Sucker Punch's superpower game has sold 1.2 million copies, according to a recent update by the PlayStation.Blog. According to Sony's rules, that's enough to make the game a certifiable "Greatest Hits" title. However, a game can't don the ugly budget box art until ten months after the game's original ship date.
Until then, inFamous will get an almost-Greatest Hits price for its almost-Greatest Hits status: $39.99, effective immediately. Also, the former GameStop-exclusive power-up Gigawatt Blades will be available for all as a free PSN download, starting December 10 -- a nice freebie for latecomers to the game.
Considering Black Friday has already passed, it seems like Sony may have missed the best opportunity to announce a price drop on inFamous. Of course, there might be another motive behind this move: to keep this game on the mind of video game editors (and fans) readying their GOTY lists.

I never unlocked the Gigawatts, and I played through the game twice. It'll be cool to revisit it with a new toy.
I think this game has potential to pull an Assassin's Creed 2 with the sequel. That is, to take a strong but somewhat underdeveloped setup from the first game and translate it into a masterpiece for the second go-round.

I dunno, inFamous is a much better game than AC. AC really felt like a concept more than a game. inFamous was pretty solid all around.
I just picked up AC2 and its pretty fun, but after playing Demon's Souls for the past month or so it just seems way too....easy?

Demon's Souls makes everything seem easier, lol. But yeah I always described Infamous as Assassins creed on crack since exploration was very much like AC except much faster. Combat is way different of course. But overall Infamous felt more fleshed out than the first AC.

I know how you feel. I really like AC2. Seems like it was the only thing I did over the weekend, but there have been a couple times while playing I thought to myself "This game is really good, but it's no Uncharted 2."
Probably all that climbing that makes me compare the two games.
Playing AC2 also makes me think of Oblivion. I guess if you crossed the two games, this is what you would get.

Agreed that InFamous was more complete than the first Assassin's Creed. The similarity that struck me, apart from the climbing, was that, as in AC 1, the way you can interact with the world in InFamous is fairly limited. You can heal people or hurt them, but not much else apart from scripted events.
One of the things I really appreciate in Assassin's Creed 2 is how much more you can do in the city. The addition of shops & money, clothing changes, notoriety, temporary hirelings, oddballs like pickpockets and messengers, and the "home base" of your Villa all make the world feel much more alive. I'd love to see a similar treatment to the city in the next InFamous, and give Cole more options for interacting with the population of Empire City.

I got them and they feel like regular melee, just a little stronger. It looks cool, but gameplay-wise they are pretty useless.
I'm extremely curious what they are going to do with part 2. They set it up very good with the ending, great twist. There could be one problem though, with how the story went they can hardly rip the powers away from Cole and have him start from scratch ala metroid. But how are they going to give Cole new and better powers without making him a god? New protagonist?

It definitely should be considered for GOTY. Easily one of the top three games of the year.

It wins my "Blandest Game of the Year" award hands-down. "Surly bald guy in black leather who shoots lightning" would be boring anywhere, but in the genre pioneered by Spider-Man and The Hulk? It just made me want to play Web of Shadows again.

InFamous deserves GOTY consideration IMO as it's an absolute blast to play. However, with games like KZ2, MW2, UC2 & AC2 it won't get that type of consideration. The 2009 prerequisite for GOTY is having a 2 in the title. Maybe the sequel has hope.
While we are on the subject ... How about some DLC.

Here's one that's not a "2" title: I think that Batman: Arkham Asylum deserves GOTY consideration.

Batman is definitely up there. For me, even though it was a small downloadable game, Shadow Complex is up there for GOTY. Uncharted 2 takes the cake, but Shadow Complex is a close second.

Infamous is probably the worst game I played this year, but Brutal Legend gives it strong competition. Just another bland "action" game, with a guy who climbs buildings ridiculously slow.
I'll take Sly 4 please, but no more of this boring crap.

I agree that I would rather have a new Sly Cooper game, but I didn't think Infamous was bad at all.
It was over-hyped and over-rated by PS3 fanboys, that is until Uncharted 2 came out.

Both, now that you mention it. "Surly guy in hoodie whose hands turn into knives" isn't very exciting or original, either.

I only played the demo of this game. I was amazed by both the graphical style and production values. What I was not amazed with was the gameplay. Everything from climbing to shooting lightning seemed sluggish, unintuitive, and boring I can appreciate good production values and great story, but the number one thing in a game for me is are the gameplay mechanics fun enough that I would want to play them for hours. With infamous, it was no. Not enough to warrant a $60 purchase. Maybe now that the price is dropped I'll give it another look. Maybe I'll get it in the summer when there aren't as many games coming out. It does have a lot going for it.

See i would have been whatever opinions had you of refrained from stating why you disliked the gameplay.
But honestly sluggish? Really?
If anything the lightning's best part was how not sluggish it was. Jumping off a building lobbing down bombs while shooting down another person off a roof and landing into a pile driver as the bombs exploded around you was amazing. The game was very responsive and fast moving when it came to the gameplay. it was anything but sluggish.

Hmm. Yours is not the only comment I've seen with a "meh" reaction to the demo. I never played the demo myself, and I didn't find the gameplay to be sluggish or boring.
Maybe it was a bad demo. In which case, live and learn, Sucker Punch. Sometimes a demo does more harm than good.

The comic book cutscenes were awesome (so awesome that now Sony is even trying to earn some money by charging for some Uncharted2 comic book cutscenes on PSN) but the other cutscenes using the game engine were kind of bad (when compared to U2 they're rubbish, but then again, U2 set a standard this generation...).
It was the only game that ever froze on me (3 times in 2 play-throughs).
The frame rate was also kind of bad and it was the only thing that really prevented me from fully enjoying the game.
I bought inFamous at full price and while I liked it (got the Platinum and all) I know that it could have been much better. But for the current price, I'd say it is well worth it.
