Unsatisfied with simply winning the "Artistic Achievement" category of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards earlier this year, Media Molecule and its charming, customizable platforme, LittleBigPlanet, took the BAFTA's Children's Awards show by storm last night. The title took top honors during the ceremony, beating out Boom Blox Bash Party, de Blob and Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise for the coveted "Best Videogame" award.
Media Molecule's Mark Healey teased GamesIndustry about the future of the infinitely award-winning title, saying, "LittleBigPlanet has a lot more room to absorb a lot more things before we say goodbye to that one. I think every year from now on should be a big year for LittleBigPlanet, hopefully." With the Online Create mode patch out today and the Water Update coming soon, we think the studio's got plenty of big ideas to keep the Planet turning for a long, long time.

I love this game, and it deserves every award it wins. Highly innovative.

Overrated. A simple, simple platform game with two planes.
Level creator? Sure, a good one.
Gameplay? Hardly

@Freedom Town:
It's supposed to be a simple, 2D platformer. How many of those do you have nowadays, anyway?
You could only say the gameplay is bad if you haven't played some of the better levels in the game, like the Submarine level from the Water Beta, or Robo Rampage X series (difficult as all hell), or some other gems from the community.

Yea man this game is such a masterpiece. LittleBigPlanet and Demon's Souls are some of the most memorable games I've played in years and years (ugh MW2's single player was such a disapointment and the multiplayer is nothing new compared to the BC2 beta).
It's really cool to see so much community support from game. So many freakin cool levels if you sort by ratings in the thing you could play forever, let alone creating stuff online with friends now.

It really wasn't up against any stiff competition for this award.
I can't wait to see what Media Molecule is going to come up with next. I would love to see another little big planet style game, but I would also like to see what other creative tricks MM has up under their sleeve.

I love LBP! My only regret is that I waited this long to get it (I got the GOTY edition). I thought it was a kids game for the longest time, and then I played the demo. Needless to say, me and my gf are hooked and with the water patch coming out soon I don't think I'll get bored of this game any time soon.

Glad to hear it. This game is absolutely revolutionary, IMO. No game lets you make the kinds of things you can do with this, and share it so seamlessly with others.

Can't wait to get the game o the year version. I'm really glad they aren't interested in churning out a sequel. There's no reason they can't keep supporting the hell out of this, its really the only game of its kind and every update is wonderful.

I personally found BLP very boring and bland.
That is just my opinion, don't be hating.

I enjoyed LBP, not as much as others, but I can see where you are coming from. The concept alone was what many people liked about the game.

Played it, loved it and still go back to it from time to time. It's not popular with the Teabagging crowd because...welll.. you can't teabag. I'm sure there is a LBP level out there where you have to get to the end before the top part of the level (shaped as male genitalia) comes (cums?) down on you --- LittleBigTeaBag FTW!!!

This is the ultimate game to play with girlfriend/kids, etc. It's a masterpiece, its for creative people that love indi style stuff at its finest. It's one of the best games of this generation of my opinion, but not if you are a dude just sitting there playing it solo. Acing all the levels, finding all the stuff, creating maps with my girlfriend on a wednesday night... this game is amazing for stuff like that.

I see why you guys like it so much :/
I'm more of an Action/Shooter/RPG gamer so I guess that's my problem.
