PS3 owners will want to stay home on Black Friday. Why? Naughty Dog is releasing the first downloadable content for Uncharted 2's multiplayer mode this Friday, November 27. A title update will add "The Fort," a brand new multiplayer map supposedly based on the "Fortress" chapter of Drake's Fortune. According to the press release, "The Fort is a long rectangular map with wide open spaces and excellent flank routes." There's a shotgun in the center of the map and an RPG in the crypt (the inevitable resting place of people on the wrong end of that weapon). Best of all, this update will be free.
Once the patch goes live at 1PM ET, Naughty Dog will also initiate a Double Cash weekend. Teams will have special skins in competitive matches: Doughnut Drake for the Heroes (pictured above), and Doughnut Lazarevic for the Villains.
On the one hand, I'm reassured by the people voting for logic. On the other hand, I'm disappointed by the people who voted after having failed to spot the sarcasm.
I haven't played Uncharted 2 multiplayer for a few weeks now, can somebody tell me if there is still cash penalty for quitting a game, even if it wasn't your fault? (Internet stops, PSN disconnects, etc.) Thanks.
Yes and its why i traded my copy in. Ive already done everything i can do in the single player, gotten Platinum and so on. That fucked up online gave me no reason to keep it.
Because of the area i live in i cant get a great connection. On top of that i have 4 PCs using my internet for Work. I barely ever disconnect, but if i do i dont want to lose a level and 260 kills
no prob with the online...its very fun. Between Modern Warfare 2's MP, Battlefield BC2 beta, and this. I've been spending all of my time with Uncharted 2's MP. It's fun, similar to Gears of War 2 MP but has it's own nice touches like the platforming. Nothing beats it!
The penalty for quitting I'm sure is directly related to people complaining in the beta about quitters. If one team starts losing, everyone on the other team immediately quits out. I'm glad that you idiots are penalized. I'm also glad you traded in your game and miss out on the DLC for being a rage quitter, a whiner, and someone that can't appreciate a good game. Good bye.
some of you guys are Pricks. wireless internet just came to my area and I'm paying 80 bucks a month for 1.2Mb/s(its supposed to be 3Mb/s but I never get it) it because its the best available in my area and I got High speed entirely so online games would be playable. As much as I like U2 I can never make any progress in it because of its ridiculous penalty's for dropping out and its not even my fault(not to mention it's the only game that drops on me probably because ts P2P). I've also had match's in co-op where the next wave refuses to spawn and everyone can still talk to each other and move around but no one wants to be the first to quit because they don't want to be penalized so we just end up sitting there for a f**king hour waiting each other out until some one quits.
There is still a penalty for quitting, however, if you quit out then play through at least one more game before quitting out of the game entirely, you dont get penalised. For some reason the servers only catch it if you quit out of the very last game you played, shut it down, then go back into the game, then you'll get the "we noticed you didnt finish your last game" message and get 40000 taken. You do not lose a level though, unless the 40000 drops you down in cash under the level range you were currently in. For example say you have 1,000,000 and you're level 30 and level 30 starts at 990,000, you lose 40,000 drop to 960,000 you are now under the starting point for level 30 so you drop to 29. I'm level 50 and it takes 1,000,000 to get from level 50 to 51. I'm about 750,000 into it so when I lose 40,000 I dont drop a level. And yes I know for a fact the penalty is still there despite what the other guy said, because I just had it happen yesterday. Also to one of the above posters, not everyone that quits is a rage quitter, some people actually have lives outside of gaming and things may come up that makes them have to leave like taking care of the needs of a child for example. Don't generalize everyone like that.
@kentuckyfried I never quit out of a game based on my performance. I've had many games where I cudn't seem to get in a groove and didn't do well, and still kept playing. The only reason I ever quit is if one of my friends comes on and invites me, or if I'm trying to get in one last round before work, and end up not having quite enough time to finish that round. So for one of those instances I keep playing, for the other, I don't. That's how I figured out that the penalty works that way. I hate when people quit because the game isn't going their way as much as anybody, you just can't always assume that's the reason. I actually enjoy those games where I get my ass handed to me because I learn from it. If you never accept a true challenge you'll never get better.
...but there's also a double XP weekend for Killzone 2. Way to force me to divide my attention, guys. This couldn't wait until next weekend? It is Killzone's birthday after all. :)
