According to a statement made to BigDownload, the video game adaptation of Privateer Press' tabletop fantasy war game Warmachine is currently in development for the PC and (unspecified) consoles. Quietly announced in August, the Warmachine video game is being developed by the indie team at WhiteMoon Dreams and will feature player control of "various warcasters and their warjack battle groups" across interactive battlefields in both single and multiplayer modes.
WhiteMoon Dreams' Norvell Thomas promises we'll get a chance to see whatever that last sentence even means in a "gorgeous" demo by GDC 2010. Thomas adds that the indie dev's goal is to "wow" publishers at the conference in order to fund full development of the table-top adaptation.

At first I thought this was going to be a Blizzard game.

I thought it was going to be a game starring War Machine (from Marvel Comics). Although in retrospect, the game's name is one word, not two, heh.

I thought it was gonna be a Fallout ripoff, for some odd reason.

I love the setting of the Privateer Press game, but sadly never got to play the miniature games (no players around here). Would love a chance to finally experience the Warmachine universe. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I love the Warmachine universe too. Googly Cryx Deathjack, and see what I mean. Should make for a really good game.

I hope this game does well so we can eventually get a Hordes PC/console game.

Hopeful response: If they're smart it'll be an RTS or even a SRPG
Cynical response: It'll probably be like Armored Core...

It's not an RTS, it's an over the shoulder action-y game from the perspective of a Warcaster I believe.

Hmmm, why does this logo seem somewhat familiar? :p
I wonder if this to bait in casual Blizzard game players, if such a thing exists, like CrimeCraft did.

This (miniature) game has been out since before World of Warcraft if that's what you're implying.

I also was at Gen Con Indy and sat front row for this announcement. They showed a computer generated Juggernaut, which looked sweet.
I imagine the scope of the entire Warmachine would is too broad (what with six WM factions and four Hordes factions). It'll most likely focus on Cygnar and Khador's warring.
To those of you who don't know what Warmachine is, it's a table top miniatures game where you have warcasters (like wizard generals) who have twelve-foot tall steam-powered robots called Warjacks. You also have your infantry and solo models that do specific things. It's actually a very interesting world, it all takes place in a land called Western Immoren. The way it was explained to me is this: It's a world where steam technology and gunpowder were invented say 500 years earlier than it was. It has elements of Steampunk and fantasy. You have steam-powered robots fighting, pirates, zombies, elves, wizards, dragons (sort of). It has the potential of being an awesome game. It is far more interesting a world (in my opinion) than World of Warcraft.
