Provided it's less than 100 bucks, I'd buy that.

I need to free up that Component input.

assuming I can repair the fan on my 80GB I will still have PS2 capability.....

Honestly the only PS2 games I still played regularly were God of War 1 & 2....and now I can play those on PS3 so I don't really have a need for that anymore....but I STILL want my PS fixed....lol

I'm with you on the GoW1&2 thing. The only title I have laying around for my PS2 that I have yet to get to is Shadow of the Colossus. If they do the same treatment for that as they did for GoW collection, my PS2 is done.

I just bought a PS2 off craigslist for $20. The sound was messed up but swapping av cables fixed that. I bought it with the intention of playing ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, but it looks like it will only be the latter. Apparently ICO is ridiculous to find for under $40. No thanks.

1. What's the market for this? If you wanted your PSP to play UMDs, you would have bought a 3000, not a Go
2. Unless this device hacks your firmware (which Sony would never allow) or the PSP Go contains a hidden feature to run games from a USB source, how's this actually work?
3. Isn't this going to make the PSP Go really bulky?

Sounds too lame, unprofitable, and lawsuit inducing to be true.

for people that bought a Go for its portability. but maybe they occasionally hook it up to their tv and play with a PS3 controller. this is nice, you can play UMD games at home and have the portability of the Go when you leave home

idiocy aside, i think this is actually pretty likely. Logitech has always been in cahoots with Sony when it comes to peripherals, so yet ANOTHER add-on for the Go made by them would make sense.

while I think this a great idea (I know it's crazy right, I like that they give me options). I still wish they would release some thing like this for the PS3. Or make PSN PSP games playable on the PS3.

Honestly I don't see why they don't, I actually sent in a fairly detailed suggestion to sony along those lines that included some mechanisms that would allow quick transfer of ones save game state between the PSP and PS3.

Allowing you to play your PSP game on your PS3 at home and quickly moving it over to your PSP if you happened to need to go somewhere, in such a manner as it would be nearly as seamless as pressing the pause button.

Which would increase their market share for PSP games to include people with a PS3 and no PSP as well as to encourage hardware adoption of the PSP platform in the instance people didn't already posses one, Let alone to promote the hell out of the PSN with people who possessed both.

Met with the expected, "we will neither admit nor deny we are or are not working on exactly this feature, but if such a feature does exist or is ever introduced you will receive no credit for your input." Which I took to be the standard "why the hell didn't we think of that" and I didn't really care cause at this point Sony really needed a freebie anyhow.

haha what a reply from sony!

but I was just thinking that I want to play some games that are only going to be on PSP but I don't plan on ever buying a PSP because I just don't travel enough to justify it. so why not at least sell the software to me.

well thats paraphrased, actually dug around and found the email and the actual response was two paragraphs that felt rather cut and pasted, god only knows it could have been semi automated and round filed for all I know. But I couldn't figure out how it would be anything but a Win, Win, Win, situation for them.

I think part of the reason they haven't done this is that the PSP's tiny resolution would look absolutely awful on a huge 42" 1080p screen that a lot of PS3's are hooked up to. They could make an emulator that would upscale it to make it look better, but it wouldn't do anything to help the textures or the GUI. Still, it would be nice to implement and then developers could maybe include the higher res textures and gui in nwq PSP games so that they would look great on both the PSP and the PS3.

I hope that Sony does allow this, and also allows the games to be copied to the Go's internal memory (or to a memory stick) and also allows those same games to be backed up to the Media Go software.

If all 3 of those things happen, there will be magic (and also consumer choice for those whose only PSP is the PSP Go).

Yeah, because combining those 3 things won't amount to saying "Please copy PSP games more than you already are doing!"

If that device is coming out (Big if, that one, tacking stuff onto a PSP kinda undermines the "I have a PSP Go for my tiny pockets"-argument), i doubt it will allow copying of games, because if it did, Logitech can call the thing "Piracy-o-matic" and prepare for court...

If you buy a PSP Go, you're stuck with the PS store, enjoy!

in a way.. this isn't a bad thing. It gives people that jumped to the PSP-GO without realizing that "digital only" means "all the stuff you want isn't there yet" a chance to actually get some stuff the rest of us have been enjoying for a while.

As for me, my PSP3000 isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I have no doubt that digital distribution is the wave of the future just wake me up when somebody *FINALLY* gets it right. At the rate they're tip-toe'ing around DRM and other crap a good Digital distribution scheme won't happen in my lifetime.

There is no way in hell that this device would allow people to copy the UMD's onto the PSP. I don't know why everyone thinks that it's a possibility. Sony's stance on pirating is pretty firm.

Do you have a DVD burner ?
Odds are since you are using a computer the answer is yes

Can it illegality copy DVD(s)
Yup

Does that mean that you steal movies?
It doesn't, Unless you Do.

arguably there is nothing wrong with the technology nor would there in theory be anything wrong with the ability to transfer games I own and intend to continue to own over to my PSP 1k memory card with such a device.

Its nothing that can't be accomplished with current firmware mods so odds are if you were going to pirate a game, YOU ALREADY ARE and your doing it for Free... I doubt any self respecting thief would go out to buy something like that.

I'm not arguing that it cannot be done with modification of firmware and the like, what I'm arguing is that this peripheral does not exist, or if it does that Sony will not officially support such functionality.

Sony needs to nut up or shut up and either support or create a UMD ripping service/capability for the PSP.

I know this is dangerous for piracy but they dug their own hole with the UMD. Oh well, it'll never happen, so I guess there's no point in complaining. I suppose it will just leave an opening for competition. Just like Apples competitors did in digital music.

You know, now that I think about it, if new release PSP games cost between $5 and $15 I wouldn't even care whether they supported UMD. Game prices are the real problem here. They're also what enables the used game market developers love to hate so much.

My son has a PSP-3000 and I personally don't like the Go or what it could mean - what happens when the PSP-3000 is not available? We've got all of these UMDs and I don't want to buy a Logitech device. I think I'm going to purchase a PSP-3000 for safe keeping as eventually the 3000 won't be available and we'll all be screwed. Screwed I tells ya!

So since you own both, can you login to your PSN account on your 2000 and download/play the games you bought for your GO?

Yeah, that's pretty easy. Anything I buy on PSN I can use on any activated system, but I believe it is limited to 5 total activated systems per account.

If you don't have an M2 memory stick with a memory stick duo adapter duo adapter (easy enough to find on ebay and they don't cost much), the game save will have to be copied/pasted on a computer or backed up and moved using Media Go. So its very doable, it just takes a couple steps to copy the save back and forth.

Having a Go with the addon will raise the question, "why bother?" It's about as useless as putting nutrition facts on bottled water.

LIke I said earlier--- If Sony doesn't sort this out and make the PSP Go worth owning (ie stops screwing people on game prices) then the pirates and hackers will do it for them.

I don't condone this, but I do see it coming just as surely as I see Sony trying to force another proprietary format on the market within the next five years.
