Eye of Judgment: Legends for PSP rated by ESRB

Eager to play Eye of Judgment, the unique PS3 card game that uses the PlayStation Eye to read real cards, without the camera and the cards? Then Eye of Judgment's new PSP iteration is for you, and it appears that Sony has plans to release it in North America.
The ESRB has rated the game for North American release under the title, Eye of Judgment: Legends. In addition to implying an eventual retail release, the rating also reveals that the localization is due for a second pass with lines like, "the tremors of earth soaked in the Children of Earth in blood." Oh my.

Sweet! I haven't played the first one, but if it's anything like Magic I will enjoy.

Did anyone buy the first game?
I did, but only because I got the PSEye bundle with it for 19.99 new. Figured I should be future ready for the PMC's.
TheDeviant @ Nov 30th 2009 3:42PM
lol I did the same thing, gotta wait for the PMC. Is gonna be fun! :)
Raytia @ Nov 30th 2009 4:53PM
Where if I may ask did you find the bundle so cheap (and if it's still available)?
Keiichi @ Nov 30th 2009 3:42PM
Looks like Triple Triad.
BunnySlapper @ Nov 30th 2009 3:52PM
What's a 'Check' and why does blue have 5 of them?
NitroMikeo @ Nov 30th 2009 4:01PM
'Cos blue is old and refuses to pay by card.
RFJ-nl @ Nov 30th 2009 4:04PM
Blue has 5 mana, Red has zero and they both have a Check, meaning that if either takes another square they win the game.

I never got the original Eye of Judgment because I didn't have the table space for a dedicated spot nor the patience to reset the thing every time I wanted to play for a few minutes. A portable version would be great - literally pick up and play :)

Wow. It was announced back at Gamescom. Great reporting there, Joystiq.
Also, you already posted about it back in August:

I recommend every card games fan to buy this one. I enjoyed playing it. A lot.

It was announced at Gamescom that it was coming to the US? Because that's what this article is about, confirmation of localization.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Nov 30th 2009 6:17PM
Yes, it was announced for release in all SCE territories at an unspecified date in the 2010.
MaJoR @ Nov 30th 2009 4:49PM
You know what is missing from this article? The ESRB rating!

I wonder how much HP they gave the giant enemy crab.

Ok .... firstly from the preview video it doesn't even seem to use a camera to scan cards they are all just built into the game or will likely come through $ DLC packs so that kills this game for me, well it at least kills the games major hook, you know that EYE thing.....
Secondly I'm still a bit put off by their shenanigans with the PS3 version of the game, when it came to the expansion. Charging people to buy new booster packs is fine in fact that's in part what the game is based around ...... however charging people to be able to play with the cards they just purchased in those new boosters is pure fail, especially when you give out a general patch that allows people who have purchased the DLC that allows you to use the cards you just bought to stick it to the people who haven't.
So even tho it looks vaguely interesting it gets a back burner seat till it hits bargain bins for its predecessors misdeeds.

Yeah EoJ failed in many ways. The cards were hard to find, they made you purchase the patch AND the new cards that worked with it, and all this time people were printing out entire catalogs of the cards themselves without spending a nickle.
I played it quite a bit and even saved up some cards, but setting the whole thing up, getting the lighting just right so the camera didn't struggle to focus, then remembering the intricacies of it after shelving it for 3 weeks just wasn't fun anymore.
It works much better as a tech demo. People are always amazed to see the camera trained on a card, then you move the card around or swipe your hand over it and it pisses off the 3d character on the screen. Some company should have spent a few months coming up with a $5 PSN game that uses the camera in interesting ways similar to EoJ.
shadowhowl1900 @ Nov 30th 2009 6:41PM
did any1 actually play the original?
Marcus Carter @ Nov 30th 2009 10:17PM
is the orginal any good?
hatri1181 @ Dec 1st 2009 9:22AM
the original game is great, with some major flaws. If you live in the US, getting cards was difficult and expensive, the expansions were only released in limited supplies, and you had to buy a DLC just to use the cards you paid for, Lastly, the 3rd expansion, saw a single run of printed cards in english, then was dropped by the second company to print them. (wizards of the coast did the original game and the first expansion, then upper deck did the second expansion.)
