Puzzle Quest sequel revealed
It appears that GamePro will reveal the first details of Puzzle Quest 2 in its next issue. Beyond a single image, the mag doesn't drop any details on its website. After Infinite Interactive went a tad off course with Galactrix -- meanwhile, developing Puzzle Kingdoms, Puzzle Chronicles and Neopets Puzzle Adventure -- it's good to see the team going back to its roots.
From the image, it seems that Puzzle Quest 2 is being developed for Xbox 360, but if it's anything like its predecessor, the game will eventually release on every console, handheld and electronic device known to man. One can also deduce that purple is now a rune for spells instead of XP. But what purpose do the gloves serve? We're sure to learn more very soon.

Woot?

360? I just can't imagine playing Puzzle Quest on something other than a touchscreen (laptop/DS)
Courtney @ Nov 26th 2009 2:43PM
It works really well on the 360, that's how I've played it and Galactrix.
Granger @ Nov 26th 2009 2:46PM
I played it on 360 and eventually PS3 exclusively (iPhone version is ass, and that has touch screen controls). It's not like you are constrained by time like you are in bejewled or meteos to the point where console controls would be a problem. Plus you can get Revenge of the Plague Lord on XBLA and PSN, which you can't on the handheld versions.

Totally SCHWEET. Suprised they waited this long on a sequel given the success of the first. Too busy with Galactrix I suppose, which I never even tried. I played the absolute hell out of PQ and got a few others hooked as well.
LOOOOOORD BAAAAANE
Jerk Face @ Nov 26th 2009 2:15PM
I never really got into Puzzle Quest, personally. I just thought the presentation was kind of ugly. Not that the gameplay was anything but exquisite.
I think that's why I dig Gyromancer so much. A similar type of game (not the puzzle itself, I know, but a puzzler RPG nonetheless) that also isn't ugly to look at.
Uncontrol @ Nov 26th 2009 2:21PM
OMG YESSSSSSS
BTW, Galactrix wasn't a "tad off course", it was all but unplayable. However, I wonder how this will compare to Gyromancer ...
Monica Dickey @ Nov 26th 2009 4:11PM
I didn't think Galactrix wasn't all that bad, but I'm glad they're going back to Puzzle Quest

The iron fists give you +1 to your Communist skill.

Heyooo.

No, it adds to your Black Panther faction bonus.
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 26th 2009 5:51PM
The Iron Fists are only acquired after you've defeated the dragon.
Russ W. @ Nov 27th 2009 9:16PM
The dragon of corporate control!
Crusty Magic @ Nov 26th 2009 2:24PM
Sweet game.
Rhamsey @ Nov 26th 2009 2:42PM
Awesome news.
a drunk amputee @ Nov 26th 2009 2:43PM
Exactly right. And if you match 5 in a row, the Lord of Plague appears and shouts, "I've been fisted!"
LegendaryRedass @ Nov 26th 2009 2:43PM
You guys should take the day off and enjoy the holiday. You deserve it.
Mike G. @ Nov 26th 2009 2:46PM
Yeah seriously. Hey Chris Grant, let these poor kids take a day off.
Courtney @ Nov 26th 2009 2:46PM
Good to hear. I didn't hate Galactrix, but it certainly didn't capture my attention like the first PQ. Everything from gameplay, to characters, to plot, to side minigames just weren't as good.
HighFiveJesus @ Nov 26th 2009 2:52PM
Yes!
Darkwun @ Nov 26th 2009 4:52PM
lookin forward to this seeing as i've clocked it with all 8 possible types and was looking for a fix other than galactrix
mietha CAG @ Nov 26th 2009 7:26PM
Thank god. Puzzle Quest is still probably one of the 20-25 best games on the 360, and certainly the best XBLA game. Galactrix, however, sucked hard. Not to mention that I bought the PC version which won't run for 20 minutes without crashing...
bombos @ Nov 26th 2009 8:44PM
I have a level 50 character with every class in Puzzle Quest, with every town sieged, rune found, and every side quest completed. And still I play PQ on my PSP on the go, and play PQ on my PC at work, because the gameplay is so addictive. One of the best puzzle games ever IMHO. Really happy to hear they are working on a sequel!!
krash411 @ Nov 26th 2009 8:46PM
That was a heroic effort !
The_Lam @ Nov 27th 2009 12:03AM
I loved Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords, but was turned off by Galactrix. I'm glad they're making a more direct sequel!
Ugkul @ Nov 27th 2009 10:23AM
Still waiting for part 3 of Puzzle Quest on the iPhone. C'mon GamePro!
deepti @ Nov 27th 2009 11:36AM
I think games like Puzzle quest make kids more challenging
Freezer @ Nov 27th 2009 5:48PM
I'm still waiting for the Revenge Of THe Plague Lord expansion (Dammit, Infinite! PC, Wii, PS3, DS even! WE WAITED FOR YOU!)
Galatrix was a noble failure (Far too easy with the right skills and practically no replay value). Puzzle Kingdoms was decent, but it didn't pack the addictive punch of PQ. I await this with baited breath.
