The game itself looks really different. Square Enix classifies this as an action RPG, but between the combos and the grappling, this looks like an action game. We suppose it's an RPG because when you hit something, numbers come out. Lufia II (or Estpolis) is out in Japan February 25.
Lufia II remake is more action, less RPG

When I first read about this, I thought "Another remake by Square Enix?", but I gotta say this game looks really cool.

The DS BADLY needs more Action RPGs.

This doesn't look and feel like Lufia. Like, at all. Really disappointed so far..I'm very reserved about buying this now.

This looks to be exactly what is missing on the current gen of consoles. I would like this in full 1080 hd please. Also I don't want to have to use the stylus at all.... ever.

I have the same feeling about this that I had about Suikoden Tierkreis. It's looks like it has some potential, but don't bastardize a classic name if you are going to fundamentally change the concept. They must REALLY not trust people to buy a new IP.

Wait... Suikoden Tierkreis isn't the same concept as the other Suikoden games???
I've played the Suikoden series, Tierkreis didn't change the concept of the game at all other than removing some tactical things here and not trying to outdo the previous game.
...every Suikoden game after the 2nd one kept trying to make itself new and innovative by adding more and more things to the castles and tactics. Blah blah blah, 3rd was pretty good but it felt too pushed.
Tierkreis doesn't change any concept of the Suikoden games. It's still an RPG where you have multiple people fighting at once with different styles of fighting and a storyline. It still has a castle with different people with all their names slapped on a big slab.... again.
Nothing changing about it. Nothing new. It was plain, and it was okay.

Suikoden Tierkreis is considered a spin off since it's not set in the same world as any of the previous Suikoden games (not past or future), there's no rune, no returning characters like Leknaat, Viki, etc. It did not feel like a Suikoden game at all.
And then they made the voice actors speak fast so they could fit it on the cart, so stupid.
Also the 108 heroes where Stars of Destiny in this game, they just put that in to say "LOOK! IT STILL HAS 108 COLLECTABLE HEROES!" when it was nothing like the other games.
So no, Tierkreis isn't the same concept at all. If it wasn't for having 108 heroes they could have given it an entirely new name and no one would have said anything.

Well, there's that...
I honestly had no idea all the other Suikoden games were in the same world, actually.

If not for the names in the trailer, it'd be unrecognizable as a remake.
I assume the guy in yellow was Guy.
I'm interested to see the redesigns for Dekar and Artea.

Holy shit it's Guy!!!
He looks so awesome!!
I have no problem with action rpgs, I like them more than turn based ones (not that I would have a problem with a turn based one, I love them too).
Can't wait for this game, I hope I'll be able to play it on a ds XL, Lufia are some of my favourites games ever (except for 4, if 4 didn't exist I could be able to say that the series is perfect).
