It appears that GamePro will reveal the first details of Puzzle Quest 2 in its next issue. Beyond a single image, the mag doesn't drop any details on its website. After Infinite Interactive went a tad off course with Galactrix -- meanwhile, developing Puzzle Kingdoms, Puzzle Chronicles and Neopets Puzzle Adventure -- it's good to see the team going back to its roots.
From the image, it seems that Puzzle Quest 2 is being developed for Xbox 360, but if it's anything like its predecessor, the game will eventually release on every console, handheld and electronic device known to man. One can also deduce that purple is now a rune for spells instead of XP. But what purpose do the gloves serve? We're sure to learn more very soon.

I played it on 360 and eventually PS3 exclusively (iPhone version is ass, and that has touch screen controls). It's not like you are constrained by time like you are in bejewled or meteos to the point where console controls would be a problem. Plus you can get Revenge of the Plague Lord on XBLA and PSN, which you can't on the handheld versions.

I never really got into Puzzle Quest, personally. I just thought the presentation was kind of ugly. Not that the gameplay was anything but exquisite.
I think that's why I dig Gyromancer so much. A similar type of game (not the puzzle itself, I know, but a puzzler RPG nonetheless) that also isn't ugly to look at.

I didn't think Galactrix wasn't all that bad, but I'm glad they're going back to Puzzle Quest

The Iron Fists are only acquired after you've defeated the dragon.

Exactly right. And if you match 5 in a row, the Lord of Plague appears and shouts, "I've been fisted!"

I have a level 50 character with every class in Puzzle Quest, with every town sieged, rune found, and every side quest completed. And still I play PQ on my PSP on the go, and play PQ on my PC at work, because the gameplay is so addictive. One of the best puzzle games ever IMHO. Really happy to hear they are working on a sequel!!

I'm still waiting for the Revenge Of THe Plague Lord expansion (Dammit, Infinite! PC, Wii, PS3, DS even! WE WAITED FOR YOU!)
Galatrix was a noble failure (Far too easy with the right skills and practically no replay value). Puzzle Kingdoms was decent, but it didn't pack the addictive punch of PQ. I await this with baited breath.
