Oh, my car! Capcom porting Final Fight and Magic Sword to XBLA and PSN

Final Fight Double Impact, as the collection is titled, will feature optional graphical filters and a visual mode that makes the games appear as if they're being played on an arcade machine. Most importantly, both games will have drop-in online co-op. Capcom hasn't priced the collection yet, but there's no way the company will charge more than we've already put into Magic Sword machines over the years.

Final Fight was one of my favs on the SNES. Might just have to pick this up. The only other side-scrolling fighter I'd have to instant-purchase would be Super Double Dragon.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 25th 2009 10:11PM
I haven't seen any indication of a port, and the original was delisted from XBLA this year.
MystileArmor @ Nov 25th 2009 10:17PM
Yeah I didn't care too much for the original, I mean, it's good, don't get me wrong, but the amount of time invested in the SNES version was insane. And all the characters seemed to look like someone famous. You had a guy that looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee and I forgot some of the other ones, but that whole game was just so much fun to play....
Sigh oh lovely nostalgia, such a love/hate relationship.
Kenoji (aka Neo Asuma) @ Nov 25th 2009 10:30PM
My favorite Final Fight was Final Fight CD. I swear, it was pretty intense and it had the best soundtrack ever. Too bad it will never see the light of day again...
I loved the other Final Fight games for SNES as well.
yyr @ Nov 25th 2009 10:55PM
Final Fight CD was just the most accurate port of the arcade version available at the time. So this should feel very similar to you.
Monica Dickey @ Nov 26th 2009 4:24PM
This is definitely a must buy for me. Looks like it's an arcade port so I can finally play as Guy and have some two player action!
Also I still remember the tunes from level 1 and the subway... Classic beat em up action right there hehe.
I hope there's a way to play as Poison or Andore!
coffee_elf @ Nov 25th 2009 10:14PM
I'd kill for a port of Dungeons and Dragons or Alien vs Predator.
Red Earth would be cool too.

