Famitsu has apparently given Heavy Rain a Japanese release date of February 8, 2010, reports IGN. Japan is receiving a specific localized version of the title, so it's unclear whether this means the game will be released earlier or later in other territories; however, it's unusual for a Western-developed title to land on Japanese shelves first.
We contacted SCEA and were told the company has not "made any announcements on Heavy Rain's [release] date in North America." Yes, right, we know, that's why we're emailing ...

I'm sorry mate. I can't buy every PS3 game in existence. Thanks for looking out for me though.

I'm skeptical too, bceause I'm one of the few that put gameplay before story... while I certainly appreciate a good story, if the game doesn't have gameplay that could draw me back again and just have fun once I already know the story, then it's not worth more than a rental to me. The game does look compelling, but I dunno. I'm just not ready to drop $60 on it yet. If they could figure out a way to put together a convincing demo on PSN, well, yes, so that plz. ^_^

that list needs some updating... just at first glance, Blood Bath and Beyond is January, Pixeljunk Shooter is next year, and half-life 2 episode 3, quarter 4 2009?!? lolol.... I'll believe that, wait, no, I won't even believe it if I see it. It will be a joke. Game's not comin out till December 2012. And Half-Life 3 will not come around until the end of the next Mayan cycle, 5000 years from now...

I hope it isn't out that early there are way too many games coming out at that time. This game is destined to fail being a QTE game and putting it out in the packed 1st quarter just hurts it more.
Best time for the game to come out is the summer when few games are released look what that did for Batman this year. it is supposed to be an experience and almost movie like than advertise it like a summer movie and release in the summer.
Anyway looking forward to this game and will buy day 1.

I'm getting it on day 1. I'm more pumped for this than I am God Of War 3 and Bad Company 2 combined ... and I really want those games. This is my definitive must have game of 2009. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that I loved MGS4 to pieces ... I dunno this game just has me compelled in a different way. Can't wait for it to release. The only other game I'm anticipating with equal fervor is GT:5 ... in case anyone was curious.

Why does everyone compare this game to MGS4? I don't see a slight resemblance...

Argh! I want it now, this is the only game I have been legitimately excited for in years. Well... since MGS4... but before that the only game I was REALLY excited for was Final Fantasy X.

The local Game Stop has this pegged for a Feb 16th release date. As does their website. http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74389
take it as you will

I live in Japan so I'll hopefully get the game in February.
But I'm interested on the part where it says "a specific localized version".
Wonder what the differences are between the original and the localized version.
I can guess that the voice overs will be redone in Japanese, but wondering if there will be any changes made to the gameplay.
I hope SCEJ doesn't sensor the thing too much or I'll be importing the original.

I'm pretty sure I read an interview on this earlier on Joystiq, and the whole localization thing was basically down getting the violence to a respectable level.. and that supposedly, the narrative and all would remain intact

This might be the game that makes me get a PS3. The only other reasons are Blu Ray and a bit of MGS4, but that isn't a deal-breaker.
I loved Fahrenheit.

Space wins, but he's not going to change anyones mind. I've noticed that most MGS fans (Final Fantasy fans too) are convinced that no other game can best them in any way, no matter what.

Yea, but the difference is that Tomb Raider sucked, and Uncharted is awesome. MGS4 was a good game, but Uncharted 2 blows it out of the water in pretty much every way.
