YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love M.E.! Fantastic visuals, fun gameplay. A sequel could improve upon all those great elements.

Loved Mirrors Edge, I was worried that there wouldn't be another part since most talk of playing new ip's, but rather jump back into sequels that are no longer innovating like HALO.

There's no way it won't exist. Everyone loved Mirror's Edge and it's a perfect game for a sequel.

"Everyone loved Mirror's Edge"

I wish that were the case... but I seem to hear more ME hate than praise :( I couldn't even sell the $5 Steam sale to one of my friends. Then again, I got two others to take the shallow plunge, so...

Mirror's Edge was awesome - and a lot like the original Assassin's Creed. Great concept, good execution, marred by some truly annoying design decisions.

A second go-around I think would make it one of the classics.

I since more 100's coming from Mirror's Edge 2.

The ONLY gripe I had with Mirror's Edge was the story, god, it was awful.

I honestly don't get what was "awful" about the story, especially when compared with 90% of games (popular or otherwise). I remember IGN, for example, saying that GTA IV had "Oscar-worthy" writing, but I'm pretty sure they also panned Mirror's Edge's story. How? GTA IV's story is a ball of cliches and writing that's just ok, and I don't see that Mirror's Edge's is any worse than something like that.

@Ben: It's not so much the story of GTA IV that is good, but the dialogue. You can truly feel the characters.

I'd say GTA IV's dialogue is chock full of cliches and is written in a fairly generic way. "Titties, cousin!" It felt just like every other GTA in that respect, and it certainly didn't break any new ground as far as storytelling in games goes.

Also, I really don't mean to turn this into a pan GTA party. It's not that I hated GTA's writing, it's just that I don't see how it gets so much praise while a game like Mirror's Edge is singled out for having "horrible" writing (when it's no worse than most any other game).

EA turning to "surefire" franchises? i thought mirror's edge didn't sell so well?

I blame it on the casual gamers who couldnt spend more than 30 min learning how to do some tricks. The learning curve wasnt even large. It took some skill to pull of the complex tricks.

I think you misread that -- it states that since EA is turning towards surefire franchises, Mirror's Edge 2 may have begun development but was since dropped.

Picked up Mirror's Edge recently for $15 after falling in love with the demo but I haven't been able to get into yet with DA, AA, MW2, and AC stealing my soul. Excited to hear a sequel is in the works though.

I know a lot of people here are probably tired of open-world games, but this is a franchise which could benefit from it. A large city where you can free run everywhere would be awesome. My only complaints about the first game was that it was short, and that it was linear.

Nice to see companies taking new franchises, and improving them dramatically (AC2, upcoming Mass Effect 2, etc...) Hopefully, Mirror's Edge 2 will improve on everything from the first game.

I kind of agree... as long as they can keep the missions fresh and keep a storyline going, it could be cool. But I would kind of hate it if they turned it into a repetitive mission after mission style uninspired game.

Traveling around a nonlinear city in the ME engine could be really cool though

Good, if any game of this gen deserved a sequel its Mirrors Edge. Assassin's Creed is up there too but I think Mirror's Edge was the game with the greatest potential to expand and grow into being one of the greatest game series.

I loved this game, I really hope they've worked on the combat some though.

I can't wait for a more polished/matured version of this game though (at least I'm assuming DICE will have learned from their first adventure).

It definitely exists guys. DICE hinted at the EA UK forums that it does and that it'll be using Frostbite!

So Mirror's Edge with EXPLOSIONS OMG FTW!

Frostbite doesn't necessarily mean that, it does the lighting and sound as well as the destruction so it could just be that stuff, what engine did the first one run on?

True true. And the first one ran Unreal Engine 3. They said it was this because they were also working on BFBC and the Frostbite engine wasn't ready at all.

But, I think if they do use Frostbite for ME2, why wouldn't they use destruction? It's one of the main things that makes Frostbite so awesome.

Bought Mirror's Edge on launch day at Gamestop and got the Runner's Bag. I love the game, I've played through it at least 4 times and I would be really, really disappointed if they stopped making a sequel.

I'm effing excited. I was enthralled with the concept from the beginning; the soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

Also, an anecdote about the true appeal of the game: I recall it selling well, but not as well as EA's other new IP: Dead Space. I can't remember whether or not ME unlocked the million-copy achievement. However, yesterday's Steam sale had Mirror's Edge for 5 bucks (FIVE BUCKS!). I bought it, naturally. Now, I usually get a solid 1Mb/s on downloads; ME was coming in at 40Kb/s. A LOT of people were just as interested as me, apparently.

I don't think I have anything to add that hasn't been said before... but I still feel like I gotta add that I friggin loved the game too, and fork over my wallet so fast for a sequel. If they officially announce it, I'll let myself get excited over the prospect of ME improving its admittedly rough edges. Hope this isn't dead!
