Spoon is too generic. Its like a someone asked for a rock band that plays moderate alternative rock songs and spoon was like, "Oh, we can do that."

They are nothing special.

Then maybe you should get a taste in music. I agree that most of that DLC sucks, but there's no denying the awesomeness of Spoon, Nada Surf, and Pavement.

I really don't even want to buy dlc for guitar hero. I already have all my downloaded songs on rockband and I don't want to take the risk of buying the song on here for it then to just come out on rockband because I already have around 25 on rockband that me and my brother bought. Anyways none of these songs interest me, actually almost no downloadable songs for guitar hero interest me at all.

Ugh, the only song I would want is New by No Doubt, it's the only song not available in the Single Track Pack on Rock Band, and I think it would be really fun.

Ummm...how about the rest of those GHWT and GHSH imports Activision? It's been THREE MONTHS since any kind of update. Your DLC team is teh suck.

The only thing that makes me think Activision does care about the hardcore fans is Steve Ouimette. Hint: HMX, get that dude and I'll happily hump into the "RB DLC rux GH DLC sux" bandwagon.

Well played, Activision. (I'm still not buying your inferior game, but well played.)

The plus side is that Harmonix might release more than one song by each band.

I really want some Spoon in my Rock Band.

I meant the plus side of Guitar Hero getting them so fast, where as Rock Band usually gets whatever good stuff Guitar Hero has later.

How did I leave that much out of my comment?

Boo, Guitar Hero.

At this point, I only care about GH DLC because it might predict future songs/artists for Rock Band. Pavement, Nada Surf, and Spoon would all be nice.

Another month where I don't have to worry about being tempted to buy a GH game because of DLC. The Rock Band DLC barely goes a week without taunting me with awesome music. Plus they release almost this many songs per week, so there is a much better chance of stuff I want.

Also, I mean awesome music that I listen to. There could be good music there, its just not for me.

What I find interesting is that Rock Band seems to be making a much more concerted effort to get out DLC in a timely manner. For me the draw of Rock Band was that it had a far better DLC catalogue plus very frequent updating of new material. Guitar Hero on the other hand had very little material and what did come out was often "meh" at best. It seems they've learnt from Rock Band (arguably again) and seem to be trying to put out more DLC on a more regular basis. DLC has meant very large numbers for Rock Band (can't find the source any more but if I remember rightly it was a very large number of millions of dollars.) Let's see if this translates to numbers for Activision, they just need to stop pumping out new GH games every 3 months.

While I agree the consistency of Harmonix, which has led to the sheer size of Rock Band's catalog, is indeed better, it seems commonplace for people to say that Guitar Hero's music is "meh" while Rock Band's is better. While I know the difference between fact and opinion, of latter of which this comparison boils down to, it seems like people believe that the music is objectively better. I could be wrong is this observation of course.

Music is opinion only. The only case I can really say that music would be bad is if there was no adherence to any commonly held music theory, and even that varies between cultures (eastern music theory =/= western music theory).

Harmonix does put a lot more effort, however, in adding variety to their large DLC list. Plus, they're on the verge of allowing 3rd parties to develop and release music on their store. That could, potentially, increase the catalog drastically. On the other hand, it could tank as an idea and musicians don't go for it, but we'll see. Maybe the record companies will get greedy and throw it into contracts.

Oh, I'm rambling now.

Its amazing how poor the GH DLC is and how regularly excellent the RB DLC is.

Other than a bit early over-reliance on metal, RB DLC is the gold standard.

If Hark the Herald Angels Sing is half as awesome as We Three Kings from GHIII, then it will definitely be worth the rest of this month being lame.

And I never got New for RB2, so I'll probably pick it up for the superior platform of GH5.

But in general, I agree with most people here that Neversoft needs to step up their DLC offerings. RB isn't exactly a powerhouse of quality DLC either, but at least they put out a lot.

Really GH? Another month of (mostly) shit!? Guitar Hero needs to start releasing more heavier songs, like more metal. GH5 had 3 metal songs on the disk, 3! Where is all of the Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, System of a Down, Dream Theater, All that Remains, Killswitch Engage, and Trivium?!!? They also could use some more Alternative/Punk Rock/Metal like Lostprophets, Silverstein, Aiden, and Rise Against! Throwing a pack of songs by any of these bands in each month would make the months DLC look good. The only thing that shows they actually give a tiny bit about their hadcore fans is the Steve Ouimette tracks, and if they REALLY cared they would convert The Devil went Down To Georgia and We Three Kings for GH5! I play Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 5 and love both, GH5 has better gameplay while RB2 has better music. Well this is all opinion, but if you agree I HIGHLY suggest contacting Activision and just telling them you want better bands in their game. If you want to help get better DLC in here, contact them at "suggestions@guitarhero.com".

Merry christmas to all, and to all shut the hell up!

I'm pretty sure Guitar Hero advertises "Iconic artists" and "Rock anyway you want".

Yeaaaah.......most of it is slow/indie/alternative rock.

And lets be honest, most of the GH5 track list is modern boring stuff, heck it's even got HIP HOP in there, way to appeal to the right crowd there Activision.

Also on topic, why have I never heard of any of the guitar hero DLC pretty much?
