Let me get this straight. Modern Warfare 2 is usually $60 and the hardened edition was $80. The art book and the case made up $5 of what it was (without tax)?!

No no, you got it all wrong. The art book and the case made up $8.73 of the added price. People who bought the hardened edition got a discount on CoD:Classic and only payed $11.27. These prices are totally factual too*.

*These prices are totally not factual.

Since they are trying to milk an extra $10 profit on PC gamers, I'm one of those 5 without MW2. Plus, I already have CoD. Nice try, Activision, but you'll have to do better to get my cash.

I got this in the Prestige Edition WHICH I WON ON JOYSTIQ! It's next on my play queue having beaten COD: MW2 already.

15 bucks? Really? The franchise has taken literally BILLIONS of our dollars, and now they're releasing a remake of the first game for 15 bucks! That's absurd and clearly a slap in the face of consumers.

If anything, this COD Classic should be given away for free as there way of saying thanks for the support!

"Free" and "Activision" do not go in the same sentence.

Maybe we should all take the phrase "brand loyalty" out of the same sentance as "call of duty" when the next Medal of Honor drops :)

Yep, Bungie should also give us Halo for free since they made so much money off Halo 3, and Halo ODST.

LOL @ Dreaded Fear - there's always some schmuck who feels the need to defend big companies ripping off consumers. My original point could apply to pretty much any gaming company with a sucessful franchise - but that doesn't mean my point is wrong. Maybe Bungie should be giving away Halo for free. At this point, Halo is sold as a Xbox Original for 1200 points, cheaper than COD Classic (albeit only by a few bucks).

One way to look this issue is through the eyes of new gamers, people who haven't played the original (or 2nd) Halo; would they be compelled to play Halo 3? Probably not so much - so give away the first games for free to help drive sales of the 3rd entry. Same applies to COD (though slightly different, as there is no story link or thread connecting the recent COD's with COD Classic).

Here's one more "food for thought". If COD Classic was released 2 years ago, it would have been no more than 800 points... the trend is clear - these digital downloads are rising in price at a pretty steady rate. And everyone on this blog who said "I'll be buying this" is contributing to this raise of price.

I'm not defending this at all. You can get COD for PC for 5 bucks everywhere else, and people are still playing it. I'm merely made that statement to show how stupid, entitled, and hypocritical gamers these days are. I also hate the increase of game on XBLA but you know what I do? I just don't buy them. You are the real schmuck for assuming I'm "defending" anything. 1200 points for Halo or COD Classic is obviously overpriced. But when you can get both of those games for $5 and hard copy, I see no reason to complain.

Well, aren't we the pair of schmuckers then.

As long as we're both in agreement that both Xbox Originals (specifically Halo for 1200) and COD Classic for $15 is too much, then there's no need for a beef here :)

I like you, just don't purchase titles, though I will purchase games on sale, just to show my appreciation for lower prices and do my part in encouraging more "sales".

@Alex
Your point is a valid one about the stupid increase of prices for everything game related ($10 next gen "tax" overpriced DLC, and live arcade games) I didn't expect anything less from Activision and Microsoft pricing this for $15. That was my main point, and I would never see them giving this stuff for free, when they can get the real schmucks who buy this instead of going online and buying the PC version which is still being played to this day for $5.

1. it's not a remake FYI. if it was a remake in the MW2 engine, it would definitely be worth $15. the graphics are upscaled if i remember right though.
2. i think part of the reason why it's $15 is to make people who bought the hardened edition (like me) feel fine. if it was $10 or less, the hardened edition essentially would have been pointless to buy over the normal edition.
3. people would still be compelled to buy halo 3 even if they didn't play 1 or 2. you have to remember, halo is known more for its multiplayer than anything else, and you didn't have to play the first 2 to understand that.

a download voucher came with the hardened and prestige editions of MW2. the download was available from day 1. it's just not publicly available on the store yet, even though it's there.

Peggle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> COD classic.

I played COD classic online when I first got it 2 weeks ago and I only ran into 5 other people. It was so boring and slow. I hate it.
