"Gameplay and general ease of use"
In other words, a noobified half-arcade half-sim, its like calling CoD or Halo an infantry sim.
I personally dont like racing sims - which is why I stick to Burnout. But if I did want to buy a racing sim, I would want something on which the team has spent time and effort to replicate actual car physics and which looks and plays realistically.
There are 3 categories of racing games imho:
arcade: Burnout, Motorstorm
sim wannabe: NFS, Grid, Forza
The 3rd category has just 2 entries: real life, and GT. And GT looks better than real life :)

isnt GT5 going to have 340 cars at launch and up to 1000 cars total ?
now this 1000 car total number is misleading because it does not explain that many of the cars are very similar or exactly the same with minor changes.

johnny said: "It's a gear heads dream come true. "

i dont really agree with that. I would say 'its a gamers who love racing games dream come true' but thats my opinion.

i really dont think the people that spend friday nights, saturdays, and sundays at the race track really care about spending hours and hours playing this game, unless they are also gamers too. would a gear head want to mod his game car or his real car first ?

johnny said: "Basically there isn't a game in the world that will give you more content for $60 than GT will"

i also dont agree with this at all. sounds like the typical fanboy comment.
there are a stated 20 track locations and 70 total tracks. meaning there are 70 total places you can drive your car around a track.

just to name 1 game with much more content to 'play' is fallout 3, which contains over 100 locations to discover and you could spend at least an hour in each discovering items and looking around, and you are not locked to a track. you can explore the entire wasteland.

johnny said: ''It's for people who want to tune every aspect of their car to get the most performance and suit their preferences''

sounds like what i like to do in real life with my truck. i would have said this game is for gran turismo fans, race game fans, and people that want to play 1 of the greatest if not greatest racing game franchises of all time.

I stopped caring about Gran Turismo after 4. Only people who seem to be really excited over this are the typical PS3 fanboys.

Yep Dreaded Fear. GT5 Prologue so far has sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide and clearly all 4,000,000 of those purchases were made by PS3 fanboys. Because, you know, it's impossible for a non-fanboy to appreciate a good game.

No.

"now this 1000 car total number is misleading because it does not explain that many of the cars are very similar or exactly the same with minor changes."

I don't see how facts are misleading but whatever you think obviously isn't going to be influenced by facts when it comes to anything to do with Sony.

It goes without saying someone who doesn't play video games wouldn't be interested in playing ... video games. Not sure where that bit of commentary even originated from but you should have thought that one through a bit more as it was moronic in nature. No offense of course but that was sort of a captain obvious statement.

You can choose to define content however you like but with everything this game will have I feel confident and have been saying for sometime that for the money you will pay it will dwarf everything else by comparison. I won't get into the "typical fanboy comment" from a typical fanboy like yourself ... I'll just leave that one where it is and say what I usually say to statements like that: it's a blog where people express their opinions. No one said you have to agree with or subscribe to that opinion.

Aren't those people one in the same? The point was noting the differences in people like Gel who made his comment about preferring Forza to GT ... context, context, context! Whats the saying? You say POH-TAY-TOH I say POH-TAH-TOH ...

December 17? Isn't that about the 3 year anniversary of the GT-HD PSN demo? I really wish that instead of GT5 Prologue they had just added some half-assed multiplayer (as opposed to prologue's 1/4 ass) to GT4 and pumped out a quick HD version of GT4 in 2007. I would have paid full price for it and it would have held me over until GT5 a lot better than Prologue has.

Forza games get 90+ scores across the board for a reason. Stop being a fanboy. Turn 10 can churn out a AAA sim racer in 2 years. That's talent, my friend.

The tires on the 370z are mounted backwards. The tread should be going the other direction. Those are Yokohama ADVAN A048 tires, btw.

Not really a demo though, is it? One car (stock and tuned) on one section of one track from GT5, and it's only available while the contest is running (it gets pulled from the PSN on 1/25). Just a quick little time trial contest, nothing more?

Oh...I didn't recall the track editor.

Ok well....that feature will potentially push it over the top of Forza 3.

The PSN will be crazy with new tracks etc. Hope they allow you to hook up a mouse and keyboard *grin*

i dont think its fair to compare forza 3 and gran turismo 5. i think forza 3 and gran turismo 4 would be a fair comparison, in terms of track availablilty and cars, its a close one, im not sure...what do you guys think?...

gran turismo 5 demo, will be interesting, to see what they put in there.

gt5 prolouge was an excellent idea, it gave us proper gran turismo fans a taste and a preview and a playable mini game of the real thing. like a guy said above you, noone forced you to buy it.

lol i played forza 3, i dont own it, but i own a xbox 360.

very un realistic, it just doesnt have the feeling, and the turning? and the drifting?...i cannot believe you call that a simulator lol.

gran turismo is at leest a respectable simulator, it simulates under steer, over steer, braking very well and very realistically.

theres a reason why gran turismo is the best selling racing series ful stop.
