Sorry, challengers! Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii have again landed the top three slots (respectively) on the UK charts, and it looks like they've settled in for a long winter's nap. MW2 is in its third week at the top, while Italian buddies Ezio and Mario are celebrating their second week, according to GfK.
We're not sure if anything will be able to unseat these three before the holidays but, if history is any indication, NSMBW might as well build a summer cottage in the top 10.

MW2 is running at the top longer than I expected. I was predicting a blowout after that first week of sales.
Yes, I'd bet NSMBW will be there probably until the end of the gen.

I think you're underestimating the appeal of a good multiplayer FPS.

It's not that, I was saying it sold so well initially, that that had to steal some sales that had been planned for later. People couldn't wait.

The way I see it, Mario wins. It only came out on one platform...

Yeah, there are two lists they publish, one that has games listed by platforms (so that Modern Warfare 2 would make an appearance 2 or 3 times, depending on how well the PC version is still doing, but NSMBWii would be at the top of that chart, in all likelihood), and one that lists the games as singular entities, which is better reflective of publisher performance

Nope, I know quite a few people saving up to buy it, want it but haven't found the time to buy it yet, or haven't got a console, planning to get one for X-mas with MW2 at the top of their game wish list, so i wouldn't say its time has come and gone, that would be the same as saying Halo should only last a few days of extreme sales as everyone would have bought it who wanted it by then.

I think what he meant more was in Call of duty even if you shoot someone in the body they go down quit easily. I've seen people be shot in the leg and still die.

Yeah but they don't go down like they would from a headshot. I guess it doesnt matter as long as you enjoy the gameplay

I understand what you mean, but realism does take it's effect. A game like Forza I consider to be very realistic and it is still fun and challenging. I mean really if CoD was realistic it would take even less shots than 3 to bring someone down. Just glad it isn't to the effect of halo's damage. I'd prefer 3 shots over unloading 3 clips into someone before they finally go down.

There is always hardcore mode where one bullet usually means death unless last stand is used. Also, people are still functional if hit in the arms or legs. Sure they'll die but they can still shoot right?

I've noticed the word "Port" seems to roll off the tongue of people who don't know what they're talking about.

If you're ranked higher than level 50 in multiplayer during the first week, try taking a break. I recommend going outside. ;-)

MW2 is a pretty good damn game I just beat it in Veteran. I will always remembered the "Loose Ends" chapter as the one that almost made me gave up my hopes to finish this game in this difficulty.
As I am not that into Online gaming I will just complete the Special Ops by myself or with a friend and that's it I will move to another game.

What the hell are you on about? "If you barley could complete it on veteran, i don't suggest any other cod's"
That means nothing.

I would've got MW2, if I could have made it in time for the GameStop "trade in 2 get it for $20 deal" since I can't see spending $60 on the game. It looks good, but the most I'd spend on it, if CoD4 is anything to go by, is $30 bucks.
However, I did go with my next of kin, the Italians, since release day with NSMBW and ACII. Truly a pair of awesome titles.

Well, I'm happy with my purchase, but I think for my multiplayer desires I'll wait for MAG, that way I'll have two amazing war games fulfilling different needs :D

I just finished ACII, and I completely agree with you. It is the most ambitious project in years, and it fixes just about every flaw that the original had, while bringing great additions to the table. Ubisoft might have over delivered with the game, because I'd have been just as happy with half as much content, and I think that really says something.
I liked Uncharted 2, but I'd still say that game of the year should go to ACII.

Funny thing is people were making up their minds on AC2 being the GOTY before it even came out. Especially on Joystiq, where they would constantly talk about how it would be GOTY, before it even came out. No bias there, nope.

I got both NSMBW and AC2 on Black Friday, both GREAT games... but I have to say - AC2 has completely blown me away... I didn't think it'd be possible to live up to the expectations, but it's even surpassed them (for me). I didn't even play the original AC for more than 3 or 4 hours due to the horrible pacing and monotonous missions, but I've probably put almost 15 hours into it in just 3 days (that's a lot for me). NSMBW is pretty much just what I thought it'd be, but SO much fun with friends and has incredible nostalgic value. It was a great holiday weekend for me.

I disagree - I mean... if you go back to the original Mario games, they're not really challenging anymore aside from the fact that extra lives are harder to come by. There are some levels in NSMBW that are pretty tough... but you basically have unlimited tries to get thru them because of all the coins and 1-ups everywhere. All that really does is make the game less frustrating, not less difficult. And when I say this, I don't want to start an epic argument about frustration vs difficulty/challenge... it's just my opinion.
