A new iPhone application entering the crowded marketplace allows all Xbox Live addicts the ability to connect to their account and do pretty much everything you can think of. Bad news: it isn't free. The $1.99 app, called 360 Live, lets you sign into your account, browse and respond to friend requests, check messages and even creep your friend's Gamercard on the go.
But, before you slap your $2 on the table, we'd recommend you wait for Microsoft to respond to the app's list price. In August 2008, Microsoft mandated that all Xbox Live-related applications be free. So, it may just be a matter of time before the 360 Live app drops to the easy-to-swallow price of free.

It's not an official app by any means. Not sure how Microsoft is going to react, especially as it's charging money, but it's likely that this won't stay up.

Does anyone get the irony?
Microsoft, the primary OS maker of PC computers has an official app on an Apple product.
However on the Windows Mobile operating system, which happens to be supplied by Microsoft, there's no such application.
You know, as much as I hate on Apple, shit gets done and they get to really enjoy their phone.
I know I would like certain business-like integration into my phone, but hell... Screw it, next phone is going to be an iPhone.
Windows Mobile phones almost always have poor hardware construction (HTC, makers of my last 2 phones, I'm looking at you).
The OS is limited and simply not FUN.
I'll still stick with Microsoft for my OS, but jesus MS, I give up on making a phone I enjoy using.
The thought of an iPhone with a keyboard so makes me happy.
Imma stop now...

It is against Microsoft policy to ask users to provide their XBOX Live login. This application scrapes the Microsoft web site which is expressly forbidden. The fact that this developer is charging for the application is also in violation of those terms.
The 1337pwn.com applications for iPhone and Android are the product of an Official XBOX Community Developer Program member. And, as such, honor your privacy and security. Best of all, they are FREE and used to check on millions of gamers every day.

I suppose the one question I really want answered is, can I expect my account to stay safe, by using this application? Or will the developer somehow get hold of my password and username and splurge on MS points using the card that is attached to my account?

Actually more scary is the fact that apple and MS are working together to bring Silverlight Player to iPhones. I mean thats shows hatred of Adobe if I've ever seen it.

This app possibly requires your login and password, which is a big faux-pass.

It does which is why it violates microsofts terms of use.

yeah i have the 1337pwns.com app on my G1 and i asked them about adding the feature to their app to login and stuff since this app was allowed to do it so i thought Microsoft changed their policy or something but the makers of 1337pwns.com app said that this is not true and that it will be taken down, and i'm sure they'd know.

I have downloaded the freebies and they are ok. I just bought this one and it seems good, much faster to update than the 1337pwns, and the messaging seems to work well. It was only a toonie, I waste more money at Tim Horton's for breakfast. Should I be worried about the user/pass issues, I mean they could get to my Visa I guess.

I would be worried. That is the reason MS doesn't allow you to sign in with apps. MS is trying to protect their customers. Apps like 1337pwn are awesome because the app itself doesn't even need your Gamertag or Windows Live ID. You add what friends you want to watch.

This guy is site scrapin with this app. Which is a violation of xbox terms. Also you are in violation by giving your gamertag email and password to this guy/app. And apparentl can get you banned. Just learne this today.
