the comment?
Spartacus @ Nov 25th 2009 7:28PM
ecost has a couple good deals:
60GB Xbox 360 for $49
Wii for $89
And if you haven't gotten an HDTV yet and don't want to break the bank, they've got a Westinghouse 32" 720p LCD going for $99.
Nate @ Nov 25th 2009 11:28PM
Where u seeing those prices? I can't seem to find them.
Spartacus @ Nov 26th 2009 11:49AM
Black Friday only, 9am EST to 4pm EST. I'm on their email list, so I was alerted beforehand of the deals.
eNrique @ Nov 27th 2009 11:50AM
I didn't found it boy, can you get me the link?
Spartacus @ Nov 27th 2009 2:13PM
They claim to be updating the sales each hour. So far none of the deals I listed have posted, so I'm guessing they'll be saving the best deals for the end at 4pm EST.
I'm waiting too...
eNrique @ Nov 27th 2009 2:16PM
But;
Are you sure it's only ninety nine dollars?
Spartacus @ Nov 27th 2009 4:27PM
It would seem eCost has stooped to new lows in order to attract customers to their site. I did some digging and in order to get those deals, you have to first become a member ($40), then you get to watch a countdown in hopes of snagging the ONE SINGLE AVAILABLE item at that advertised price. So it's essentially a $40 raffle.
Freaking unbelievable. Talk about bait and switch. Here's the original link if you're interested to see just how misleading this advertising campaign was:

Hahaha, you wish.
TonyTheTiger831 @ Nov 25th 2009 7:57PM
Man all these deal that I want to get in on my I can't get there so late/early. I'm always left out of Black Friday.
FonFahbre @ Nov 25th 2009 9:00PM
Same here, whenever its Black Friday, my wallet is always dry before I can get to any deals. Some random event, work call, or problem always arises during this one week.
notricky @ Nov 25th 2009 9:44PM
I won't go so many websites for Black Friday deals any more, cos http://followsales.com has collected all those from Target, Best Buy,Target, Toy"R"U.
