LittleBigPlanet getting online create mode on Nov. 30
In addition to the online Create mode, "Leerdammer" also rewrites LBP''s network code for improved performance and smarter matchmaking. The LBP save system has also been revamped, allowing players to store more community items than ever before. Finally, a slew of minor tweaks are also included in the patch, which you can read about after the break.

Other enhancements, according to Media Molecule:
- If you play a level but do not complete it, a silver Sackboy medal will be displayed on the badge, to get a gold medal you must complete the level.
- The LittleBigStore a bit easier to navigate and also to download things after purchase.
- There is now an option to 'Auto-Reject' invitations from other players. The option is in 'Profile Settings'. If you have this set to 'On, no one will be able to join you unless you choose to 'Play Online'. This setting is not saved to your profile and needs to be set every time you play.
- Sticker switches have been made more noticeable and give better feedback to the player when attempting to place stickers on them.
- Checkpoints can now be activated using switches.
- Race Gates can be made thin again!
- You can now use the Sticker and Decoration tool and turn Sackboy around while in Customisation mode.
- Added the QWERTY keyboard layout to the text chat menu.
- Play, Create, Share scores have been removed – we thought these scores were a good idea but they never worked in the way we wanted them to. They may return one day. Maybe.
- If you collect a key whilst playing a community level, you will now see the level unlocking for you once the level you are playing has been completed. You can also search for linked levels in the search menu.

The reason some people want 1080i support in games is because (although quite rare), there are TVs that have 1080i, but not 720p, so these people are forced to play games that only support 720p in SD, which sucks..

That's a common misconception. The number (720 or 1080), is how many vertical rows of pixels the television has. Therefore, televisions that are capable of 1080i should be capable of 1080p. In this case, televisions that say they are 1080i are actually just televisions that can accept 1080i signal and downscale it to 720p, versus just rejecting the signal all together. Downscaling 1080i to 720p still brings in the interlacing issues with panning though, so you're basically left with a 720i signal. 1080i televisions are basically just marketing terms. A television either has 720 rows of pixels, or 1080.

Incorrect. Early HDTVs (CRT and CRT rear projection) were in fact 1080i only and DISPLAYED in 1080i as well.

Phoenix and Joe are dead on - there are people I have known that had 480p/1080i TVs. Admittedly, though, I thought the PS3 was able to play any resolution on any other setting seeing as how I occasionally make the mistake of leaving my system on an improper setting (I switch for optimal settings from projector to monitor and for different games/movies) and the content plays just fine, if sometimes jaggy as sin.

I can attest to Phoenix2088's comment because I owned a rear projection [HD]TV that didn't have an HDMI port but could only accept an HD signal of 1080i through its DVI port. It's good I switched to an LCD HDTV when the PS3 started gaining momentum :)

Argh! Why can't I have a PS3, I think I might sell my 360. I've never played this game, but I've been tracking it and it looks soooo fun! I love user created content and games, especially level creators, I think I will get a PS3, maybe sell my 360.

Yeah, two of my levels are unfinished just for that reason. I have to find crazy ways to destroy checkpoints just to be able to get sackboy to respawn there.

Dude, the lag isn't from the game but you. Go to your router settings, take off your firewall (You do have an anti-virus program on your PC?) and enable UPNP, then network test on PS3 and you should have Nat type 2.

I just picked LBP back up and was smiling shortly thereafter. I'll be eagerly waiting what the community comes up soon after this update.
I still wish the jump wasn't so floaty or that they had a gravity tool in the creation mode, but those are nitpicks in an otherwise awesome bucket of... well, awesome.

1080p is better than 720p. The big diference is whether you see the "p" or the"i" after the number. The "p" means that the image is "progressive scan" while the "i" means "interlaced".
Progressive scan is how computer monitors work: you are shown a full image, from the first pixel of every horizontal line on the left to the last pixel on the right, all at once just as if you were looking at a picture in your hand. This takes more processing than an interlaced image but produces better quality. The number (720 or 1080) indicates the number of horizontal lines present on that TV. The more lines you have the better resolution (and thus quality) you get as long as the source was recorded (or is processed) at the same resolution.
An interlaced TV, on the other hand, is based on the original technology used to display images on a cathode ray tube TV (CRT). Back in the dawn of TV, due to technical limitations, the creation of the image was split into two fields. That is, in a CRT monitor what looks like a complete image is actually created in two passes of "interlaced" fields. The cathode ray cannon first scans the first row of pixels starting with row 1 at the top left corner and moving all the way to the right. Once that line is activated it skips row 2 and jumps straight to row 3. It keeps doing this until all odd fields are activated (ending at field 719 on a 720i monitor). Once all odd fields are active it goes back to the top and starts scanning all the even fields starting with line 2 at the upper left corner.
Now, by the time the even fields have been activated the odd ones have turned off. The reason we don't see a gap is due to a property on our eyes known as Persistence of Vision. Bright images remain imprinted in our eyes for a bit longer after we stop looking at them as the chemical properties of the eyes go back to normal. Have you ever looked for several minutes at the drawing of a white ghost over a black paper only to turn your head to a wall and seeing the ghost floating there? That's persistence of vision working. On TV's because the scanning of the 2 fields are happening at milliseconds the image is completed in our eyes before we have the chance to see the gap. This is also used in film projections but for different reasons.
In regards to the quality between a 1080i and 1080p the difference is that because the interlaced image is made up of two halves of an image you are truly only getting half the resolution each time (half the lines for the odd fields and half for the even ones). Even if the TV has an upscaler to 1080p the only thing that is doing is taking the lines in one field and just repeating them on the other ones to fill the gap and show a progressive scan image. However since this was done by taking half the resolution of the image and duplicating it the final result is one half the resolution. If we were to put the output of a 1080i image into a progressive scan image we would get 540p. A 1080p is fully 1080p.

I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to turn this into a 720p vs 1080i discussion. I am one of those broke asses that has has a 1080i only, CRT HDTV.
I do think this is a really cool update. I was just whining this morning because it seems like every other piece of minutia is updated nowadays, except this issue the PS3 has with up-converting PS3 games. Other than that I'm a happy person. Just not a wise purchaser.

It's just a shame this took so long to come out. If it had been around since the beginning, when it should have been, I would still be playing this game.
But since I've been looking forward to it so eagerly since so early on, I've completely lost interest in LBP. And as a result, I'm afraid to say, I doubt this patch will really renew my positive spirits about it.
Lesson to learn: Don't pretend you'll be able to create games online with your friends a year before you'll actually be able to do it. Surprise people with free content and they'll be happy. Include a feature in your game's list that doesn't work, and people will be unhappy for a long time. (Play,Create,Share levels shouldn't even be on the screen if they don't work, and Online Create is a really important feature to me)
I hope everyone does enjoy it though. I'll try to pick it back up because the game could have been a lot of fun...I'm just really disappointed about it, in general, and I'm afraid that might not fade so easily...
