Ok, I'm positive that google is including searches not related to the games, and just the subject in general.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking... Ghostbusters #1 and SAW in the running? Only 2 of those games have zero reference to some other pop culture phenomenon; Modern Warfare and Resident Evil. I guess you can sort of count arkham if the entire search phrase was used. Hell, even modern warfare could be a little tainted by people doing factual searches on weaponry and what not.

It's amazing to see zeitgeist portruded Ghostbusters as the winner.. 'highly-unlikely' don't you think? There's more to spike your interest in this "most top searches for 2009' Strangely, Twitter is not on the top ten list of Yahoo's Overall Searches? And wow! google trends didn't matched the zeitgeist report this time.

Surprisingly, Perez Hilton nabs the most searched person for BING? this getting way too ridiculous and hilarious at the same time.

Batman wasn't that great, not even in the top 10 games of the year. Why is everyone so crazy for it?

Because it was a good Batman game...I plan to pick it up soon.

Batman has been 'revitalized' after TDK.

Because it was that great. It brought the world of Gotham to life, had great design, great acting, and was fun to play from beginning to end. There is so much to go crazy about. It might not be GOTY but it's still a great game.

Did you not play any of the original Batman movie licensed games?
Trust me, this is a HUGE improvement.

You have to admit that Even Stevens was great though.

Sure, Even Stevens was fine.

I just don't want that damn asshole appearing in Transformers and Indiana Jones movies. It's just wrong.

You feel like he's ruining the Transformers movies? Don't you think James Cameron is handling that part just fine on his own?

Didn't say he was ruining them, just that I didn't want him in them.

Michael Bay, not James Cameron.

Yeah, that's kind of a BIG difference.

Bay: Transformers, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor.
Cameron: Aliens, Terminator, Titanic.

So I'm guessing Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are hybrids, right?

Can I ask how Google separated the 'Twilight', 'Transformers 2', and Ghostbusters searches from the movie searches?

Maybe because they've become something more than movies?

I'm pretty sure anyone that is serious about gaming already has an outlet to go to for new release info and what not

it would seem that from this, you can tell which games caught the attention of the more casual gaming audience

It's okay, but it's not great. And definitely not even close to one of the top 10 (or maybe even 20) games released this year, though the hype surrounding it would leave someone who hasn't played it to believe otherwise.

I hate the word "Zeitgeist". It's one of the most overused wanna-be intellectual terms on the planet, especially in movie reviews.

That has nothing to do with this article, but I wanted to get that off my chest.

Hey, don't forget "iteration". You can't read a preview or review that misuses its actual definition.

Asmeron: Improvement doesn't make it good. I've played Batman games before, they're terrible, this new one is aight. That doesn't make it an amazing game.

"Bakugan? What is that, a gun that uses evil Japanese spirits for ammo? Actually, that sounds pretty cool!"

Damnit, there has to be a series that's done this, I just don't know what... Shikabane Hime? Makina uses guns, and is, herself, powered by spirits... but that's not quite the same... Trigger Happy from Shakugan no Shana? Maybe?

WAIT WAIT! The Nightmare-B! From Devil May Cry! YEAH! WHO HAS TOO MUCH FREE TIME! I DO! YEAH! .......yeah.....

*sobs quietly*

There is no way a bunch of teenage girls were searching for "Twilight: The Video Game"

I think Google is not properly filtering the results. Bakugan is a popular TOY, but the videogame barely sells.
