And there it is, people: The second "mystery" teaser for this year's Spike VGA award show, shown first here on Joystiq. (The first, you'll recall, was 2K Games' franchise reboot of Spec Ops). Since we don't have any insider info on the developer or the publisher behind the game, we'll simply share what we know: This is a new, unannounced game that will be revealed for the first time at the VGAs; the trailer's narration is delivered by a "well-known actor" (Tom Wilkinson?); and the reveal at the VGAs will have actual gameplay.
Share your best educated guesses in the comments below and we'll bubble the best to the top. We'll start you out: That's a Hong Kong police badge, so we're saying True Crime 3: Hong Kong.
[Update: Internet sleuth superannuation posits that this mystery title is none other than Black Lotus, the as-of-yet-unnamed Activision-published, United Front-developed action title announced earlier this year. Just about the only thing we know about the project on the record is that it's "a new action-based game set in Hong Kong" by the studio working on ModNation Racers. Do we have a winner?]

Rockstar's Agent? Probably not, that will probably be more vintage.

Haha I thought so too. Anyways that's definitely Tom Wilkinson narrating. And I'm thinking True Crime 3 as well.
Definitely not Agent like somebody mentioned above. That game is taking place in the 70s (should be great).

if you pause right when the badge is flipping it looks sorta like Chow Yun Fat. Sorta : /
Yeah it could be anything. Hong Kong is a great setting though, and there are so few cop games these days

I wouldn't mind a True Crime 3. I do hope it won't be as buggy as True Crime NYC.... seriously, when your game crashes 9 out of 10 times you're trying to enter a building, there is something wrong.

Telling you the truth, it looks like a Rockstar game for me. It looks open world enough and I guess that it will have alot of shooting. I guess that it might be Agent since it says something about and undercover cop, but the setting does not fit... Agent is set in the 70s and this looks more like 2009.

All I gather is that the dialogue seems to suggest prior events in an earlier game/book/film, and that we've already been introduced to the character throwing away his HKPD badge.
Seems way too serious a premise to be based on this, but... Only connection I get is Rush Hour, which featured Wilkinson. Jackie Chan was HKPD if I'm not mistaken too.

New game is already announced, and looks awful (it's from the fine folks who brought us Reservoir Dogs - God I hate Blitz Games!)

I hope not. GTA4, especially, is a fun-but smart caricature of life in NYC. It'd be very hard to do a version of Hong Kong that is accurate and not a lame Western caricature without resorting to Cantonese.

I have my doubts about how good this guy is at going undercover. Wouldn't it be better not just to through your highly identifiable police badge into the street where anyone could find it..

Oh good grief, shut the hell up about Shenmue!. Its giving me bursts of nostalgia again!. That would of been great though!, but they're already assuming that its "Black Lotus".

Holy Crap! A game set in Hong Kong that actually looks like Hong Kong (late 1990's)! Not a fake big Chinatown, not a giant slum, but a city, bustling with life and variety.