Whats his Internet Provider, NetBelowZero?
Platy @ Nov 25th 2009 10:42PM
Magic Sword instead of D&D makes me think that tower of druaga has exactly the same problems as Mavrel vs Capcom 2 had ...
Platy @ Nov 25th 2009 10:45PM
*tower of doom (the D&d game =P) .... damn those tower games =P
Jocaju @ Nov 26th 2009 5:29AM
Not to mention Punisher and Cadillac & Dinosaurs. Please Capcom, make that happens.
nikescar @ Nov 26th 2009 1:09PM
Just thought you guys should know that there's an amazing good CPS1 & CPS2 emulator for PSP. It can play all these games perfectly.
Stevetrop @ Nov 25th 2009 10:16PM
Thumbs up in my book. How ever I know it is probably unlikely I'd love to have Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara be released. Magic Sword is pretty fun I had some great times with it but man capcom hasn't unleashed the bad ass games that once dominated the arcades.
I can always wish though
Apache15 @ Nov 25th 2009 10:27PM
Final Fight was easily one of the best side-scrollers I've ever played. A true classic. Haggar was a complete tank, he didn't fuck around.
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 25th 2009 10:29PM
Online co-op = day 1 purchase for me. Love brawlers and Final Fight is one of the best ever.
J_Man757 @ Nov 25th 2009 10:30PM
I am just happy its the arcade port cause guy and cody are together, and its co-op and not the SNES port or Final Fight "Guy".
Stoked!
lol now give me an arcade port of The Simpsons,X-Men, and Avengers and I would be in NERD Nirvana.
Sandmonkey @ Nov 25th 2009 10:38PM
I doubt Simpsons, since that was never ported to ANY console, though that would be cool, ah, the bowling alley. Instead of bowling for a field trip, I pumped my lunch money into the machine playing with my two friends and some jerk, ah............. memories.
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 26th 2009 4:20PM
Seriously, X-Men with online co-op would basically be the best thing ever.
Mr.Realistic @ Nov 25th 2009 10:37PM
MAGIC SWORD!?! FUCK YEAH!
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Nov 25th 2009 10:38PM
thats what happens when you go with GEICO
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 25th 2009 10:53PM
Anyone remember the name of that old Nintendo game that had you shoot the little cut out of criminals ... there would be civillians you couldn't shoot and there was a little virtual gun range I think as well.
yyr @ Nov 25th 2009 10:57PM
Could that be Hogan's Alley you're referring to?
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 25th 2009 11:30PM
Ah ha! Thats it indeed ... For some reason I was reminded of that game when thinking about Final Fight.
BPMOmega [XBL, PSN, Steam] @ Nov 25th 2009 11:40PM
Yup, that's definitely Hogan's Alley.
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 26th 2009 4:07AM
They get around to releasing that on the virtual console? I'd like to pick that one up if they did ...
Vexorg @ Nov 25th 2009 10:55PM
Final Fight I could take or leave, but Magic Sword is probably my favorite of the CPS1 games, so I'd have to pick this up for that one.
Alton Brown (Now With Mystic Eyes of Death Perception!) @ Nov 25th 2009 11:02PM
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, please (yes, it's real).
kentuckyfried @ Nov 25th 2009 11:44PM
Never had the chance to play that one.
Capcom could make a killing releasing alot of their niche titles. they're all worthy of purchase alone based upon the classic art style used in the titles, even if some of them were terrible (Punisher, Aliens vs. Predator, etc)
Alton Brown (Now With Mystic Eyes of Death Perception!) @ Nov 26th 2009 12:27AM
AVP was fun. The thing that got me about Punisher was that he looked like Marco from Metal Slug with black hair.
Silent Protagonist @ Nov 25th 2009 11:40PM
I would love to see a rerelease of Spiderman: Maximum Carnage. I loved that game sooooo much. I used to own and play the crap out of it. I remember that Doom-red cartridge and the soundtrack done by the ever-so-awesome-and-now-no-longer-around-I-think Green Jelly. There are so many games on the SNES that I would love to have redone. Axelay, an HD Super Castlevania 4, Super R-Type, Axelay, and Axelay. Did I mention Axelay? That was THE BEST shmup, EVAR. E-V-A-R!!!!! There also needs to be a port/revamp of U.N. Squadron. That was one of the best looking games to grace the SNES. Enough! I'm ranting. Ranting about AXELAY and BACON!! I really want some BACON. BUT ONLY IN CAPLOCKS!!! EXCELSIOR!!!!!!!!!! TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!! STELLLLLAAAAAA!!!!!!! MY GOD! IT'S FULL OF STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111!!!111
taurus82 (Point & Click-Graphic Adventures on PlayStation 3 Please) @ Nov 26th 2009 5:39AM
Didn't the SNES also have a rather nice Spawn game?
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 26th 2009 5:40AM
I hate you. So much.
Bluebreaker @ Nov 25th 2009 11:40PM
Final Fight is always good, but man I played the SNES port of Magic Sword so much I swear the cart could have worn out.
It was like Conan the Barbarian (and friends) for SNES and to this day I still remember most of the music.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 25th 2009 11:43PM
lol
Man, I just picked up the capcom collection just for final fight alone a few months ago.
It's good, but it can be so cheap sometimes. Or maybe I'm just still bad at the game.
I'll pick it up for the online co-op though, that should be fun.
It always used to make me crack up when I'd get Haggar to pick one of the bad guys up to do that inverted suplex move on them, only to fail terribly and jump up into the air with them, like we were dancing or something.
BruniBrun @ Nov 26th 2009 12:02AM
Shame they didn't do a Final Fight 1, 2, 3 set instead.
3 had an awesome Alpha-esque Guy.
Maxx the Slash @ Nov 26th 2009 1:51AM
About ****ing time with the Final Fight, Capcom.
Granger @ Nov 26th 2009 2:06AM
Hell yes to Magic Sword, hope we get King of Dragons next. Sunk so many hours into the SNES version of both games.
ozgur.kazancci @ Nov 26th 2009 2:13AM
guess what.. ..not for European SCEE PSN users. as usual.. SCEE PSN is totally a joke!
You got just a few games on SCEE PSN. And they're useless worst games with highest prices. Such an amazing combination.
Ucial @ Nov 26th 2009 5:34AM
oh, my ca.....
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 26th 2009 5:38AM
Yessssss. It's about time.
XDragon @ Nov 26th 2009 7:10AM
Capcom is one of the few companies that gets what their fans want; good job; I hope others are paying attention!
TrendGiveAfuck @ Nov 26th 2009 8:08AM
Will it have OFFLINE co-op as well?
DarthDavid @ Nov 26th 2009 11:10AM
For the longest time, (since 93 to be exact) I always thought Final Fight CD was the best home version. It had all three characters, all the stages, all the bonus rounds, remixed soundtrack, CO-OP and a extra endless mode on top of a bridge. Then came Final Fight One for the GBA which is the best portable version (alpha characters), I don't count the Capcom Classics Collection version because they're just a bare bones port of the arcade ROM.........After all this time I think we're are finally getting the definitive version of Final Fight, please Capcom include the remixed Sega CD soundtrack and this old gamer can die peacefully.
funkyellowmonkey(ps3 id) @ Nov 27th 2009 2:25PM
Ditto that! :)
Fernando @ Nov 26th 2009 11:30AM
The best thing about the Coin-Op versus the consoles was the amount of characters on screen. Sometimes it has 10 enemies vs 3 enemies on Snes and 5 on Sega CD.
eilegz @ Nov 26th 2009 1:19PM
i prefer a sequel what about final fight 4 2D for DS with nintendo wifi.
Final Fight 3 its still one of the best beat em up...
Phreak @ Nov 26th 2009 5:12PM
The SNES version was censored from memory. It didn't allow you to beat up the chicks in the pink shorts so changed them to guys I think.
And remember the main characters weren't the only one's that got ported into Street Fighter... the boss with the swords in the ring, Sodom did as well!
SlyBeast @ Nov 26th 2009 10:31PM
Hell yeah!
Euan @ Nov 29th 2009 2:20AM
Finally...
