Battlefield: Bad Company 2's associate producer and dedicated server of official blog updates, Gordon Van Dyke, has assured fans that the PC beta will still happen -- though later than expected. "With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate," Van Dyke wrote. "Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations."
The PC version of DICE's first-person, military-person shooter will boast full support for DirectX 11, a maximum of 32 active players (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions go up to 24), clans, friend lists and dedicated servers, which is that controversial thing we referenced in the previous paragraph.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will arrive on store shelves in March 2, 2010. It's the one that ups the lone-soldier-walking-towards-you ante with some helicopters, a tank and another soldier that is slightly farther away.

If anybody from DICE reads that, they'll make sure you never play another Battlefield game again, or worse.
No, really. The name is DICE, all capitals. They don't like when people say dice or Dice... TRUST ME. They've... done things.... HORRIBLE things...

Yea, why do they limit the amount of players? Surely the limitation should solely lie on the hardware and internet connection of the server? Tons of people in a server is lots of fun.

I've played about half an hour of the beta so far since I only got it a few days ago I haven't gotten around to really playing it. I think the best thing so far is that you can put people down with about 4 or 5 well placed shots now. The graphics are great but the lack of AA is a bit of an eyesore. But the main thing that has me annoyed is the lack of going prone!
I know the first bad company didn't have it but I heard rumors that BC2 would and recently just that the PC version would have it. For me its pretty important because if I'm crouching behind a wall thats a little too small then my head is still exposed meaning a stealthy approach is out and I'm an easier target.
Can anyone confirm prone for the PC version then?

DICE said there will be no prone at all. They said they've implemented it but when they tested it, it didn't work out.
IMO, it's not necessary. The game is much more fast paced than BC1, and cover doesn't do much anyways, since it can blown away most of the time. But that's just me.

Thanks for the reply. I just find it weird because in Battlefield 2 I found the easiest thing to do when facing an enemy was go prone then take him out with a nice headshot. I know Bad company plays pretty differently from traditional Battlefield games and this one seems to be very fast paced and action packed. I'll learn to adapt !

There is prone in the PC version!
They excluded for the consoles because during testing they found that players were too difficult to see because of the low resolution (1280x720) on consoles.
But they have confirmed the PC version gets prone. This game is PC must, the console versions are seriously nerfed in comparison.

To me, the beta is boring and repetitive. Maybe more maps will change that...

Same here. I think what also throws me off is the character animations. I don't know why but the characters move too much like in 1943.
I wish they were a little more human, but I guess with such a big map, some things have to be restricted.

I'm in the PS3 beta. It's alright, but I haven't been able to get into it. I'm just aweful at it. Every time I spawn I die before I even see who's shooting at me. The few kills I did get in were pretty satisfying though. I'll give it another chance when the PC beta starts, I'm more at home with a mouse and keyboard.

No jets for half the wankers on your team to camp while teamkilling each other. No commander spamming commands. No prone... so no more dolphin tards.
I'm really looking forward to this.

They can get rid of dolphin tarding without removing prone altogether.

Yeah, I hear you on that. I would be pretty bummed if they took it out of the inevitable BF3 (as well as commanders, since those two are pretty important tactically speaking), but since BFBC2 is a bit more casual taking it out seems like it has enough benefits to justify it.

Still 3.5 times as many as MW2, although personally I prefer smaller numbers.

3.5 times as many? So MW2 allows 9.14 players?

One thing for sure, it won't take a hacker to expose extra modes they wanted you to pay for, I'm sure. They'll be available from day one, and provided at no extra cost.

I think they should get BF 1943 for PC finished before they even start thinking about a Beta for another game. Duh.
