Ubisoft planning 10 games for Natal, '4 to 5' for PlayStation Motion Controller

When asked if those games were all new properties, or motion-enhanced updates of existing franchises (like Prince of Persia), Guillemot responded, "I didn't count the games that in fact are supporting the new functions that those accessories will bring. I was more speaking about casual games that we are doing on those two machines; we can consider that on those games it's 70 percent new property." Or – if you consider Guillemot's suggestion of ten games for Natal and "four to five" for PlayStation Motion Controller – that's roughly ten new casual properties coming from Ubisoft.

10 bucks says these 'games' end in a 'Z'.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith [ATDF Co-Founder] @ Nov 30th 2009 2:29PM
Although I must admit...doing the whole 'impale with wrist blade' thing would be cool with the PMC's.
Markez @ Nov 30th 2009 2:33PM
I'm guessing at least 1 Rabbids game for each...
Markez @ Nov 30th 2009 2:35PM
Which, mind you, I don't think is a bad thing.
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:35PM
Gamez like 'Raving Rabbidz' oo i can barely hold my excitement
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:37PM
But this time they will actually be raving, you just pretend you're raving in your living room and the rabbid raves on screen. Each 'club' is an online world with 50 other gamers, there's a bonus level where you have to stop yourself dieing from a bad E.

10 bucks says the "4 to 5" PS3 games are ports of the 10 360 ones... & the trend continues.
Prof. Von Manifest (aka the caterpillar in your buttermilk) [PSN: Manifest37] @ Nov 30th 2009 2:58PM
But 8 to 9 of those 10 games are probably ports from the Wii.
(I thought I'd continue the 2 post trend)
Markez @ Nov 30th 2009 3:05PM
Eh, say what you will, Rabbids was a good title for what it was right after the Wii released. It was fun, and I had a great time with it with friends. They could do a new one for PS3/360 that'll be fun on each, what's the big deal? It is a grab to tap the casual market after all, not RPG snobs or anything. From Ubisoft, I think it's a bit much to expect any deep title built from the ground up for either of these new motion control setups.

I find stuffing to be an enjoyable side dish at Thanksgiving.

You guys are all crazy.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith [ATDF Co-Founder] @ Nov 30th 2009 3:30PM
But I'd like to try this Rabbids thing.

