"I'm not saying it's going to happen tomorrow, but in the way that Activision sort of alternates sequels of Modern Warfare and Call of Duty and owns the leadership position in FPS [first-person-shooter], between Medal of Honor and Battlefield, I want it back," EA CEO John Riccitiello declared in an interview with Kotaku. This means war.
With the Call of Duty franchise growing into a $3-billion juggernaut, it's no surprise to see EA looking to topple Activision's bulging beast and reap the significant rewards. According to Riccitiello, the newly rebooted Medal of Honor and March's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 represent a strategy of "innovation and quality," one he suspects is bolstered by DICE's multiplayer expertise. "We think we've got an advantage over Modern Warfare 2 with our multiplayer," he suggested. "The guys at DICE do that really, really well."
So, you think the console wars are intense? Just wait until you see the war ... wars.

What's the distinction between them? (I've never gotten an opportunity to play the old ones).

As long as the new medal of honor doesn't cause motion sickness, I will give it a try.
The old ones used to make me sick within 10-15 minutes. I'm not sure if the head sway could be turned off or not, it's been a long time (1998, 1999)?

Unfortunately I foresee the FPS genre as the next oversaturated genre ala musicgames (rockband/guitar hero).

where have you been in the past 10-15 years? FPSs have been past the saturation point for a long time...

I know its a popular genre, but I guess I meant if the FPS franchises like CoD and MoH start pumping out multiple releases every year it will make me never want to own another FPS--sort of like how guitar hero technically should be on the 38th installment since GH2 came out...
FPSs are oversaturated, but most franchises are on a 2 year cycle with CoD being the yearly exception...

I would hope so. At least we now know they're not trying, intentionally, to make a bad game.

"Defining Online Warfare" I see what you did there, EA

EA's main problem is release timing. BC1 was released to long after COD 4 to have an effect on its sales or playtime. Personally COD 4 was the most addicting game i have ever played. Excellent in every way. But since DICE raised the bar, MW2 same old shit wont fly any more. Its old hat.

Make a better BF2, get rid of the air whoring.

what is air whoring, a team can easily take down a chopper if people stop running around like morons and shot at it with everything available, not to mention the new anti-air's will clip that birds wings

I'll let you do your FPS thing, EA, as long as I still get my FPR.
Mirror's Edge 2 please. And, I know it's a lot to ask for, but can we get a new jurassic Park Trespasser?

I loved MoHaa, I'll wait and see what happens with MoH. I do plan on getting Bad Company 2, I didn't play the first BC, but the new game looks awesome. I really want a new series. I loved the original CoD, but it seems like a sell-out series now. Where is originality

RIGHT. DOMINANCE.
YOU SAY THIS WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR BAD COMPANY 1 SERVERS OUT OF ORDER FOR MORE THAN 15 DAYS IN THE PAST MONTH (at least on the PS3) WITHOUT GIVING ANY EXPLANATION WHY.
"The guys at DICE do that really, really well."
Right...
Ps.: Sorry but I felt like that deserved to be in caps

EA with all its resources cant outsell MW2,they can only hope to oversaturate the FPS market with MW2 ripoffs. If they really felt so passionately about the genre they would have released this years ago!

Bad Company 2's beta is a lot more fun than MW2, less 13 year olds

well, if Bad Company 2 is any barometer, I think they have a good chance of dominating the market. Man, Bad Company 2 is just too much fun...
