Max Payne 3 delayed until late 2010

In a new financial earnings and projection report, Take-Two has dished out news of Max Payne 3's release. The game's been pushed back -- we like to imagine in incredibly slow and dramatic fashion -- to the company's fiscal Q4 2010. In real time, that translates to a three-month period spanning August–October, 2010. The game was previously pegged for an unlikely Winter 2009 release.

Based on what we've seen of Max Payne 3 so far, we'd say that bumping back its release is a good move. Max is in serious need of some Jazzercise and a decent dry cleaner, so this extra time will hopefully get him into better shape to handle the countless waves of bad guys he'll be indiscriminately shooting in the face.

Good. Don't want it to be shitty, and there are enough games out right now lol.
This is going to compete with Fallout: Vegas for me. That's gonna be a tough choice.

Development of this title should take maximum 3 weeks, in bullet-time.

pretty sure he was making fun of the spelling. he better have been.

better to have it polished and not buggy or anything like that. looking forward to how Rockstar will do with this. hope it all goes well.

It's ok that he's wearing a wife beating and dual-fisitng fire arms cause his wife died in those horrible dream sequences way back in Max Payne 1.

Remember those where you had to tight-rope walk across the blood trails in the dark...those were horrible.

Oh god yes. And the loop of the baby screaming? Awful.
It didn't drive me deeper into his plight, it just... made me want to get through it.
The whacked-out dream sections of the sequel were "a bit" better, but I throw around the term "A bit" very loosely. However, these sections didn't stop the games from being great, and I'm psyched to get a third dosage of Max's internal Purple Prose.

The screaming baby looping was the worst part. I remember having it out with some of the Remedy staff on a forum about that damn thing.

I'm only playing the original right now, and, after 3 hours, I beat that part (about a week ago).

Worst level, ever.

I originally gave up on Max Payne's fucking baby blood trail dream sequences, but I came back again to finish it up, even with the help of a guide. That game is absurdly bad now. You could shotgun the floor right in front of your feet and enemies would die. It just lacked polish in general as far as gameplay goes, but I suppose it was good for its story.

I love it Rockstar, don't change a thing. The last thing we need is another fake looking protagonist who looks like Dolph Lundgren with a flavor savor and "talks like this." (batman voice)

I cringed so hard when I saw the picture of Max Payne "dual-weilding" a glock and a mac10.
This doesn't look like a Max Payne game at all and I fear it's going to be a shitty generic shooter like most stuff filling the bargain bin at the moment.

As long as they don't screw the Max Payne series they can delay the game all they want.

as long as the game is GOOD.....damn shame tho....wanted to get my hands on this ASAP....but time taken to improve upon it and make sure it doesn't blow ass is a plus

I loved the first two and if this insures a higher quality product, I'm all for it.

Although for ME it's a huge title, is it really 'breaking' news? There hasn't even been an official trailer yet, so I don't see how this is extremely relevant. That is NOT to say I don't care; I cannot overstate that enough.

Man, I'm really hyped for this game. 2010 is gonna be crazy! I thought this year and last year was good. Damn...

Anyway, this news is kinda bittersweet. Bitter because I have to wait longer to play it. Which is ok cause R* is 1 of my top favorite devs and its Sweet cause it doesn't release in that insane Q1 window anymore. Next year is gonna be exciting for ALL gamers.

Am I the only one who thinks this could be great? I think Rockstar know how to make a good game. I'll be snapping this up the day it's out.

God, Max Payne 1 & 2 were so good. I hope they make this one just as good... delayed or not.

But honestly, I do not know what to make of the new art direction.
If they screw it up, I'm going to boycott Rockstar games for a year.

I like how Max Payne has the belly of a super-hardcore gamer.

Max Payne looks like this because Take Two is convinced that all of their games protagonists should resemble their target demographic. I resemble Max Payne 3 WAY more than Max Payne 1 & 2. Now I can get into this game more. Except, there better not be more than 3 flights of stairs in this game or my Max will never be able to get to the end. He'll be like "Awww....%$#@ it. I'm not THAT hellbent on vengeance."

Is anyone able to play the original Max Payne on XP or newer Windows? I can't get it to work, and I know others have tried and it won't install; even if you change the version setting in Windows.

I'm not very good with this sort of thing, so if someone knows of a patch or some other way to get it working, I'd really appreciate it.

The same also applies to the original Half Life, which will only play on old Windows 98 computers as far as I can tell.
