I fell into the 'I was curious' category.

And, between all the sales, got a shitload.

Also, 24-Hour Wal-Marts allow the customers in. No waiting outside.

And it's Arizona. It was only 47 that morning.

Except the doorbusters don't go on sale until 5AM. At least at my local Walmart.

Some of them don't. The 'all day deals' were out at midnight, though.

I didn't know we were posting our deals.

Normally, I don't buy squat on BF (only thing last year was The Orange Box), but this year I made an exception.

Bought NFS: Shift and Midnight Club LA for my little brother, then picked up Red Alert 3, Dead Space, MGS4, L4D2, and a few Blu-Rays (The Dark Knight, Casino Royale, Independance Day) for myself. I would have bought a Blu-Ray player for my parents, but the ones on sale weren't Profile 2.0 units.

That explains why Sega didn't turn a profit when you were there. ;)

Come to think of it...Microsoft's Xbox division didn't turn a profit when you were in charge either.

And EA isn't exactly rolling in cash.

Are you sure you're qualified to be running things?

unfortunately, I didn't go out this year, as I'm one of the ones that had "no money" Those PS3 bundles sure looked awesome too.

I didn't get any games because I didn't find any deals on anything I hadn't already bought, but I got lots of dvds. Mad Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock. Good times.

People say games cause violence? No violence for me and the tons of others who wanted the free Lego Rock Band game at Old Navy.
Yet there was a bum-rush and over 500 people at the Toys R Us down the street from where I was at. Old lady got trampled and taken off in an ambulance over a Zsu Zsu Pet. (a.k.a a fucking cat toy)

This was the first time in the last 4 years I didn't mess with it. I had to work on Saturday and even if I hadn't I wouldn't of messed with it. I did pick up a shotty later in the day on Friday but no long night for me.

I got my dad a sony bluray player that was on sale (it was already my gift idea for him anyway). And while I was at it I picked up The Departed and Ronin blurays for $8 each. I also got my L4D2 and Forza 3 deals that morning.

My haul, summarized: 3 CDs, 4 DVDs, 17 games, and 2 pairs of Old Navy jeans. Almost all of that was pulled from Amazon over the course of the week (today included)... I don't know if I'll even bother stepping out next year.

Waited three hours in the goddamn cold at a Best Buy. God a couple games and some nice blu-rays. So I felt it was worth it.

My friend however wasn't so lucky. Spent the three hours with me, not only was the thing he wanted (which was a TV that wasn't even on sale) sold out, but when he got home his mom already bought it easily at a nearby costco.

I compared the prices of what I want on Amazon, and then at brick and mortar retailers, and I came to the conclusion that you really don't save any money (there is no tax at Amazon, which basically gives them an 8ish percent head start for me).

What I bought through Amazon:

Assassin's Creed 2 on 360 (basically free due to credit from uncharted 2 and other games)
Planet Earth Blu-Ray (40 bucks)
1.5TB WD HDD (100 bucks. My beloved old drive gave me the click of death a day prior)

Not much of a haul. Then again, the unexpected HDD purchase took the wind out of my sails. I've got to let my wallet replenish before the Q1 blitz.

yeah, everything I wanted was as cheap/cheaper on Amazon and I didn't have to contend with a bunch of idiots driving/shopping, didn't have to camp out, wake up early, freeze my ass off--no sales tax and free shipping. worked for me too.

besides, when you already own most of the crap they have on sale it doesn't matter too much, although I wouldn't mind another ps3 just to have bluray in the bedroom, but that'd mean I'd need another surround sound system....

I'm with you guys, Amazon was the way to go this year. I may have spent $5 more on L4D2 than Best Buy advertised, but I didn't have to get up at 4 am and I wasn't guaranteed a copy there anyway. Also picked up Pirates Trilogy on blu-ray, the new Wheel of Time book, and some stuff for the wife. Best shopping decision I've made all year.

I wandered into Wal-Mart on my way home from work to see if I could snag a copy of Lock's Quest. They were all out by the time I arrived, but I instead found a copy of Red Alert 3 and Dragon Quest VIII for $7 each.

Yoink!

I got a free copy of Lego Rock Band, ripped the tracks, then sold it on eBay for enough to more than cover the cost of the requisite purchased items and download key. Nobody in their right mind went to Old Navy for Black Friday, so us loonies barely had to wait in line or get there comparatively early.

I managed a 42" 1080P Plasma TV for $650, Brutal Legend for $35, and a Dualshock 3 for $30. 3 different stores, and I was home by 6:30 am.

Honestly, though, I just love a spectacle...