I see shovelware....
This is already giving me the creeps.
ToTheMoon @ Nov 30th 2009 5:20PM
You know mahouneko, there is this search engine called "Google" that allows you to get the answer to pretty much any question in about 5 seconds (it's much much quicker than Deep Thought").
The upside is that your friends won't know had a gerbil stuck in your backside and you didn't know how to remove it. ;)
Emblazin @ Nov 30th 2009 5:48PM
@baby sea tuna
Its only lame because you don't have any friends.
Topsu @ Nov 30th 2009 2:37PM
Topsu planning 0 games for any of the motion controlled platforms, as long as he has buy an accessory, or a Wii.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 30th 2009 2:55PM
I wonder if someone'll make a peripheral that will smack Topsu through internet for referring to himself in third-person
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:59PM
If there is such a peripheral then put me down for one, I will use it on all the 'tards on facebook.
"John is getting ready for work"
"Sarah can't wait for the weekend"
Argh! stop being so egotistical and think that people want to see your life like a god damn news report
baby sea tuna @ Nov 30th 2009 3:17PM
In Facebook users' defense: you kind of have to do status reports in third person, since it starts it with your name. Otherwise you'd have to switch mid sentence and it becomes thirst-person, which is not really a thing.
PS. facebook is lame.
mahouneko @ Nov 30th 2009 4:14PM
Meh, I use facebook as a quick means of getting answers about something I don't know or need help with. I just post my question(s) in my status and usually someone will reply in an hour or so.
Dale @ Nov 30th 2009 6:14PM
I believe Facebook is 2.5P (short for person). In the same way PSone classic Pandemonium was 2.5D.
B3astofthe3ast @ Nov 30th 2009 2:32PM
Now the PS3 and 360 can have a taste of the shit that the Wii is being fed!
brian @ Nov 30th 2009 2:49PM
huge profits?
Prox @ Nov 30th 2009 2:51PM
Gimmicky games.
Granger @ Nov 30th 2009 2:57PM
New Super Mario Bros. 360?!?!?!?
Markez @ Nov 30th 2009 2:33PM
Which, mind you, I don't think is a bad thing.
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:34PM
I'll wait until the second generation of games for these because no doubt the first wave will be mostly rubbish.
BigD145 @ Nov 30th 2009 2:36PM
Ubi will touch anything with a ten foot pole.
bongoes Sector 2814 @ Nov 30th 2009 3:00PM
They'll touch anything, ten foot pole or not.
guttertalk @ Nov 30th 2009 5:47PM
As long as they're not asking kids where Ubisoft touched them, then it's okay.
Kleptomaniac @ Nov 30th 2009 2:37PM
Does anyone remember the first batch of eyetoy games? Like the one where you had to wash windows? Yeah thats the quality of stuff I'm expecting for the first batch of Natal games. Of course there's always potential from a good developer. But I really don't see it going anywhere. Same with the PMC, I don't see it catching on.
Although we said the same about dual analog controllers...
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:38PM
and we said the same about the internet
Elranzer @ Nov 30th 2009 4:09PM
No, we said the Internet's for porn.
And going by the dildo-ish looks of the PS3 add-on, it's possible porn will make that take off, too.
Faceman @ Nov 30th 2009 2:46PM
ahhh "casual" :(
ubisoft is a great game company and even their secondary games get good reviews but, casual or not, those are a lot of games to be releasing at one time.
xaos @ Nov 30th 2009 2:50PM
Ubisoft presents: Waving Your Hands Like a Jackass, Waving Your Hands Like a Jackass 2: The Spazzening, and the exciting finale of the Waving Your Hands Like a Jackass trilogy, crossing over with Waving Rabbids!
TheDeviant @ Nov 30th 2009 3:24PM
That's what she said.
CheeziePotato @ Nov 30th 2009 5:00PM
No, she did not say that.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 30th 2009 2:52PM
Ugh. Why does "motion control" always immediately translate into either "gimmick" or *shudder* "casual"?
Path of least resistance, I suppose.
Then a White Kid Said @ Nov 30th 2009 2:56PM
Because old people and women can waggle, you present them with a controller with more than 4 buttons and they look at you like you just asked them to calculate Pi.
ducttapeBigSexy (PSN&XBL: ducttape12) @ Nov 30th 2009 3:02PM
Because no hardcore gamer over the age of 8 is going to spend an entire weekend madly waving their hands in the air. They will, however, spend that much time sitting and gaming. And not just because it looks lame, either - also because few people actually have the stamina to do that.
Plus real gamers don't need a gimmick to convince them to buy a game - if it's good, they'll buy it.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 30th 2009 3:12PM
But there are practical applications for even "hardcore" games, if you feel like putting the work in. I mean, just last week when I was rerunning through an empty level on Dragon Age to get back to a locked chest, I thought, "Wouldn't it be great if I could just use motions to run around instead of having to hold forward on the control stick for 5 straight minutes?" Or be able to navigate through menus by just pointing and motioning instead of having to use the controller? Maybe I'm just thinking of this stuff now because my hands are starting to carpal tunnel up from all this Q4 gaming.
Mr Khan @ Nov 30th 2009 3:47PM
pointer application certainly seems like it could be used quite widely, especially for those kinds of games that tend to work better on PC because of mouse support
Natal's added camera functions could be good for something too, though my mind can't quite wrap around that yet.
Nate @ Dec 1st 2009 11:12AM
I agree completely - WAY too many games are using it specifically as a gimmick. Natal I can understand, since it's not supposed to be super accurate. It's designed from the ground up as a gimmick for casual games. But PS3 motion controller? it's better than a mouse for accuracy!
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] ATDFs Financier and Batman @ Dec 2nd 2009 12:05AM
imagine RTS' that you can actually play on the 360! Squad commands for FPS'! the possibilities are limitless but the results are probably gonna be shitty
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 30th 2009 2:57PM
My prediction's already coming true, before the shit's even out yet. All these things are going to be good for are stupid casual shovelware. Nothing worthwhile will come out of this at all.
Now the ps3/360 isles at stores will become equally as painful to go through as wii/ds.
Cody @ Nov 30th 2009 3:26PM
The greatest part?
As motion gaming becomes more of a staple in the industry (ala touchscreens and cellphones), it alienates lame asses like you from gaming all together.
Also known as a win win.
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 30th 2009 3:30PM
How is motion gaming becoming a staple? All it's been used for is shovelware, and that's all it really can be used for now. Even your precious nintendo tries its damndest to avoid it in their first party games, because even they know it can't be done.
So I guess yeah, you can laugh and be right while you're playing Carnival Gamez and I'll sulk in the corner being wrong while I play Mass Effect 2.
