Move the logo to the center, increase in size, remove image, change gradient to solid gray background. Done.

Square is bad at making cover art, but great at making games.. although this is indeed a step up from just having a title. I think they should add some cool background or something...

Uh, the UK Final Fantasy XIII boxart is LESS simple than it's predecessors, which were always the logo on a plain white background. The examples you gave are the US ones.

@ tmacirjordan87. Still the PS3 is more better. Because you also don't need to change discs.

But though, this design sucks (sorry EU gamers).

"Hopefully the game isn't as blah as the cover art".

You should save that comment until you've actually PLAYED the game yourself.

More better? *snicker*

Ok seriously though, since when did disc swapping become a big deal to everyone? Did these people live through the ps1 era? Was anyone bitching when just about every rpg shipped on 2+ discs?

In the time it took you to write that comment I could have swapped discs at least twice. That's right, we're arguing about something THAT insignificant.

Well, to be fair, disc swapping on the PS1 was a lot easier than it would be on the PS3 or 360.

I already said I'll probably buy it on 360 BECAUSE of the disc swapping...

Honestly, it's been 10 years since the PS1 RPG game era. Chances are there are a lot of gamers around now that weren't around (or playing RPGs) back in the PS1 days.

Personally I'm going for the PS3 since it just feels right. I've been playing Final Fantasy with that controller for the past 13 years by the time FFXIII comes out. Not to mention it was intended for PS3 release, and I don't want to ruin the game with being on XBL and getting pop up invites or achievements during cut scenes and dialog. XBL is horrible for keeping you an immersive atmosphere with games. I want to stay in my bubble of fantasy JRPG and not feel like I need to go back and get 100% on every minigame just to get the achievement for 5gs.

@tmacairjordan87: I agree with you. Oh no, I need to actually get up and switch a disc!!

Either way, gameplay wise the games are the same. People can fight over which one has more compressed textures than the other, but in the long run everyone gets to play a decent game, so its a good thing for everyone. I mean if graphics are completely gimped and there are massive frame rate issues on one version then it is an issue because it detracts you from the overall enjoyment of the game (but I doubt that will be the case). However, if you are so anal about graphics quality and load times just go and buy a PC version of the game if you are given the chance (no they do not cost thousands of dollars to build, you can actually build a decent one for 400-$500). Or you can just enjoy what you have and stop complaining about it until there is a real issue. The more people that get the game, the better it is for everyone, especially the people the CREATE THE GAME. Man I hate company loyalty :-)

Are you guys sure it's not just placeholder boxart from online retailers?

That's an awful lot of effort for placeholder art. Most retailers just slap the logo on a blank background.

Though Amazon's placeholder art always looks nice. Has anyone seen the one for GT5?

Oh man, they ruined the art cover! it looks like some american art cover now..
UK always had the white background with the title in the middle (just like japan did)
I'll admit it's not as bad as it could of been, but i would of much prefered the white background and the logo.

That box art isn't half bad, though I'll probably still print out the Japanese cover and use that instead.

Definitely getting it on PS3 though. Can't imagine playing it on anything else.

Nah, he thinks trophies are boring.

Because, you know.. having some random number is 'exciting'.

I do like the simplicity of it, though I do prefer the Japanese cover.

I just hope the US cover isn't overly complicated.

It is more exciting than

"oh boy, you just unlocked your 30th bronze trophy in this game!"

The number system allows devs to give more value to certain tasks, whereas on ps3 they're limited to 3. Getting 40 bronze trophies in 1 game is beyond fucking boring.

Can they stop with the sci-fi thing already? They practically butchered all the summons.

It's getting old. I'd rather have a good ol' 4 crystals, valiant youths, and big wooden airships game. Sure that there's the Crystal Chronicles spin-off series but it'd be nice to have a normal Final Fantasy again.

Hopefully the US cover will be something as good as FFIV's on the DS though.

Being a long-time FF fan since the first NES game, I can honestly say I'm looking forward to XIV more that this game. Even though I dislike MMORPGs.

It's nothing really new to me. Surprising, I mean. Tidus was on the cover of FFX, and all of the characters were on the cover for FFXII. It's been awhile since they went the real simple route, with just just the logo, I think. US, at least. Japan gets the better stuff most likely. But I don't mind the cover at all. It's simple but cool at the same time. Either way, the cover's the LAST thing i'm really worried about. I am buying it for the game afterall.

Not a bad box art. I like it, i dig it. Could it be better? Yea. As for the zoom on it, the PS3 uses smaller boxes than the 360 uses. 360 uses standard DVD size cases. PS3 uses the smaller varient so yea naturally SE went half-azz and just cut the bottom off and BAM done.

It's ironic that the previous box arts of NTSC ps2 games contained characters or protagonists, while the PAL ones are just simple with the title with cool tribal swirls. I honestly prefer the basic and simple cover art of the PAL games. I hope they decide to change it at least on the NTSC version.

2nd time a numbered FF game in UK has something other than the logo. The first I think was FFIII DS. In europe FF games have pretty much only had a white background and the logo. So now it's quite a bit of a change. Look up PAL box arts of FFVII to FFXII
