Is it a good idea to pinch the cheeks of a rabid, killer God-wolf? Most definitely not -- however, after watching the latest trailer for Chibiterasu's handheld babysitting adventure, Okamiden, we don't think we'd be able to help ourselves if ever placed in the lupine protagonist's presence. Forget that. We'd cheek-pinch every single thing in this adorable video: the little kid who accompanies Chibi, the enemies the duo swiftly cut in half, even the barren trees they magically bring back to life.
And trees don't even have cheeks. How crazy is that?

Graphically this just looks amazing for a DS game. I'm still not completely sold on the game since Okami is one of my favorite games of all time, but it's certainly shaping up to be very promising so far, so long as Reset makes it into the soundtrack.

I'm actually calling this as an early April Fool's joke. No way is that in-game footage. No flipping way! That is beautiful. Okami was ecstacy for the optic nerve, but this is just too good for the DS. Seriously excited for this game now. I feel ashamed to say more excited than I am for Zelda.
I really do think Okami is taking over from Zelda as my favourite adventure series. Okami was better than Twilight Princess, and as good as Wind Waker if not better. If Okamiden is better than Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks, then I'm moving allegiance across (though I'll still get Zelda - still would be too amazing to avoid).

I still maintain my love for Twilight Princess. Okami is on equal standing with me.

That would make this a very different game, wouldn't it?
And it would suck.

The original for the ps2 seemed like it would have benefited from some enhanced interface like the DS touchscreen or the Wii motion controller, To be honest I still haven't gotten around to playing any of the games myself. Mainly because I'm teetering at the moment over getting a Wii in which case I'll prolly get it for the Wii if not then I'll just breaking down and getting it for the ps2.
Does sound like Zelda has some serious competition and with the touch interface on the DS it would be hard for them to go wrong, plus the graphics do look awesome but its about that time in the DS life cycle that the developers have a solid grasp of what works what doesn't where they can push things and where they need to hold back a little.
I'm going to be looking forward to this game with some high expectations and even higher anticipation and from everything I have heard from reviews and people who have played the game it deserves both and then some.

Okami for the Wii is pretty good, although it could definitely use Motion+. The hardest thing I found to do was drawing a straight line, which actually got aggravating at times.

This is nice and all, but I'd still like a full blown console sequel...

Ugh, it has the same crappy battle system? Oh well. I guess I can bear with it. Looks good! And the mechanic should work much better than on Wii (at least if they've improved the algorithm so it can reliably recognise the shapes this time).
This sounds kind of negative, but Okami was a really good game despite those flaws, so I'm looking forward to this.

I think the issues with the Wii version, tho speculating here since I have never played it, were due to the Wii itself "getting the job done" per say as far as motion controls but not having finesse. Which I suspect is why the Wii motion+ has hit the scene adding additional acceleromiter(s?) and code to the mix to get more accurate translation as to what motion the controller is actually making.
Haven't really had any issues with the DS not recognizing shapes you draw on it save the rare rare rare instance with say phantom hourglass where my slate refuses to transport me, toss a few more rares in there I think its happened like three to five times since I got the game when it came out.
