I've been waiting for this for a long time, this and that zombie game that's a PSN exclusive. I got tricked into thinking Zombie Apocalypse was that game. PSN card for this and Borderlands DLC to be bought tonight.

@Roger

The game you are thinking of is called Dead Nation and it's made by the team that did Super Stardust HD. Also, you should check out another PSN exclusive zombie game called Burn Zombie Burn as it's the best PSN game made up to this point.

I don't know why, but I think I'll pass this one, at least for now...

Don't get me wrong, Eden is one of my favourite games ever (I really really like the mood and pace of it) but this Shooter just seems too generic, just like its name. Even this game looks better:

Gravity Crash is pretty boring, IMO. As long as PixelJunk Shooter's controls are in order, I can't wait to play it.

generic!? The game is stunning and looks much better then every game in this genre. You actually have to use your head before you can go around shooting things down. The way they mix puzzle with the elements of the earth is something interesting.

I'm at the opposite end. I think Eden was really cool but this looks a lot more fun.

As for Gravity Crash, it's really a rip off of Gravitron 2. There were older retro games like thrust and oids that were similar, but Gravitron brought in it's own style and mechanics, and now Gravity Crash is pretty much a clone.

yeah unfortunately the Gravity Crash demo wasn't good enough to warrant the $10 purchase, and I was looking forward to it. I didn't know about Gravitron until after Gravity Crash, but I was a big fan of Solar Jetman, so the similarities there were what grabbed my attention. Oh well. I'll grab it if it goes on sale or sum'.

Ok, so I've tried Gravity Crash now and I didn't really like the 'gravity feel' of it, so I guess I take back what I said earlier, Shooter seems better now...

@ CaramelZappa
You should try playing Eden with somebody else. Me and my brother really had a great time playing it together. And jump from level to level, don't try to grab all the Spectra at once, my bet is that the people who found the game monotonous were playing it that way.

@ Solace
I'll give it to you that the graphics and the art style are amazing but I haven't seen much of the puzzles...

Shooter just isn't captivating me like Eden did but heh, I guess I'll buy it after the inevitable demo. The Eden and Monsters demos sure did their job by convincing me.
Anyway, I think we can all agree that there are different PixelJunk strokes for different folks :P

the game is a puzzle within itself, different elements react differently to one another. Timing is another key. It's not just water and lava, there is more you in the game. Check out the PSBlog video and you'll see what I mean. Just go to the US PlayStation Blog by following the source

It's funny, cause the gravity in Gravity Crash is the part they got right. I'm starting to get bored of dual stick shooters... They all kinda play the same after a while.

I'll try it with a friend when I finally get a second controller. Generally when I have friends over it's more like "lets play brawl" or "lets play COD" Smaller less action packed titles like this rarely come up.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked Eden. I was just saying that Shooter looks more fun than Eden was, and apparently it has co-op as well.

This game is hovering around the top of my most anticipated, it looks like a lot of fun. Love all the PixelJunk games so far... Yes, even Racers (wish they'd give that game trophy support... I was shocked when I fired up Lemmings to discover it got a trophy patch, so you never know!).

Game looks 'meh' to me. Previous PJ games were great because it was a game that I could play with my girl. To my knowledge, Shooter's campaign is only one-player, and if Cravity Crash is any indication, my girl won't be able to grasp the controls.

I might reconsider my opinion with a demo.

as much as i love pixeljunk games, whatever happened to the 3-4 a year message they said long ago? the last was eden and that was well over a year ago. counting psp titles that would still just make it two. that said, i still look forward to whatever they cook up. especially a pixeljunk rpg.

You can't rush quality.

As long as they continue being this *good*, then once a year is more than enough.

yeah I would rather see them take their time with their games, since they are fairly unique, I would hate to see creativity such as theirs be rushed. PS, the Pixeljunk RPG you're looking for, they announced Pixeljunk Dungeons a while back, that might be as close as we get.

So this will be the first PSN/XBLA game I'll buy since.... PixelJunk Eden? Anybody wanna take a guess what the game before that was? Here's a hint: it starts with a Pi, and ends with an xelJunk Monsters.

Yea. Needless to say I don't like most of the regurgitated, uninspired garbage that floods the small scale downloadable flood gates these days, and the stuff that does peak my interest is either too expensive to begin with or I don't have the time or money between big scale releases.

...so yea. LET'S GO PIXELJUNK!

You're missing out, my friend.

There are quite a few games on PSN that are creative and unique experiences. To limit yourself to pixeljunk is to deprive yourself of some excellent titles.

PixelJunk is really the only thing I like or feel is worth the money relative to what could be a sixth, fourth or third of a real game. Just my opinion. If you can enjoy small scale download games, that's cool and all, but it's just really not for me anymore. My money goes elsewhere now.

That's funny, I'm totally the opposite. I have just as much fun with the downloadables than I do Blu-Ray releases, so I find it hard to spend the money on big titles, and get over excited for PSN releases.

Best PSN game made up to this point? It was good, but hardly the best. I would put these ALL above it:

Exclusive-
Comet Crash
PJ Monsters
Fat Princess
Mega Man 9
Bionic Comando

and of course....

SUPER Rub'a'DUB!

I would put a couple of those at the top as well, but MM9 and BC:R being a couple of them, aren't exclusive. I almost replied to that thread with "MegaMan 9 is the best PSN game dood!!" but caught myself, cause it's on XBLA and WiiWare too.
