If you find yourself coming up short in your quest for victory in the PS3-exclusive multiplayer beta for Bad Company 2, the development team at DICE has a few pointers to help reduce the gap between your win and loss statistics. Bad Company 2 level designer Inge Jøran "Pirelli" Holberg posted a laundry list of tips for attackers and defenders for the beta's Arica Harbor map.
With the map's design in mind, Holberg's tips feature a slew of ideas on how you can destroy specific areas of the map to redirect adversary foot traffic -- right into the sights of your favorite firearm. Our tips? Keep shooting people on the other team and you're bound to win eventually. We're professionals here, folks.

one thing I noticed in the beta is defenders trying to sneak into attacker spawn area while attackers are successfully taking objectives.. Makes NO SENSE.. those idiots definitely don't understand the concept.
Loving the Beta though.. Playing less MAG though... MAG is good but it needs work.. it is a bit sloppy yet.

No wonder I found the Attacking easier than defending...

BC 2 is fun and all, but I played and enjoyed MAG more I love the whole teamwork aspect...that is if people actually start doing some teamwork it'd be better. Oh and there are still codes for MAG here.

Mag didn't even seem like that great of an idea to me. The whole thing that sells the game is that there are massive numbers of people to me, which reminds me of the quantity/quality debate. The type of thing where people say this game is better because it has a couple hundred people, borderlands is better because it has a bazillion guns, fallout 3 is better because it has a billion hours of gameplay, etc.
I don't buy the idea that just because it's 256 players it's going to be any good. I'll wait until I play it before I give the final judgement, of course. I just haven't seen anything that makes it seem actually interesting yet. More certainly doesn't make it worse, but it seems a bit gimmicky.

Have to agree.
MAG is 10x better. Better "class" system / skill tree. Much more cover for advancing/defending. Well designed levels. Better respawning system. More varied objectives that allow the game to amount to more than "every sniper wait here for some twit who had to run to this single objective for 3 minutes and plant a bomb with no cover, then snipe him."
Anyone who claimed to play both and says otherwise is lying.

This will be better then modern warfare 2 - MW2 is just too small scale, your too confined, nothing is destructable and its way too tweaker, the battlefield series has always been better because its open warfare and i always find myself using new strategies on 1943 more so with tanks and vehicles.

MW2 maps are predictable, wasteland for example is boring.
vehicles is something the call of duty series has always been missing, battlefield feels so much more natural, its less about reaction time and more strategy, using cover and taking checkpoints, not to say it isn't accurate, i can get headshots with a rifle from the other side of the map at times anyway - the squad system in 1943 is perfect, spawning on each other as a team battlefield games are just superior in design, modern warfare just has every prepubescent teenager on thier xboxs all boarded onto a giant hype train of bullshit.
owning multiple PS3's and having big games with the boys after work is something i do everyday, so i put alot of games through heavy quality testing, tests etc -you can shoot down planes with the cannon fire in 1943 with some practise ;) - anyway i've found infinity wards match making system to be broken, sending me overseas at times and sometimes breaking up our party by pulling singular players into other lobbys.

i'm not saying MW2 is shit, i've loved the game the past few days, i have afew copys of it. its simply a snack before i can play something better. namely this. MW2 has a number of problems which i believe should be addressed
*you cannot turn off the auto aim, causing your camera to sway when you try to melee
*hip fire doesn't destroy claymores
*magazine size isn't shown on the weapons selection
*the matchmaking is broken for australian users (me)
*running into or close to team mates causes random jolts.
*when climbing a ladder, your sometimes caught on a slice of clipping 2 steps from the top if you don't angle your camera right, leaving you vunerable for afew seconds as you adjust
*ping isn't shown in lobby
any MW2 fanboys that don't respect this game can get fucked. biased pre-teen turds.

Here is a tip if you don't know how to use the UAV helicopter thing than don't waste it.
People need to realize there are targets that can be destroyed without planting. And the UAV is a major key when it calls airstrikes. I now because of the UAV don't receive many kills but my team wins since I knock some of the targets after a couple of minutes.

Recon is a great package for defense or offense. With a little skill c4 charges are solid gold, you can defend with them, blow up tanks very easily with them, even suicide rush the crate on attack and blow up your stuff when you respawn.
Pistols are quite effective except for the ammo capacity but one on one it's not hard for a pistol to take out just about anything else.
Then you have the flexibility of a sniper rifle on your package so you can deal with enemy snipers or just general long range kills.
Oh and then there's the motion sensor you get.... I mean come on!
I find the best place to snipe as a defender is from somewhere where you can see your enemy's back and cover the crates at the same time.

This isnt COD (where you can survive a tank blast and survive). You die in 5 shots but so does everyone else.

it's better than COD and its two hits. You basically don't want to be spotted outside of cover.

I only played a bit of the beta but from what I've played I tought that the Sniper class is REALLY over-powered this time.
I HATE camping and I can't get myself to play anything but Assault class, so I kinda didn't liked these new class changes.
I loved everything else though.
Oh and by the way, does anyone know if you can unlock health packs/injectors for assault with upgrades or not? Thanks

The tanks are too strong and ruin the fun most of the time and the helicopter is not even in the beta. And if you have a problem with too many snipers on the other team just snipe them back from time to time or ge the jump on them from behind a few times with a machine gun that will piss them off helplessly getting gunned down while they try to shoot at you with the pistol ebtas fun as shit and free fuck it enjoy it i am. d.soucy

tanks arent too strong, they just need to not respawn so damn fast. you get a few engineers and youll take a tank down quick, recon has mortar strike and c4 as well. you just need team communication, which is what this game is about.

As a beta tester for the PS3 version I can say that these tips are absolutely useless aside from maybe tip for 4th base.
The first base tip it useless because you'll have at least two tanks coming in at a given time plus UAV and being a lone tank that far away from your spawning buddies is a bad idea even if you get a little piece of shielding. Plus shells come from above, not head on.
2nd base tip hahaha I dare you to stand on top of the building. Go on, try it! If they 5+ snipers don't kill you, then high level player with range optics on a machinegun will certainly make you run away.
3rd base tip is effective if you have a couple medics... and if no one throws grenades in there... and if there isn't a tank around to blow that confined space up to hell. You should focus on anti-tank mines and hanging on the flanks by the coast and in the bushes.
4th base tip is actually kinda useful but enemies will come along that other side and can sneak up behind you. Generally speaking there isn't a whole lot of players that venture in that line of sight unless they are snipers in the distance.
5th base tip DO NOT destroy the walls. That is a bad bad idea. Snipers will see you and tanks will see you as well. You do not want to be seen inside that base. You should focus on killing the tanks and killing enemies that flood in.

After playing the BC2 and MAG betas I'm even more impressed with MAG, in retrospect.
The BC2 engine ROCKS, no doubt, but the MAG engine/servrer/voice prompts are so much better at directing players to keep them on task in the game. I was amazed the first time I played it that they were able to make the objectives clear, etc, there were 64 players on line and it seemed like the vast majority were on task most of the time and I really was not a disoriented noob for long at all.
But, I'm STILL disoriented in BC2 and humping it to the hot zone for two to three minutes only to get hit by a sniper even though you're trying to follow cover in, isn't particularly fun...
